WTF: India to Host Taliban’s “Victory Day” Celebration as Afghan Women’s Rights Are Erased
The Taliban is planning a “Victory Day” event in New Delhi on August 17.
“Victory Day” celebrates the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021 after US/NATO forces left.
The event is reportedly being organised at the Afghan Embassy in India by the Taliban-appointed diplomat there.
Indian officials may attend, although their attendance has not been officially confirmed.
This is controversial because the Taliban has imposed extreme restrictions on Afghan women and girls, including on education, work, movement and participation in public life.
So the criticism is essentially: Why celebrate the Taliban’s return to power while Afghan women are being denied basic rights?
India’s position is complicated: it has not formally recognised the Taliban government, but it has increasingly engaged with the Taliban for diplomatic, security and regional interests.

Do you track “what I thought when I first saw this rock” vs what actually happened?
I screenshot stocks/ETFs when I see them hyped on social media or news etc. along with my thinking at the time. Thinking as in “ oh boy the stock is expensive, let me wait a few days” or “darn! I don’t have the money to buy this now, but let me save for later” etc. weeks later I can’t reconstruct what I was thinking it if I should regret buying - just a pile of screenshots and bad memory.
Thinking about building something that logs ticker + price + reasoning over time as a simple timeline , so you can actually see the pattern.
Is this a problem for anyone else? Or just how I use watchlists provided by these trading platforms? Would you use something like this, or is logging your thoughts each time too much friction?

Spain Didn’t Just Beat Argentina—They Erased Messi and all the hype around him.
Messi’s World Cup Final was a harsh reality check. Against the first truly elite side Argentina faced in the knockout rounds, he was largely anonymous. He failed to dictate the tempo, rarely beat his marker, created very few dangerous moments, and never looked capable of taking control when Argentina needed him most. Spain’s midfield and defense comfortably contained him for 120 minutes, while Argentina failed to produce a shot in the first half and ultimately lost 1-0. For a player many call the greatest of all time, this was the kind of occasion where you expect him to rise above the system and impose himself. Instead, he was effectively neutralized, and the game passed him by. Great players have off days, but this final showed that against an organized, world-class opponent, Messi’s influence can be reduced to almost nothing. #WorldCup2026
