I built a camera app that lets creators film portrait and landscape video, at the same time

I made it for my girlfriend who creates content and watching her film the same scenes twice every shoot was painful.

What it does: records portrait (9:16) and landscape (16:9) simultaneously. Shoot once, get both formats ready to post to all platforms - TikTok, Instagram, Youtube, X/Twitter, you name it.

No more re-shooting or cropping in post, and film in any camera combination you like!

Features:

  • HD or 4K resolution (set independently for each orientation)
  • 24, 30 or 60fps.
  • Teleprompter
  • Timelapse
  • Manual controls (EV, WB, ISO, Shutter)
  • Audio meter (real-time detection, pulse red when clipping)
  • Projects, scenes, and takes to organise and name recordings automatically.
  • Review and trim recordings side-by-side, export, favourite, and share at any time.

Modes:

  • Single Lens mode: one lens captures the full 4:3 sensor and crops both - portrait keeps the full vertical view, and landscape the full horizontal one. Neither is a crop of the other.
  • Dual Lens mode: film with the wide + ultra-wide cameras together. Get two different perspectives/FOVs in one take.
  • Front & Back mode: film with the selfie and rear cameras together. Get your reaction and the scene at the same time.

App is called ContentCam and is available on iPhone and Android 🩵

I'd love to hear what you think about this :)

[GIFTED COLLAB] Camera app that films vertical + horizontal at the same time - Lifetime access

Hi I'm Jimmy, the developer behind ContentCam, an app which helps creators record vertical and horizontal at the same time. Shoot once, get both formats, ready to post across all platforms - brands love it when you can offer them content/footage in both formats.

I built this for my girlfriend who creates content and was sick of filming everything twice. I think a lot of you would enjoy this, so I'm gifting Lifetime Premium access to creators who'd get real use out of it.

In return I'd love one short video - post it on your own channel, or send it as UGC for our socials, whatever suits you. Open to paid collabs if we're a great fit.

A few things creators like about ContentCam:

  • Films vertical (9:16) and horizontal (16:9) at the same time – shoot once, get both formats.
  • Records front & back cameras at the same time too – your POV and reaction in one take.
  • Up to 4K / 60fps, with a built-in teleprompter and side-by-side review/export.
  • and much more!

If you're interested, please drop your details in the comments and I'll reach out, thanks!

Question to the pros: how often do you film with your phone and how/when do you use Log, LUTs, and filters?

Hi I'm Jimmy, a beginner cameraman (for creators) and an indie dev.

For a few months now, I've been working on a video camera app that records portrait and landscape at the same time. Not trying to go into the details here as I don't mean this post as an ad.

I want to know if/when you guys use a phone to film and when you do, how useful is Apple Log, bitrate/codec control, LUT, and filters for you INSIDE the app you film with (before you export).

For context, over time from user requests I've added manual controls like WB/Tint, ISO, Shutter, EV, which I felt were good to have in the app. But now I'm at a cross-roads of some users requesting Applee Log, bitrate/codec control, LUTs, and filters - all things I can add for sure, but I don't know if this is just for a small niche of users or generally useful still. Filters I believe are more for general use but happy to hear your thoughts.

This app was intended more for creators than videographers, as I'm aware Blackmagic Camera etc. exist, hence my dilemma. Thought I'd ask anyway and see if it's useful.

Mods: happy to remove if not appropriate.

Anyone with an iPhone 17 - help a brother out with testing?

Some of my users are experiencing re-occurring bugs specific to iPhone 17 (any model) and I don't have one to test on nor can I keep blind fixing, so would appreciate if anyone with an iPhone 17 can help me device test some things (will require some screenshots from the app).

It's a camera app for creators that records vertical and horizontal at the same time + many more features. Happy to help others with their testing, give a lifetime premium code for the public app, or just pick my brain if you want.

This is my first app, 2 months in, 500k+ impressions on IG, and appalling revenue numbers because of many mistakes and misconceptions I had along the way.

I'll DM or comment the testflight link to anyone interested.

Camera app that can film landscape + portrait at the same time - useful?

Hi, I'm working on an app that lets you record portrait and landscape at the same time and gives you two separate videos, both which retain quality (not simply a crop of one another).

I made this for my parter who's an IG/TikTok creator, so it's useful to help her with Youtube + landscape reels.

Is this something you would actually find useful or could save you time making content?

What it does:

  • Creator workflow: side-by-side review and trim post-recording, projects/scene/take organisation.
  • Teleprompter, timelapse, manual controls (EV, white balance, ISO, shutter).
  • Zero data retention/tracking, analytics, no accounts, no internet required.

The app is called ContentCam for anyone interested.

What it does:

  • Single Lens: record with phone's native 4:3 sensor and crops a vertical 9:16 and horizontal 16:9 from it, no quality loss and actually different outputs. 4k 60fps (if phone can handle it).
  • Dual Lens: record with both iPhone camera lens (wide + ultra-wide) at the same time, giving you different FOVs. HD, 60fps.
  • Creator workflow: side-by-side review and trim post-recording, projects/scene/take organisation .
  • Teleprompter, timelapse, manual controls (EV, white balance, ISO, shutter)

I built a camera app that records portrait and landscape simultaneously, for Youtube, TikTok, & more - useful or not?

I made it for my girlfriend who creates content and watching her film the same scenes twice every shoot was painful. Would love feedback from creators on whether it's something you would actually find useful or could save you time making content.

It records portrait (9:16) and landscape (16:9) simultaneously. Shoot once, get both formats with separate files saved and named, ready to post to whatever platform. No more re-shooting or cropping in post.

It's called ContentCam and is for iOS / App Store.

Let me know what your thoughts are

Camera app that records portrait and landscape simultaneously - useful or not?

I recently made an iPhone camera app and posted my first bits of content averaging 1-1.5k views on a new channel but minimal downloads (10-20/day).

Would really value feedback from creators on whether you find this app/concept useful or could save you time making content across different platforms, e.g. portrait for TikTok/Reels/Shorts and landscape for Youtube long-form.

What it does: records portrait (9:16) and landscape (16:9) simultaneously. Shoot once, get both formats with separate files saved and named, ready to post to whatever platform. No re-shooting or cropping in post.

If anyone is interested in seeing or trying out the app, feel free to comment or DM me.

LPT - keep a duffle bag of clothes and a self-jumper starter kit in your car

My work office is basically my car, and I’ve never regretted having spare clothes, underwear, socks, even crocs in the back of my car.

After the battery died on my old shitbox, I also got one of those self jump starting kits (that also acts as a portable charger for phones/devices) and the reassurance it provides is so worth it.

Comment what other items y’all like to keep in the car.
