I think I know why Tarzan returned in Once Upon A Studio (I could be wrong though)

I know the Burroughs estate is a litigious bitch, but before Tarzan returned in Once upon a Studio and the remake rumors. Disney had to “acquire“ the film rights to the film rights to Tarzan and they didn’t use him for years cause fans claimed Disney had no rights, but here is the thing. Tarzan is in the public domain!

The first book, Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs was published in 1912, under the old law and because it was renewed on time it entered the public domain in 1987. Some later Tarzan works made after 1930 like the newspaper comic until 1935 and some books and movies are also public domain as they weren’t renewed. As of 2026, most of not all of the Tarzan books by ERB entered the public domain in the United States.

Yet because of the weird using trademarks as mutant copyright law thing, despite Dastar vs Fox ruling this as invalid the estate is nroable for being litigious and has sued people like Dynamite, despite this they weren’t that successful as there were still unauthorized Tarzan works like the golden films adaptation. because they had a “trademark“ on Tarzan, its why Disney had to “acquire” the rights and also likely due to the later books being copyrighted or whatever.

However despite Tarzan not appearing in Kingdom Hearts due to claims of rights and such, it’s not that accurate.

Because of the characters public domain status and because it is likely Disney still owns the rights to their version of the character and because since 2019 all of Burroughs works fell out of copyright in Europe, Disney seems to being Tarzan again in some media such as The Simpsons and Once upon a Studio.

I honestly hope this is the case because having to “acquire” rights to a public domain work is complete crap in my opinion, this happened with Zorro and Conan (yes Conan is public domain as the characters debut was never renewed, yet Conan Enterprises claims they own the character.) Estates using trademark law to bypass copyright is always a failure..

Feel free to disagree, but while I am a Stitch fan we deserve more Tarzan content.

All types of Disney media ranked. (Some controversial, some a bit biased based on nostalgia)

Animated originals, Direct to video and Live action remakes/adaptations, I may be a bit biased, it’s stuffed full of unpopular opinions That will possibly cause people to kill me, but these are my personal takes so feel free to disagree or agree whatever.

Here is a download for The Mystery of the Fire Dragon, the only post-1930 Nancy Drew book that is public domain due to no renewal of copyright.

Ik the first four books became free this year, but I heard three non renewed ones are also included, two revised and one original series book which fell out of copyright in the 1980s due to pre-1964 renewal requirements for works or else they would enter the public domain after 28 years. So here is a download to the ebook.

Wasn’t there a version with a 1899 copyright date that might be rarer? I saw a video of it before in 2015 and idk if it exists.

I love the oz books so just wondering.

My Arthur Hot takes.

Feel free to disagree with me, I can respect anyone’s opinions here.

  1. I’m tired of people meming or claiming mulitple misconceptions about the show or taking it too seriously like claiming David and Jane being bad parents (this isn’t really that true to be honest, we need to remember we are viewing from Arthur’s POV so while he may think they prefer DW over him sometimes they still clearly love and care for their son and it’s supposed to be relatable and realistic to real life kids.) Let alone I think they are the best cartoon parents in my opinion because compared to true bad cartoon parents like modern day Peter and Lois, Butters’ parents and others David and Jane love both their kids equally and are really caring and loving characters equally. I get kinda mad to see them on worst cartoon parents lists sometimes which makes me feel like these people never watched the show or idk. yes David and Jane are not perfect sometimes but not all parents have to be perfect and I feel like people take that episode “Arthur’s Big Hit” and other divisive episodes as being “proof” of bad parenting too seriously a bit, which leads me to my second point.

Also I’m tired of some fans claiming Arthur and DW hate each other which is also far from true, even at DW’s worst, they are supposed to be realistic silblings and do love and care for each other equally. I don’t really like the fist meme personally, and I only see the show myself as wholesome entertainment, Feel free to disagree but yeah

  1. The flash animated seasons are not that bad, I grew up on this era personally and the writing compared to modern SpongeBob and Simpsons is still as good as the older seasons. I also defend modern Spongebob and Simpsons but we need to remember this is technically Arthur for the new kids of today. My favorite episodes were Framed and the Halloween one where Ladonna and DW play a prank on Arthur.

  2. I don’t consider “Arthur’s Big Hit” and other divisive or hated episodes as canon, and I often skip them when rewatching the show.

  3. I like Ladonna and Ted. to be honest I never knew they were hated in the first place. I am southern myself so their introduction was amazing.

  4. Arthur’s Missing Pal was not that bad, just mid as hell. I do like the 3d versions of the characters though as their designs are much more closer to Brown’s books than the TV show.

  5. I don’t ship Arthur and Francine, I instead ship Arthur and Fern but I can’t say why as it’s personal. I mostly ship Francine and Muffy together too.

This painting is now Public domain in the US as of 2026

It’s called Composition with Red, Blue and Yellow by Piet Mondrian (1930), so it’s now free to use and remix. And yes I handcanon it as Binky‘s favorite painting personally.

My thoughts on (toxic) Disney live action remake haters (Moana related)

Keep in mind, I am optimistic about the live action too, my sister who loves Moana though wants to see it and I will give it a try since I do personally believe Disney has been trying to put effort on their live actions since Snow White flopped, but I am tired of the toxic hatred when it comes to Disneys live action remakes.

Personsally I am hit or miss on them, I love some like The Jungle Book (2016), Lilo & Stitch (2025), Cinderella (2015), and Aladdin (2019), The Lion King and Dumbo were kinda mid but I did like Mufusa, I hate some like Mulan, Pinocchio and Alice Through the Looking Glass. But I am tired of people whining about “who asked for this?”, “why can’t Disney make originals?”, “they ruined my childhoods!”. “they are soulless and slop” (I hate those two buzzword because they are just disrespectful to the hard work of the filmmakers and actors.) it’s getting annoying.

Listen, the original animated films are never gonna be replaced. they are still on Disney plus, let alone a lot of people DO ask for these films especially the general public and not the internet minority. Why did Aladdin, Lion King and Lilo and Stitch make billions? Because kids and families actually enjoy and love those movies, kids wanted to see a funny blue alien or talking animals like lions. These are just the new age version of the classics, and Disney still makes tons of originals too like Hoppers, Elio and Elemental and Hexed and Gatto are coming out alongside untitled ones, Disney is not gonna abandon originals for remakes and sequels.

While most criticism is valid, some of these haters go as far to spread misinformation about the film or taking changes and scenes out of context, like in Lilo and Stitch they’ll claim “Nani abandoned Lilo to the state” but, that is like far from true. For more information, I’ll answer that if someone asks me about it. It’s okay to criticize remakes and I’m not getting mad, I’m just tired of people being toxic, abusing the words “soulless” and ”slop”, as well as sending racist threats to Hallie Bailey and sending death threats to Rachel Zelgler, Dean Fleischor Camp, and others over changes made from the originals.

I know the trailer received divisive opinions, I am worried it would be shot for shot like HTTYD but as someone who saw the trailer I will give my thoughts: it doesn’t really look bad. We need to remember it’s a trailer, so the cgi likely isn’t finished and the colors might be bland but will be better in the final film. I think the actress for Moana is perfect herself, Dwayne Johnson is still great as Maui, I will agree Tomatoa looks cursed, the chicken looks faithful to the design but I kinda wish it wasn’t too faithful and I loved the pig’s new design as it was cute, let alone as someone who is interested in mythology I think live action Maui is accurate than the original film (this will shock people as it is a controversial opinion of mine but feel free to disagree.)

For the last time, why is Disney making a remake to a film that is 10 years old? That is easy. Maui’s actor is the one who wanted this project to happen and show his real life kids he is actually Maui for real, so Disney didn’t really greenlight it because of laziness or running out of ideas. It’s a father wanting to show his kids he is Maui. And also to show appercation for diverse actors which I also apperciated.

Now with the real question, will it succeed? If the story stays the same with some changes but still is faithful and it gets marketed well, possibly. I could see this crossing the billion dollar movement If it does what Stitch and HTTYD (not Disney but still) did and not what Snow White did.

In conclusion, it’s okay not like the Disney remakes, I do too for some of them, but our toxicity and keep crying over it just makes us look like children. Just please be mature about it and calm the hell down, it’s not the end of the world.

The word “racist” is now being censored on YouTube?! wtf?!

Okay, this is getting out of hand,

I was watching this video by a guy I’m not saying his name of because I don’t want people attacking him, it was a joke video titled is Thomas the Tank Engine R—ist

yes he censors the word racist, why the hell?!

Youtube is becoming orwell’s 1984, I understand you don’t want to be aka demonetized but WHY THE HELL CENSOR THE WORD “RACIST”?! That word while really a bad and serious topic should be uncensored when talking about those problems. Seriously I hate when people monetize content related to true crime like rape and suicide because I think it’s disrespectful to the victims, but the word ”racist”?!

Seriously, in the US ai slop is not copyrightable, yet pro-AI people claim adding human touch to it adds protection. Really?! I don't think that is true.

It would protect the edits themselves but not the original image, thats like saying drawing a penis on tung tung tung sahur gives him copyright when it does not.

Ai images, characters and music, are public domain no matter what people say.
