Considering the Capital One Venture X

Hello everyone, I’m considering getting the Capital One Venture X, and one of the biggest reasons is the airport lounge access and FREE food 💪. I travel pretty frequently, and having a comfortable place to relax with decent food before flights is something I value a lot. How has your experience been with lounge access? Have you had trouble finding eligible lounges in the airports you travel through, or has it been pretty reliable? How’s the food and overall experience?
I’m also comparing it to the Amex Platinum. I know the Platinum has a much higher annual fee and a larger lounge network, but I’m trying to figure out whether it’s actually worth the extra cost. My goal is to get a card that will realistically pay for itself through the benefits I’ll actually use.
For those who’ve had both, do you think the Venture X is enough for a frequent traveler, or did you find yourself wishing you had the Amex Platinum instead? I’d love to hear your experiences!

Edit: I mainly fly internationally and I am a solo traveler :)

Schwab debit card?

Hello everyone, I’m planning to use my Charles Schwab debit card while traveling internationally, mainly for withdrawing cash from ATMs.
For those of you who have used it abroad:
How has your experience been overall?
Have ATM fees really been reimbursed without any issues?
Any countries where you ran into problems?
Do you have any tips for avoiding unnecessary fees or getting the best exchange rate?
I’d love to hear about your experiences and any advice before I start relying on it for long-term travel.

Thanks!

Too good to be true? New here :)

Hello everyone, I recently got Google Fi Unlimited Plus, and because of a promo I’m only paying $35.55/month for the next 12 months + YouTube premium for 6 months.
From what I understand, I can use my plan in pretty much every country with unlimited and partial high-speed data, which honestly sounds almost too good to be true for the price. I’m going to be traveling internationally for a few months, visiting multiple countries and continents 😁💪, so this seems like an incredible deal if I’m understanding it correctly.
For those of you who have used Google Fi abroad:
Is it really as good as it sounds?
Are there any catches or limitations I should know about?
Any tips to get the most out of the plan while traveling long-term?
Is there anything you wish you knew before relying on Google Fi internationally?
I’d love to hear any advice or experiences!
Thanks!

Could my mom and I qualify for Italian citizenship by descent in this situation?

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to figure out whether my family might qualify for Italian citizenship by descent (jure sanguinis), especially after the recent changes to the law.
Here’s my situation:
My great-grandfather was an Italian citizen.
My mom has not applied for Italian citizenship yet.
I was wondering if my mom could first apply and be recognized as an Italian citizen, and then if I could apply afterward through her.
I know there are a lot of factors that matter, like when my great-grandfather naturalized (if he did), where everyone was born, and the recent rule changes, but before I spend a lot of time gathering documents, I’m just trying to understand whether this is even a path that could still be possible

Earplugs for emergency loud noise situations?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out which Loop earplugs would be best for my situation.

I don't go to concerts, clubs, festivals, or other loud events, and I don't need earplugs for sleeping. Most of the time I don't wear any hearing protection.

What I'm looking for is a pair that I can keep with me in case I unexpectedly end up in a very loud environment and can't immediately leave. For example, a loud restaurant, airport, construction area, sporting event, or any situation where the noise level suddenly becomes uncomfortable or potentially harmful.

My main priority is protecting my ears as much as possible from noise damage, not preserving sound quality or being able to have conversations.

What do you guys suggest?

Thanks!

ULPT Request - How to get cheaper subscription prices from cheap country?

I’m wondering how regional pricing works for subscriptions like YouTube Premium, Spotify, Netflix, ChatGPT, etc.
If I open a bank account in another country (for example Thailand) and get a debit card from that country, would I be able to pay that country’s lower subscription price? Or do companies determine pricing based on your account country, billing address, location, or something else?
Has anyone actually done this successfully?

Should I be cleaning my ears, or should I just leave them alone?

Hey everyone,

I'm a little confused about earwax and whether I should actually be cleaning my ears.

I've never really felt like I have excessive earwax or any kind of blockage. My ears feel normal, and I've never had issues hearing because of wax. However, if I put my finger just inside my ear, I can sometimes feel or see a small amount of wax.

Because of that, I'm wondering:

Is it normal to have a little bit of wax there?

Should I be cleaning it out with something?

Or should I just leave it alone and let my ears clean themselves naturally?

I've heard people say not to put anything in your ears, but I've also heard of people regularly cleaning them, so I'm not sure what's actually recommended.

Thanks!

Also, for those who sensitive to loud noise, do you feel that Loop earplugs provide enough protection in these situations, or do you still carry foam earplugs for maximum protection that is still well presented?

Thanks!

Google Fi eSIM Won't Activate on New Phone While I'm Abroad

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble activating my Google Fi eSIM on a new phone, and I'm currently abroad.

I recently got a new phone and tried transferring my Google Fi service to it. My iphone says it's activating, but it never actually connects to the network. I don't get any signal bars, can't make calls or texts, and mobile data doesn't work. It just seems stuck in the activation process.

A few details:

My Google Fi account is active.

I have an iPhone 15 (old one broke)

I'm currently outside the United States.

The new phone supports eSIM.

The Google Fi app appears to complete setup, but the phone never gets service.

I've already tried restarting the phone, toggling airplane mode, and reinstalling the Google Fi app.

Has anyone successfully activated or transferred a Google Fi eSIM while abroad? Does the activation have to be completed in the U.S., or is there another workaround?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Joining the U.S. Military

I recently received my U.S. green card (about two weeks ago) and I’m interested in joining the military.
For anyone who enlisted as a permanent resident:

Were there any military jobs you couldn’t choose because you weren’t a citizen?

How long did the naturalization process take after you enlisted?

Had my green card interview today and it was approved on the spot (even got an I-551 (ADIT) stamp) BUT interview says it was cancelled on my portal.

I had my green card interview today I am (EB-4) and got approved on the spot, I asked for an I-551 (ADIT) stamp and received one on my passport, but this is what my tracker says. Should I be concerned?

Got approved today but it says this?

Hi everyone, I had an interview today and I got approved on the spot and I even got a stamp because I’m leaving the US soon for a trip. Why does it say that if I got approved?
