New employee is not pulling weight

So it’s my first time supervising and it’s been very difficult. This new employee has made countless mistakes and shows complete indifference. I catch her on her phone immediately after starting the day and due to her incompetence she caused a massive error that affected every employee. Management has limited her duties because they no longer trust her. I ask her to do one thing literally for the entire day, and she huffs and puffs.

I don’t see the point anymore. Management suggested to outline concerns and then wait it out until her second evaluation. But I don’t see the point. She is essentially getting paid 20 dollars an hour to do nothing.

At first I agreed to outline expectations and just allow her to fail but honestly how is that productive? Why can’t we just cut the probation short? She clearly has no interest in working.

How do you find the motivation?

I want to begin exercising again to regain control of my back pain. I’ve been so stressed with work that as soon as I get home, I doom scroll into oblivion. I feel like the pain will never stop.

Reprimanding an employee

It is my first time supervising in an office job. We got a new employee. I was assigned to supervise her and noticed issues immediately. She refused to type despite the job requiring a typing certificate, she never took notes, and would not follow instructions.

However, she was a total kiss up to management and they loved her immediately. I felt disappointed because they made me feel lesser.

Management then in trusted her with a massive assignment and excluded me. So I knew nothing more than that she had a lot of work. She somehow finished quickly and we moved on to new assignments.

This week, shit hit the fan when management noticed every task within the assignment was completed incorrectly or not at all. So now everyone is scrambling to correct it.

I finally spoke up about my previous concerns and management agreed they had the same issues with her. However, the recommended suggesting typing classes to her.

They are also frustrated with her because she is so indifferent and never apologized for anything. I really do not want to work with her anymore. Management wants me to seriously talk to her and idk even where to start. Should I just stick to the facts? We provided support to her but she simply doesn’t take it seriously.

I feel jaded but relieved I survived it

As a teenager, I found myself trapped inside a man’s obsession to dominate me. He believed I was naive, adoring, and submissive. To a point, I was. But I’ve always been very cautious about flowery words and people.

He was a textbook narcissist. Loved bomb the hell out of me and left me in awe. I never received so much love and attention. Especially not from a man.

It got so overwhelming that I eventually couldn’t take the pressure he was putting on me. I knew he wanted me to see him and he kept setting up opportunities. He even flat out to me he wanted to get me alone and suggest specific sexual positions/preferences. Yet I kept avoiding him like the plague.

He let his guard down and I disappeared completely out of his life.

For years his memory plagued my mind and filled my soul with an emptiness that followed me long into adulthood. I became very jaded towards love. The years keep flying by. The less it hurts. The more I’m thankful for keeping my sanity and self away from his tainted hands.

I wish I could be truly indifferent

I’ve been very angry about a lot of things. I hate my job. I hate how little it pays. I hate how patient I have to be. I hate working. I hate my brother. I hate feeling let down.

But most of all, I’m exhausted. I just want to rest and not worry about tomorrow. I want to stop caring. I just want it to slide off my back and feel indifferent. I tell myself I don’t care and I end up caring way more than I originally intended to. I’m angry at myself for placing too much interest on truly uninteresting things.

How to stop tying self worth to your job?

I have the habit of adequating my self worth to how I’m treated and valued at work. These couple of days I’ve been experiencing negativity at work and feel really depressed/unmotivated. How can I stop?

I’m sick of the bullshit

I’m tired of the hypocrisy. The two faced attitudes. The expectations to be “bubbly” and excited to go to work. Feeling under appreciated and used while being poorly compensated. I hate that as humans we are the smartest species in the world yet this is the life we picked for ourselves? We choose to uphold these expectations and for what? To get a chance to buy things and distract ourselves from the typical mundanity of every day life.

I hate it all.

The witch is retiring

So my boss is retiring soon. She is the definition of a miserable witch to keep it lightly. She is also incredibly lazy and rides by her job by doing nothing and piling the work onto others. Especially me. She earns 100k+ a year and I don’t even earn half of that.

One day she left a print out of her retirement fund on the copier and I saw she had a million dollars worth of savings. Yet she acts like she is a miserable person with no prospects. She lives in a gated community, owns a luxury vehicle, she has no children to worry about, and constantly goes on vacation. But she is always teetering on a foul mood.

It pains me to see this parasite get through life coasting off others. To top it off, she loves throwing people under the bus. Even though she was about to leave, she didn’t hesitate to humiliate me and incriminate me over some bs.

I see her be celebrated for her “decades of dedication”. You mean barely doing her job that she is literally being overpaid to do?

Ridiculous.

New employee acts like I’m her assistant

So my job got a new assistant. She technically works underneath me, meaning I supervise her. But she doesn’t see me as her supervisor. She is very comfortable fooling around and acting unprofessional. She hasn’t even passed probation and already she takes personal phone calls and softly argues with her boyfriend.

One day, I had her train to take calls. I tell her to put on the headset and get ready to type notes. She blows me off and picks up the main phone and says she prefers to take hand written notes instead. Mind you, this position specifically asked for a typing certificate to take calls.

I ask her again and she refused. Whatever. I’m leaving this job soon anyways.

However, I find it difficult to not feel annoyed. Like today she actively sees that I’m busy actually working and she asks me “when you are done, can you help me set up my monitor stand?” I’m absolutely puzzled like you can’t do that yourself?

The higher ups assign her minimum tasks meanwhile I’m stuck with a buttload of work. To think how much this will change once I leave. Girl, good luck cuz you gonna need it.

Return via fedex drop box

I went to an office maxx today to return an eBay item. The eBay website located the nearest drop box near me which was located inside an office maxx. But I am very concerned that I didn’t do it right. The employee flat out told me they don’t scan anything so I just dropped the package inside the fedex pick up bin. Did I mess up?

I don’t want to be grumpy anymore

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been a bit of a grump. I was a happy kid but I’d get very annoyed whenever someone teased me. I wished I could let things slide off my back but I just get ticked off. Any past grumps that were able to change? How did you do it?

I’m not your slave

So I’m an office assistant. Sure I can expect to assist with various office tasks but my god has my patience ran out. The fact that we got a second assistant and I’m still expected to do stupid things like setting up tables for a lunch. I am so annoyed. They expect me to gather the food, move the items, set the table, and then clean up. Meanwhile managers do the bare minimum. I help and some how they find something they aren’t pleased with…I’ve had it. I also love how they don’t push the new assistant nearly enough as me. I am not your slave and I’m certainly not stupid enough to stick around. Ughhhhhh!!!!

Dealing with constant negativity after abuse ended

My father was very abusive towards all members of our family. The thing is my mom has never truly healed from it. Instead of learning and maturing, she loves to obsess over every wrong thing that has occurred in her life. Then when inevitably a new issue arrives, she obsesses over it. Unfortunately, we live in an area that there is a lot of conflict with neighbors being petty over stupid stuff like shared laundry space. My mom just has very short limits on managing.

She gets in her head and begins to give it a lot more importance than it really has.

The constant nagging also drives me up to the wall. I’m learning to heal and I hate being the bad guy. But up to a certain point, I tell her to stop and she continues on and on until I explode. I feel heartbroken over my circumstances because I wished the pressure of taking care of her both financially and emotionally didn’t fall solely upon me.

I feel so lost. Sometimes I feel nothing I do is good enough and like this chapter is never ending. Because she can never turn a new leaf and stop being negative.

I don’t know what to do and I don’t know how to gain patience I don’t have. I’m so tired.

Just finished watching it’s never over

I watched the documentary for the first time and loved seeing a different side of Jeff. It really humanized him and showed the real side of his personality. I was a bit shocked when they showed the circumstances behind the end of his relationship with Rebecca.

But what really stood out to me was when he spontaneously climbed up to see Robert Plant and Jimmy Page perform.

It made me sad to think his impulsivity and lust for life in a way contributed to his death. No person should live life in fear but he really was completely fearless.

By the end of the doc, I was ugly crying when his mom played the voice message he left her. Somehow no matter the years that pass, I feel so sad for this incredible human whose life was cut short. But I feel grateful to have existed in this timeline and discovered his work. What a ride.

Ego Stroke

It seems every time I develop an LO it’s due to them stroking my ego in some kind of way. I don’t have high self esteem and combined with my depression, I develop feelings for most guys who gives me attention, and in its worse case, they become my LO.

Two years ago, I developed a really unhealthy infatuation with a man who showed a scary amount attraction to me. At first, I was totally overwhelmed by him but then it began to stroke my ego and I became absolutely fascinated with this guy for no substantial reason other than that.

I’m not a person who typically gets loads of attention. In fact, people love making me feel worthless. So in a way I feel fascinated by a guy who actually likes me in any capacity.

I realize I need to work on my self esteem and find worth in my own eyes rather than to look for it reflected upon someone else’s.

I seem to chase that high everyday.

I feel embarrassed about the admission but it’s the truth.

I have to teach my colleagues how to use Word

Yup. I’ve had it. I work with older people on the verge of retirement. You’d think with 30+ years of experience, they’d be experts in Word. Given it’s the system they use all bloody day. Nope. They don’t know how to do anything. “how do I send this to you?” “Why won’t this allow me to make edits?” Are a few the most common questions I get. I teach them and they always seem to forget.

Oh yeah and they earn 3x my salary and still look down on me!

Mixed feelings about missed milestones

As a kid entering my formative years, I missed ton of milestones due to the abuse speedballing during that same time. Other kids had a strong family unit and mine was falling apart. I was isolated and affection towards the opposite sex was bizarre. I only knew anger.

I lost out on building relationships and even as an adult it continues to limit my abilities. I am cold and have always been cold towards others. I am standoffish and at times I can come across as indifferent.

The few times I’ve tried to grow and venture out, I do so in the wrong way. Interested only because they are interested. The first casual outing I had with a guy ended up with him texting me about normalizing domestic violence. So it really just wasn’t it.

I fear of being stuck without really maturing but then again I like being safe. Unfortunately the town I’m from has also higher rates of domestic violence too. So I wonder if it’s even worth it.
