A specific old TOOL video circa late 00s [fully lost]

I vaguely remember as a late teen watching this awesome video set to the TOOL song “Triad”

It was on YouTube maybe around 2009-2011 and I remember it started with like a metal Valve turning some arty shots of metal pipes and valves as the song built up then when the main riff came it i distinctively remember it showing a guy plunging into white water rapids on a kayak and the rest of the video was him doing some crazy rafting down a river. It was so epic but I’ve never seen it again does anyone remember this?

Sincerely an og tool head.

Narrowed it down to two choices. Keep the white as it is or powder coat them champagne gold.

If I keep the white more money for other fun activities - or microfibre cloths.

Wheel choice for my dc5

Bronze enkei rpf1s or rota g force. Feel free to recommend anything.

Tyre size question dc5

If I want to run this wheel which is an 18x8.5 +30 and also lower the car with possibly skunk2 springs which is a decent drop what tire size can I go for on a dc5 which won’t rub? Will a 215/40/18 work? I do NOT want to roll the fenders but want pretty much visually quite low

Turns out my grinding issue the whole time was an incorrectly adjusted clutch pedal travel nut….

Seriously was going to sell my fk8 for this. What an idiot 😂

Turns out the 17mm big pedal travel nut was wound too far in and pressing up against the cmc rod which caused it to always be prematurely engaged and not allowing the clutch pedal to come to a complete rest when your foot is off. Wound it back about 2 threads readjusted the cmc to take up the slack and bingo fucking way she goes bud way she fuckin goes!

Follow this video to the letter don’t be an idiot like me. That’s all it was. Now shifting into second gear is fluid and smooth at high rpm no grinds acuity shifter feels amazing so only can imagine the amsoil will do wonders next week.

I know I’m probably getting a bit annoying to some of you but I’ve made my decision.

For the time being I’m going to keep the fk8. I’m also going to get a catless downpipe to increase the noise a bit as I’ve only got the stock muffler just with the middle resonator delete. I’m tuned so not sure if I need to go back to my tuner for this? Just something to give me a bit more enjoyment when I drive it cause maybe that’s all I’m missing is a bit of bloody rowdiness 😂

But yeah one day I’ll have the chance to get either a dc2 or dc5 but trading in this would be a downgrade for not just the reason of less power and handling.

The fk8 is newer

I know what’s been done and have record of all the maintenance in my ownership

Nothing and I mean NOTHING is wrong I’ve only ever had to replace the OEM battery and that’s it besides regular maintenance

I just recently fit a trampoline in it. (Boxed)

It turns heads makes people happy kids love it and I really enjoy everything about the car.

Would I have enjoyed the dc5 yes sure but it’s a different beast it’s also an older beast. 21 years old rubber, suspension components, engine etc I could very well be getting someone else’s problems.

So thanks to everyone who talked me into it and out of it I had some good advice and now I have a clearer picture of what to look for in the future if I do choose to buy one but for now the fk8 stays 💪

Anyone here owned both a dc5 type r and a fk8 type r able to shed some light on my dilemma please!

Ok.

This is a hard decision.

Been offered a very nice dc5 type r plus cash my way for my fk8 and I just can’t decide.

I love the fk8 it’s amazing I wouldn’t trade it up easily but I’ve had it for 3 years and I’m just after something new and getting older and harder to find in good stock form I don’t know how many dc5’s are going to come up like this at the price it is.

I have a cl9 accord type s for a daily and the family stuff so I don’t need two four doors. My wife have agreed that one fun car is fine 😂

I get cash on top for the trade in at least 8k USD which is more than enough to do all the old rubber and consumables, maybe header exhaust intake and leave it be, even could source a second lower km engine if it’s an option.

The dc5 has done 158,000km and my fk8 has done 63,000km

They want 28k nzd for it so I’d walk away with around 15k nzd cash (usd 9k ish)

It’s the age of the car that is causing me to worry more than anything but then again it’s a fucking dc5 they are amazing. More fun to drive than the fk8? From everyone I’ve spoke. To yes they are and pure hp isn’t everything. There are things the fk8 does well and things the dc5 just does better. It’s a lot of money to part with but for some reason I just think that 6-9km rpm vtec singing on a night road listening to some 80s classic rock is just going to remind me of being a teenager again 😂

This still remains one of the funniest skits I've ever seen in any media in my entire life. I smile just thinking about it and I can't watch any movie with rob schneider in it now without laughing.

So who here has actually got the second gear synchro replaced on their fk8?

How much did this end up being? Obviously I’d be taking it to a shop but what parts will I need to get in total and can these be upgraded material wise so they perform better than whatever Honda used in these?

Just want to know in case I DO need to replace mine which I’m certain it’s not completely shot just yet buts it’s good to know what I’m in for if it does need replacing.

Can’t believe I was going to trade this in. Backed out and I think I made the right choice

Was going to trade it in due to the occasional 1-2 grind but I’ve just ordered some Amsoil fluid so that combined with the other fixes I’ve done should be good. No other car on the market can do what these can for daily driving hauling stuff fun looks etc

Been scared by my Subaru ownership into getting another one however this is tempting Ver8 wrx sti

I have owned two GT legacy turbo wagons and they both gave me so many issues. However this is tempting me. Anything I should be weary of in these models apart from the obligatory “it’s a Subaru” meme response 😂

Might get some flack for this but thinking of trading in my fk8 for a dc5 type r plus id get 11k USD cash on top for the trade.

It’s a hard decision. Reason being I’m pretty over the 1-2 grind at high rpm in this car and I don’t want to damage it further. I’ve done everything (RMM,cdc delete, braided clutch line acuity shifter cable bushings clutch adjustment) BUT amsoil fluid which is getting done next week.

So if that fixes it I’ll probably keep it but if not I’m ngl the dc5 is tempting. I love the fk8 but I’ve always wanted an integra since I was a teen and there are no dc2 type r’s that are worth buying in my country but this could turn into a seriously awesome car putting that kind of money into it. (Finished product pictured near the end would be intake exhaust tune headers coilovers wheels etc) am I going to make a bad decision please talk me out of it if so 😂

Think my clutch pedal has been adjusted incorrectly

There is so much conflicting info online I really need someone’s sound advice on this because I am confused

So freeplay on my fk8

Is that the distance from when you press the clutch pedal until it gets too stiff to move by hand - that distance from not pressing it to when it starts to feel heavy is that freeplay?

Or is freeplay the amount of travel the pedal has before it actuates the cmc rod and starts to move it so in this case the floppy very start of pressing the pedal it’s like dead travel IS THAT total movement freeplay?

What has happened is my adjustment rod the 17mm was pushed too far in and the cmc rod the 12mm had all the slack taken out so the cmc rod was correct but not adjusting that 17mm properly caused issues as the clutch pedal was always slightly on

So you want essentially the cmc rod to be taken right up until no slack tighten it down then back off on the 17mm a bit so it’s not pressing against the cmc rod and prematurely engaging the clutch?

Yeah stfu too long for reddit I know

Tldr clutch adjustment needed confirmation for idiot

Tall dc5 owners

So I have owned a db8 integra which I believe is the same front interior as a dc2 it’s just a 4 door and I fit fine. As a late teen 😂

Fast forward 25 or so years and I’m keen to get a dc2 however I’m not the lean machine I used to be and I’m pretty tall at 6”4. I fit comfortably in my wife’s cl9 which has the euro r recaros and that’s not an issue but I really want a dc5 as my next fun car, I know you can get lower les seat rails but how roomy are they inside? Back seats don’t exist I know that much lol thanks

Sorry for spamming the sub but I’m new to this shifter as I got it with the car

This range here I have a RHD car can I angle this to my liking or will it stretch the cables? I would prefer the shifter rod to sit closer to me is this range just a guideline?
