Finally got a use for some of my old blades

Finally got a use for some of my old blades

I always felt throwing away blades that are almost sharp enough to shave with was kind of a waste. For cutting light stuff like tape this little "utility knife" should be great

Fits in a pocket great and despite the blades being pretty delicate, it should be very handy. It's not like I've got a shortage of old blades from shaveing anyway.

I was painting my shed and found this guy hiding in the siding

He tried his best to be scarry, opened his mouth and did his absolute best at trying to bite me once before he figured out it wasn't gonna work

After the picture I put him safely in the garden near his hiding spot.

For $15 who can say no?

The thing started right up when I added gas. Then the problems started. The gas line split, so I replaced it. Then the pull cord broke, so I replaced that.

New bar and chain and after about 30 minutes I got the thing running again.

The bar was really worn down, and I had a bar that fit, so I figured why not. I got the bar and chain really cheap because it was on clearance.

The saw is loud, and when I pull the throttle it revs up nice and quick, and I feel the torque. The saw starts really easily and sounds like it will cut great.

All in all I paid maybe $35 and now I've got a nice little saw. Now I've gotta find some wood to cut.

First walleye

Was not at all set up for walleye. I was running a pickeral rig and was having a lot of guppies bite so I sized my stuff down to clear them out.

I was useing "French hooks" that are really tiny, and they were snelled, with just 6 pound line

Just beat King Kong.

I went in expecting it to be another "movie game" but it was surprisingly good. Very linear, but still a lot of fun playing it.

Found this neet citizen stereo FM pocket radio in my grandpa's stuff

Trying them with my best headphones. This thing needs alkaline AA cells or it sounds not great due to current based voltage dip (clipping due to pulling too much current, vs clipping because amp calls for 4 volts when 3 is available)

Looking for good soap/ accessories

I've been making do with a shaving cream (in a can) and while it works "ok" I see everyone else using a solid bar of shaving soap and a brush and ide like to get into using it more too

I haven't found irritation that bad from my super speed, but my open comb razor is on the verge of irritation/not (stings with after shave, vs not with superspeed)

Ide like to use the open comb more though because I find it shaves closer and seems to cut with fewer passes.

I've got somewhat sensitive skin. Wilkinson sword blades do ok for me but ide like something that's a little smoother even still

I've got no idea what shaving soaps are good. I'm looking for something that smells good, but isn't overwhelmingly strongly scented. I feel a proper soap would offer me more protection and let me use the open comb daily with far less irritation

What am I looking for in an aftershave and what does it do? What's good? Again not overwhelmingly scented but a little is fine.

Got a brand new razor. Think I'll keep using my grandpa's open comb

I'm finding the open comb offers a closer shave than the super-speed or wilkinson sword one.

Takes longer to shave with it because I gotta be more careful with it or I'll be cut up but if I pay attention to what I'm doing I manage a cut free shave with it almost every time

Big girl out for a walk

Saw this snapper on the side of the road. I tapped on her shell and got her to eventually move to a safer spot

While I do know how to pick a snapper up without getting bitten, they don't smell good, and have sharp claws, so I generally avoid picking them up when I don't need to. (I also assume they don't like being picked up)

She didn't like me tapping on her shell and snapped, but I was behind her so she couldn't come anywhere near biting me.

My grandpas air ionizer

It's a 555 oscillator driveing a small BJT which drives a big BJT connected to the car ignition coil

Works pretty good, I smelled ozone not long after I plugged it in

The spike on the top is what's generating the ozone and if anyone touches it ide imagine they'd be shocked

LLoyd's table radio

It's nothing special, but the large speaker and germanium push--pull output stage sound great. It has a really warm tone, sounds great.

There's a new classic rock station in my area, so this radio gets a lot of use.

Guy got caught walking onto my dad's property. I was raking the lawn and he turned and started walking down the driveway like he lived there

He's lucky the cop was basically following him or I would have needed to bonk him with the rake.

Kinda wish I did because the cop didn't trespass him, or put him in cuffs. Just kinda gave him a ride back to Woodstock from beachville and I almost guarantee he will be back at it looking though ppls back yards in no time at all.

I even found a new button for the doorbell that lights up like the original one would have in my grandpa's stuff.

Gonna be sad when the bulb eventually goes, but I doubt I'll get around to replacing it when it does.

The bowl shaped piece had a big crack in the side, so I broke out my 100 watt soldering iron and soldered the crack after pickling the parts with acid in my ultrasonic cleaner

Sadly the fact that the parts are made of high copper cast brass has to be hidden so it's not stolen for the copper.
