2019-2026: 50 pounds lost, and five years of maintenance
A lot of people say that maintaining is the hardest part. It took me roughly a year and a half to lose 50 pounds. I lost it by changing my habits. Doing what was sustainable. Naturally. I’ve kept the weight off of for five years now. I think I was able to keep the weight off because I just continued to do what I did when I lost the weight. Log my food, make healthy choices, exercise. 🙏🙏
As these questions do come up:
Yes, I’ve posted before, but as my journey continues, I post to share it.
I’m 57. I started this journey at 50.
I’m natural, no judgment on the choices people make, but I am natural.
I do cardio, and strength training. Swimming.
I lost my leg and my daughter when we were hit by a drunk driver in 2009.
I worked out with my son daily, at the gym, who is 15.
Wishing everyone the best in their Fitness journeys.
2019-2026: 50 pound weight loss, five years of maintenance, and staying with It! (50 to 57)
Almost 30 years…❤️
She has been with me through thick and thin. My wife. The mother of my children. Thirty years this September. None of this would have been possible without her.
(50) to (57) 🙂
Started turning my life around at age 50. Cardio, strength, training, logging my food, healthy, food, choices, and changing my baseline through an improved mindset. And I found the missing ingredient – group support. As the question will inevitably come up, I am natural. Thank you for the opportunity to share. 🙏🙏
From 50 to 57: I lost 50 pounds, start working out, aaaannnd shaved my head…
It took me a while to the shaved head. It started during the pandemic, when the world shut down and I just started using clippers with a zero guard. Then I tried different hair clippers. Finally I just realized that for me personally it’s so much easier better and cleaner and feels so much better to just use gel and a razor. Been doing that for over a year. I really love this bald community… thank you 🙏🙏🙏
Chin ups! Trying again. 57 years old. Adaptive athlete.
On my last video I saw I wasn’t going high enough… tried to go higher this time. 🙏🙏 Thank you guys for all the tips and encouragement and critiques.
Shaving my head was the best glow-up I never expected. 51-57.
That, and losing 50 pounds. 🙂
Before and after with AI -is this realistic?
Sorry for the duplicate post. But it occurred to me to just use ChatGPT and ask to add it. Is this realistic on the right? It’s me on the left. I mean, if I can get a result like that holy crap.
Still on the fence
I’m still on the fence about this, I keep thinking about it and not doing it. I’m 57, I’ve gotten into the best shape of my life, I’ve lost 50 pounds, I’ve worked out, and I’ve done everything that’s within my control. I shave my head with a razor, literally every day. Or every other day. Should I do this? I know I have to answer this myself. I would want one of the light, airy, receded versions.
51-57: I took control over the things I could
Can’t control my hair loss, but I can control whether I lose 50 pounds, and I work out. First I lost the 50 pounds, which took about a year and a half. And then began working on strength training. Naturally. 🙂💪
2019-2026, 57 & Natural
First I lost 50 lbs of fat. Began strength training. These days I do cardio, swimming, and strength training. Naturally.
Push Day! 57 years old
Push day: and my favorites are unassisted dips and overhead press 😌💪
The miracle of movement ❤️
I have posted before about my physical fitness journey with Noah. Noah is on the spectrum, and has developmental disabilities. Mostly nonverbal. I continue to be amazed and grateful for the changes that have taken place over the past five years through physical activity. First hiking, during the pandemic. Then getting into a swimming pool. Over the years, this has evolved to 20 to 30 minutes of cardio together on an arc trainer, swimming 500 m together. And strength training. It’s really incredible, he does literally every exercise that I do, and we take turns. Chin ups, dips, seated row, overhead press, curls, crunches, flys. The gym has become the focal point of our lives. No matter how rough it gets in the house, no matter how difficult things are I’ll still take him to the gym. And make no mistake, it is often difficult at the gym. But not as difficult as the house. And there are so many great moments. Sometimes it is minutes to minute at the gym. Sometimes there are blocks of five good minutes and sometimes blocks of 10 good minutes and sometimes blocks of a good hour. Each one I’m grateful for. By exercising with Noah daily, he is more regulated, his body is physically fit, and he feels better in his own body. And he feels a sense of accomplishment at the gym at a sense of camaraderie with the other people there - some of whom have grown to love him. And our bond together while we are exercising. And again, I’ve posted about this before, but I have lost 50+ pounds and kept it off, on this journey with my son.
Physical fitness has brought us together in a way that I could never have dreamed possible. He is my best bud. Our relationship is completely reciprocal. He needs me, and I need him.
I am grateful for the opportunity to share this journey. Comments, and questions are welcome.
Thank you for reading, and wishing everyone the absolute best in their own journeys.
The last 10 pounds….Still Trying…
I’m thrilled that I’ve been able to lose 50 pounds and keep it off. Especially in my 50s. But I haven’t stopped trying for the last 10 pounds. I would love to be able to lose…no pun intended, my love handles. My understanding is that’s the last place the fat leaves. And yeah, it would take eating less over a period of time, of course to do it. I’m far from perfect. One of my greatest flaws is that I will go to the gym at night, come home slightly hungry, and then blow my calorie deficit and put me back into maintenance. Lately I’ve been trying to drink a lot of water, or other things and I’ve had some success with this. I’m still trying to crack this nut…the last 10 pounds. For those of you that lost a ton of weight, and then finally lost the last 10, I would love to hear any tips that worked for you and getting yourself to continue the calorie deficit. 🙏🙏
