Tesla homage - Plaid edition
To inspire your mods, presenting Tesla Plaid tribute, mocked up on a Synoke clear/green case. Easy to swap my real Casio module in but it’s a sin to hide the gorgeous world map, so I won’t.
Bonus, red glow LED.

Realize all the issues and problems dealt with getting the Indy going but watching the Indy race in TV (fox), and truthfully there is unmeasurable value in hosting the race in town.
I’ve heard the announcers call the name Markham many times, including thanking for hosting the race, and they really have put the town’s name out there.
Hope this helps the city’s growth, I can see many business interests in the future.
Working at home as my alter-ego with Casio Duro Mdv-106, Black and blue bezel on a metal Milanese strap (Omega).
An update in my Powerloader tribute, picture 1 is mock design.
Used acrylic pen to create yellow bezel. Then tried and failed to install decals, nor water transfers to faceplate. Finally just masked off and hand painted the faceplate (acrylic paint).
Need your input: which bezel do I keep before sealing?
Pic 2: simple yellow (no wear)
Pic 3: yellow with Manga (black pen) wear lines
Option 4: keep learning to paint wear (already tried dry brushing)
I’ve realized this will not be a perfect watch mod but I’m learning a lot.
Great value from retail.
After thinking, I don’t really have a regular tool watch, found it. As a self proclaimed watch hoe (150+), i chose my wear based on mood. Today, I was in no mood, but just needed to pick one to work around the home.
The Casio MTP-S110 solar is it.
Pros:
- solar quartz = just wear and go
- cheap = not worried about breakage
- easy to read
- still produced
- Nato strap = quick put-on/comfort
- durable, rugged
- Casual wear
- Bonus: Hydro-modded = unlimited dive rating
Share your go-to beater
Link to see a real one in action.
Would love to try to build , but even better if it can be bought.
My old HK MP5K was a great beater. Was a backup gun, but got the most play as it came out when all other AEGs failed.
Time: Summer, 1983-85
Location: Toronto, Canada - Moving north (above to downward from my perspective)
Reason I ask, I distinctly remember seeing a similar craft while sitting on an apartment balcony (8 stories, north facing) with friends in the mid-80's.
There was 3 of us, just star gazing and swapping stories looking out over a large park/field. Three steady white lights (triangle placement) turned-on high up in the dark sky and moved downward (north). Paused mid sky, and after a few seconds just moved away at same altitude fading off. Whole event took a couple minutes it was slow moving (brief hovering). The 3 lights appeared to have a trail (tail) at first, I actually thought they were coordinated shooting stars, but the trail effect ended when it started hovering and were more solid in slow movement.
* Don't believe it was an aircraft as no colors or blinking lights, no sound. Plus, it looked much larger in the sky.
** Airport was ~30miles west. I.e. Planes moved East to West or West to East typically.
Thanks Domino3Dgg as I forgot about this concept.
Introducing Casio Mod art.
Just received the crappiest AliX clone that wasn’t even worth parting. What better homage to the Casio Mod community than to mount it on the wall.
Surprised I was able to reuse so many small components. I like it mounted on the craft board as well.
Keep dreaming friends.
Sharing day 2 mock-up. I’ve overcome the first obstacle, painting the bezel yellow. Thanks everyone for the advice and pointers.
- masked off crystal and case
- acrylic paint marker hand painted bezel, 3-4 layers
- water slide Weyland Yutani logo
- Yellow filter
- paper hand cut decal face
Next steps
- add wear marks to bezel (maybe)
- matte seal bezel paint
- sticker cut faceplate decal (may redesign)
- redo WY water slide to be darker (black notches)
Next challenge to overcome is the round window decal. Prove I can make a good enough yellow version, or give up and leave it stock.
This is still a work in progress.
Ai mock up image to clarify.
Anyone do this? What’s the best way to paint it?
For now, I’m thinking mask crystal and case off with tape and hand/spray paint. But wondering if there’s a better way.
First time poster on this sub but being a long time fan sharing my recently assembled Aliens Tribute.
Color print water transfer motion tracker in round window, scaled Aliens logo, and M41A in other window. Finished off with Caution decals.
Look forward to contributing more to the conversations.
Just made my first 3d printed Casio Royale faceplate, so I could recreate it in white.
You know what? I don’t like it. Not talking about refinement, I can improve that. I refer to the large areas of blankness, flat feel, and face texture. It’s missing something, and Casio did well with its text and round window graphic.
Prove me wrong so I don’t give up on this technique.
Show off your 3d printed faces!
After seeing a couple other Royale Alien watches I thought I’d attempt one. I’m a big Alien, Aliens fan and keeping it.
- clear Synoke case (Casio module drops in)
- color laser print on water transfer paper.
- clear motion tracker print in round window
- clear M41A pulse rifle for world map
- solid ALIENS logo in status window
- caution stripes for effect
Mocked up on a Synoke case/module while I wait for my other Casio Royale to be delivered. Will be Royale #5 for me.
Thanks all that enjoyed my other watch builds. Appreciate the feedback, i.e. NSX-R is Honda not Acura.
Introducing version 2.
Built on a cheaper AliX watch, not Casio. Honda logo and NSX-R name. All on a white band, in homage to Type-R.
Apologies, not for sale but if demanded I will try to make small limited number for this community. (Don’t ask yet)
Just arrived and new to me Speedmaster Reduced 39mm.
Non-original bracelet but all else is clean and functional. Pics on both steel and leather straps.
For those that ever wondered, Yes, you can install an OmegaXSwatch clear crystal protector on the reduced size. Pics are with protector installed. I polywatch polished the crystal, cleaned and then straight installed. The protector curved toward the outside.
Working from home today.
New to me. Just arrived last night. Speedy reduced for my dainty 7” wrist.
Reduced is 39mm vs 42mm Speedy pro size.
Bought this on a whim to add to my speedy (ish) collection. Doesn’t get much wrist wear but that’s because it’s so pretty.
