Vindicating Adum by sharing this YTP that has been remastered in 4K 70mm IMAX

If a YTP can be remastered in 4K 70mm IMAX, then Hollywood needs to get there shit together and upload more trailers in original 4K quality.

Any good stories about Humanity's fate? About the aftermath of the Martian defeat, reconstruction of society and the newly obtained Alien technology?

I was wondering, what are the implications of humans obtaining new alien technology after the events of the War of the Worlds? And what if, over time, humans learned how to travel through space after extensively studying all the left over technology? With both the power of space travel and Martian weaponry, are humans doomed to be just as cruel or worse than the Martians? Conquering and colonizing all possible life on other planets across space.

I also wonder if at some point in the future, humans paid a visit to Mars. What would they find there?

NOTE: I am referencing the original book's story that is set in England, no other later adaptations.

Am I missing any dice?

I'm learning how to be a DM, but first I wanted to put together the most complete/best set of TTRPG dice possible. Let me know if I'm missing any, because I want ALL OF THEM, every variant that exists. Mostly the ones that are mentioned in D&D books.

I know it's not necessary to own that many dice to run a successful campaign, but I don't care. I'm a completionist, and I don't want to leave any stone unturned.

And before anyone mentions it, yes, I'm aware that the numbering on some of the dice is more vibrant than others. That is because the photo is technically showing two different dice sets put into one. I plan to fix that by using an old trick from the '80s, where crayon wax is rubbed into the engraved numbers. I've already tested it on one die, which turned out pretty good. I plan on doing the rest of them, so they all look consistent.

UPDATE: I found this website that pretty much lists every dice used in TTRPG.

The revival series for Doctor Who (2005-2026) is being put on hold for at least two years. Which is great because now the fan-base is finally free! And everyone, everywhere can finally have time to hit the clubs and resume their notoriously hedonistic lifestyles!

Fixed audio book chapter for the Hobbit - Read by Andy Serkis

So even though it's pretty much unanimous that the official audiobook for The Hobbit read by Andy Serkis is great, and his reading of "Riddles in the Dark" is a god-tier performance, it's not without its flaws. At some point after Bilbo slips on the Ring and Gollum starts freaking out over losing track of him, Andy misses two sentences to read in Gollum's voice.

"My birthday-present! Curse it! How did we lose it, my precious? Yes, that’s it. When we came this way last, when we twisted that nassty young squeaker. That’s it. Curse it! It slipped from us, after all these ages and ages! It’s gone, gollum.”

I don't know who or what caused this error. All I know is that it's there, and this is supposed to be an unabridged audiobook of The Hobbit, read by one of the greatest character actors of our time. So errors like this won't fly with me. I decided to take it upon myself to fix it. It took me TWO DAMN MONTHS to figure out that shit.

I considered using AI text-to-speech to fill in the gap, but then I thought, "No, it would be a sin to replace Andy as Gollum with AI slop." And odds are, it probably wouldn't have sounded good or natural anyway. Then I tried doing my own impression of Gollum and reading the missing lines myself. But holy hell, I sound nothing like Andy.

Luckily, I discovered that during the COVID lockdown in 2020, Andy did an hours-long livestream in which he read the entirety of The Hobbit for charity. It was from that livestream that I found the missing sentences had actually been read. However, cleaning up and enhancing the low-quality audio I needed, was a fucking NIGHTMARE. We're talking Zoom-call-levels bad. First, I tried reaching out to tech-savvy people on Reddit for help. Only one person messaged me, promising they would help, but they straight-up ghosted me. Lol.

I am no audio engineer by any means; I'm just a hobbyist. But eventually, I figured it out. All it took was using some free AI voice-enhancement websites, then I did some Parametric EQ nonsense in Premiere Pro to get it as clear as it is now. So this is my gift to you all, free and uncompressed.

First, make sure you've downloaded the official audiobook from reputable places like Audible, I wouldn't condone anything else. Then feel free to use my 27-second audio clip to splice the missing section into your own copy of The Hobbit.

Anyway, I've done my best. I hope it's to your liking. Peace✌️

Audio source for this Animatic?

I would like to see or listen to the full version of the show that is where this audio comes from. I've seen many slime tutorial versions of the show but I never heard this scene with such a lively and funny reaction from the audience. At 0:59, the woman's high pitch cackle at the opening lyrics cracks me up.

What was our lowest point as a human species in terms of cleanliness?

I'm not asking for individual cases, I'm asking for examples that affected large populations.
I know it's a stereotype to imagine the distant past as being very filthy compared to our modern ways of cleanliness. But just out of curiosity, I would like to know the worst kind of examples of just how bad it would have gotten for people back then. I'm looking for examples that are anything like the GIFs I sent or if possible worse.

Question: For the fans who read the books first before seeing the movies, what was your favorite parts?

NOTE: What I meant to ask was what were your favorite parts of the movies.

I genuinely want to know what it was like for some of the lucky fans who read the books first and went into the movies blind. If it were me I would have soyjacked at the Mines of Moria scenes so hard, and I still do lol, but I think it would have hit me way harder if I read the books first. I wonder which parts of the movies surprised you and blew your minds the most.

Also yes, I used this funny still of Smeagol because it is the only LOTR related thing that is, what I would consider, a soyjack moment. Speaking of which, I can't imagine how cool it was to see Gollum in the movies for the first time. 100/10 performance by Andy.

Also no I am not a bot lol, I couldn't care less about upvotes. I didn't realize this type of question had been asked before on here before I made this post. I'm just a LOTR fan who wants to get some perspective from people's first expirences.

How bad was the story continuity for the Classic Doctor Who Era?

Is there any good examples of bad story continuity? I’m considering the fact that the Classic era was made during a time way before streaming/home media and the internet. So I’d assume media literacy and criticism wasn’t as strong back then compared with today. And idk if the Doctor Who fandom back then would have been taken seriously enough if say an angry fan wrote to the BBC about a story continuity error (correct me if I am wrong in my assumption). I’m also considering the fact that there are currently 90+ missing episodes, If the BBC cared so little to preserve and archive their show then I wonder if that lack of care can also be seen in some of the stories.

Because it seems to me that their attitude for the show back then was “Eh, who cares?! It’s a silly little scifi show for kids anyway. It’s been on air for three decades now, no one will notice.”

Star Wars - Title Card to show a passage of time?

Has any Star Wars movie or show done a “8 years later" title card for example? If so then let me know because I am making a fan edit that would really benefit from using one. But I would like to remain as faithful to the establish aesthetics of the franchise and use the same fonts they use.

R.I.P. to the goat.

I'm gonna miss being able to watch high quality Anime with English subtitles that matched well with the English dubs. 😭 Sucks man. End of an era.

Cut list and plans from scrapped Prequel edit by SomethingSWRelated?

I was looking forward to seeing the fan edit 'Attack of the Clones: The Alternate Timeline' by SomethingSWRelated. A year or two ago I remembered being subscribed to his YouTube channel for more behind the scenes videos and updates on the edit. I was so bummed to find out recently that he has abandoned the whole project and fan editing. I can't even find the posts he's made on OriginalTrilogyDotCom.

Even though it seems the project was scrapped partly because the work load was too much for him, I would still like to know more about the cancelled project. I am currently working on a prequel fan edit of my own and would like to adopt some of his ideas. For example one idea I loved from his edit that I saw from one of his now deleted YouTube videos was cutting out Dex from AOTC. He did this by giving translated subtitles to the Changling assassin as they are dying from the poisoned dart. Telling Obi-Wan in it's alien language with it's dying breath "Kamino... System." I love this idea way more than having Obi-Wan visit the bad looking cgi Dex. This is an idea I will definitely use for my own edit.

So if anyone has more info on this abandoned edit, anything you can remember then please let me know.
