Note to self

Remember to focus the heat from the heat gun to the area that you're cleaning up.

Also, do not always use high heat and keep the the gun away a safe distance.

And, close the bathroom door and turn on the exhaust fan. Otherwise, you'll set off the smoke detectors again.

My Kobra X was embarrassed

My Kobra X was so embarrassed that it shut the camera off.

I was wondering why the video wasn't showing on my laptop.

I've been printing basically non stop for the past two days without any issues.

Today I actually tried to trick it into printing a Full Spectrum model that I made in Snorca. After saving the gcode, I loaded it into Orca KX and sent it that way.

Oh well. LMAO. It even unclamped the nozzle and spit that out too.

Should I buy this Ender 5

I already have an FF AD5m, a Snapmaker U1 and a Kobra X. And I have a deposit on the Infimech MX Pro on kickstarter.

Ender 5 S1 3D printer and Rpi 2B - $55

condition: fair

make / manufacturer: Creality

model name / number: Ender 5 S1

Creality Ender 5 S1 FDM printer
Build volume: 220mm x 220mm x 280mm
Firmware: Klipper
USB C port works well with Klipper host running on a Raspberry Pi 2B with a 32GB Sandisk microSD card
SD card slot works well
The hot end fan connector on mainboard does not work - replaced the fan and wired to use an external psu for it to run all the time
Will need new ptfe tubing from filament sensor to print head
Added additional vertical rods, bearings and holders for more stable build platform
BIGTREETECH ADXL345 V2.0 Accelerometer Board mounted on print head for input shaping
Microsoft webcam mounted to frame for video or jpegs of prints

Help with Nozzle swap

For the life of me, I can not get the bottom clamps to lock in. If i lower the nozzle a smidge then the top won't clamp.

What am I doing wrong? Where is the ridge on the nozzle supposed to be?

Robo Turtle Poop

Is there anyway to reduce the amount of poop when printing with a single head printer?

Can you find Robo in the third picture?

Trying again

After my first day disaster with silk filament, I'm running the same filament and the same model. This is after drying the silk, which I didn't do before. Even though I knew better.

I'm using an SH03 which has a seal and monitors the humidity level. As you can see in the picture, I wanted to have it some place that was accessible. And the line out holes are on the rear top, making it easy to change spools.

I've already printed a camera relocation mount. I can now see what I'm printing. A poop deflector, so that I don't have to search for and pick up poop.

And of course a new print head cover. Which had to be printed on my U1. The one that I printed on the Kobra X looked like crap. I had turned on fuzzy skin, but either the slicer or the printer didn't like it.

Received my new Kobra X today...

I had watched the unboxing video and had it set up in no time. I let the self calibration do its thing. Then loaded the included filament, chose the Spider benchy.

And bam! Error message! Clogged Nozzle! Mother Fucker! Felt like taking it to the dumpster!

Instead, I laid it on its back, cause I can't see shit even with glasses. And started to poke the little needle to clean in out. I used my pliers to be able to force the needle into the clog.

Stood the X back up, reloaded the filament and started printing an articulating frog. Everything started printing great. Watched it for a few minutes, then went into the bathroom. And another error pops up on my phone. No worries though, it ran out of filament. Loaded a fresh spool and finished the print. Actually printed it better than my AD5M did.

I'm a glutton for punishment and don't like to fuck around.. So I loaded 4 fresh spools of multi colored silk filament. Using the Kobra slicer, I synched up the colors and started a 17 hour print. It's been printing now for 5 hours.

What did you do today?

Finally got around to running a few tests. My eyes are bad even with glasses. But I'm guessing:

What should I adjust?

When I do a first layer test with the smooth plate, only the top section of the Black, Orange look like the z-offset needs adjusting. And the bottom section of the Red.

But how could only small sections need adjusting?

I've leveled this plate twice in a row.

Should I still adjust the z-offset?

Well here's a first

I usually monitor my prints on my laptop from the living room. I looked at the screen and see an error that the toolhead has become detached.

Looked at the picture and sure enough, the left toolhead is laying cock eyed.

After inspecting everything, putting the toolhead back in place and wiping the magnet thingys, I restart the print. Unfortunately, now my model is all stringy but the prime tower is fine. As you can see from the pictures, the model was fine before the toolhead became detached.

Has anyone else had a toolhead come detached from the trolley?

Just finished gluing Dino

I just finished gluing the XXL T-Rex together. She's standing in the graveyard of another T-Rex who tried to fuck with her baby.

Printed on a Snapmaker U1 with Sunlu PLA +. She's a little over 3' long and fully articulated.

So, I'm not even going to open the Kobra X box from Amazon on Friday. I will initiate return immediately.

Pissed off...

After printing for 20+ hours on this 30+ hour print, the mother fucking support gets knocked over.

I'm fit to be tied.

Somehow the support lost adhesion and the Pla got stringy and.............I'm pulling the Pla from a dryer which has been running.

The textured build plate is only a few days old. It was sprayed with hair spray. The rest of the print was adhered really good.

Just really disgusted right at this point. I'll print a few more things before trying again.

Maybe this time I'll use a brand new FF smooth plate.

Oh, the printer is an FF AD5M with the FF textured build plate. Door was slightly open and the enclosure lid was off. The Pla was basic marble. Plate temp around 55c and nozzle was 220c.

Well, I done went and did it.

I ordered an Kobra X yesterday. I already have an FF AD5M and a Snapmaker U1. I just got into 3D printing three months ago. I really like both of the printers that I have, but want the ability to print in more than 4 colors.

Matter of fact the AD5M has already done a few 20 hour prints. Right now it's tied up for another 10 hrs while it finishes a 31 hr bust.

The snapmaker U1 is an easy but difficult 4 printhead printer. Once dialed in for the filaments that your using, it just prints away. AI has been a filament and time saver. But the 16 colors plus, Sidecar is months away from being ready for the consumer.

So I ordered the Kobra X on sale for $299. Then as money allows, I can start adding the ACE Pro 2

Maybe I can try to dedicate one of the printers to low hour prints...Lol

Beta Firmware 1.5.2 is available Beta

Warning!!! This is a BETA Firmware release. If you fuck up your U1, don't come looking for me.

Warning - Use at your own risk.

https://wiki.snapmaker.com/en/snapmaker_u1/firmware/release_notes/v152

>Bug Fixes

  1. Fixed an issue introduced in V1.5.0 where, in some cases, the first layer was overly squished when Heated Bed Leveling was not enabled before printing.
  2. Fixed an issue where the nozzle diameter could be incorrect in some cases.

Next Steps

After installing this firmware version, please complete the following steps:

  • Run Multi-Toolhead Offset Calibration again with no filament loaded in any toolhead.

Before starting a print, make sure Heated Bed Leveling is enabled so the printer performs bed leveling automatically before printing.
