Do you guys play with quest help addons or without?

I'm kinda at a crossroads right now. On one hand I want to relieve the feeling I had when I started WoW back in the vanilla days but on the other hand I know that quest helping add-ons make everything much easier.

What do you guys prefer and why?

The issue with talking about overpopulation is that everyone is fixed inside a mass consumption capitalism mindset and cannot consider other options.

What the other options are, I don't know. One thing is certain, the current way these things are going will ultimately lead to a lot of social and economic unrest.

We have all seen that the system is failing. Productivity is at an all time high, while wages are stuck in limbo, this is actually a byproduct of the system and the powers at be want this to continue like so.

This system needs an infinite population growth because more population means more consumers and more manpower to fuel the machine. The machine might not have enough jobs for everyone, but that's a good thing for the elite because they can just pay miserable wages since 500 people just like you are waiting at the door to get your job.

The developed countries saw that this system ultimately removes the "urge" to have children due to all the shit that is happening all over the world, be it the housing crisis, the environment becoming all fucked up and the low wages. This is all tied to overpopulation and the infinite growth system (while we live in a world with finite resources).

The decline in birth rates wouldn't be an issue with a system that is based and focused on the things that matter, and that doesn't waste their (finite) resources on trivial products that are churned out of factories constantly. But, because we have this system we "need" a constant increase of population.

Increasing birth rates doesn't work, the system requires consumers and manpower immediately and this is what is driving mass immigration to developed countries.

Mass immigration is also tied to the system that requires it urgently to survive and keep this failing machine from imploding. Although it will implode sooner or later due to the destruction of the environment and climate change.

Talking about mass immigration is a controversial topic because people immediately assume that you are a far right Nazi, and thus aren't willing to notice that it's also a problem.

Since most people cannot or will not think outside the box and realize that this system cannot sustain itself, it's very hard to make them realize that a "demographic crisis" would be the perfect situation to change things radically if we want to survive another 200 years on this planet.

That's why most people become angry whenever the "demographic collapse" is talked about and whenever someone says (like me) that it's a good thing and we should see it as an opportunity. They are so fixed with this system that they immediately say shit like "But it will collapse society!".

I mean, mankind has gone through many cases of mass casualty events that reduced the population by a lot and still survived.

In my opinion, if people aren't having children, so be it. Let the population drop to more manageable levels.

What's your take on this?

AI companies are now buying pallets of old books to scan them and then to dispose of them.

Just saw this news from my country:

https://www.srf.ch/kultur/gesellschaft-religion/jagd-auf-alte-buecher-ki-firmen-kaufen-antiquariate-leer-und-vernichten-die-buecher

You guys can probably translate it to see the English version.

Basically many antiquity book shops in Germany noticed that they were getting purchase orders for tons of old non fiction books (1970s and downwards) from a Canadian AI company.

They found out that this company is using the books to train their LLMs and then they dispose of the books. Basically to prevent any legal action because if you scan a book and put it online you can be held liable for creating an unauthorized copy, in this case if they dispose of these books they can legally keep that online copy for their LLMs.

The fact that they are now going after physical books to feed their lunacy and then dispose of them is completely horrible.

My story with a chronic anal fissure that ended up with surgery in 2019.

Back in 2017 I had problems with my bowel movements and one day while at the toilet I strained so hard that I ended up with a fissure.

At first I didn't really think too much about it because I had hemorrhoids now and then and thought the blood was just one of those hemorrhoids that ended up bursting or something.

30 minutes after I went to the toilet, I experienced one of the worst pains I ever had in my life. It felt like someone was cutting my butthole with a sheet of paper or a razor blade.

I went to the doctor and they gave me cream with cortisone and a supplement to make my feces smoother. Things improved for a while but after a couple of weeks it started to bleed and give me even more pain.

After several doctors appointments, all they could do was give me more creams (some of which caused me severe headaches!) and they told me to wait for my body to regenerate the damage.

However this didn't happen and I was in constant pain. I couldn't even go to the toilet without having panic attacks.

For a short while I thought the issue had been solved because the pain subsided, until I noticed I had a big "pimple" near my anus that hurt a lot. One day while walking I noticed a weird "plopping" feeling and noticed that my underwear felt wet.

When I went to the bathroom I saw that the pimple has burst and a lot of greenish pus had come out.

For some reason the pain I had at that moment wasn't as big as the one I had during the fissure.

I went to ER because I was feeling hot and had a slight fever. The doctor at the ER made things worse by sticking his two fat fingers inside me to check what was going on.

I then had an appointment with a specialist and she confirmed that my fissure had turned into a perianal fistula with an abscess and I required surgery ASAP.

I had surgery maybe a couple of days later and it took me around 6 months to properly heal. The first couple of weeks were horrible because of the massive pain due to the open wound every time I went to the toilet.

Recently I had another scare but it was confirmed to be a hemorrhoid. Still, I'm now back to using stool softeners and cream to prevent any further damage.

I feel you guys. I don't wish this on anyone. This was the thing that made me realize what "a pain in the ass" actually means.

How did you overcome the fear of another fissure after having had one?

In 2018 I had an anal fissure for around 5 or 6 months, it eventually led to a fistula and I had surgery to fix it.

I remember the pain, just thinking about going to the toilet made me have an anxiety attack...

Now 3 days ago while going to the bathroom I felt pain, and noticed some blood in the toilet paper.

This made me go into panic mode, I immediately went to the pharmacy got some standard anal cream for hemorrhoids and small fissures and started taking pills that help with blood flow.

I've also started my old regimen of taking stool softeners twice a day.

Now for the last 3 days I only have minimal pain now and then, I don't see any blood when I go to the toilet, and it also doesn't hurt afterwards. Just a small discomfort feeling.

I have a doctor's appointment today to check what's going on...

I'm completely unfocused at work, in fear of having another surgery because my mind immediately goes to the worst case scenario.

Wish me luck!

The police lied to a friend of mine and gave him a fine. Is there anything he can do?

We had parked our cars in a parking spot with a 4 hour parking limit.

The time was almost up and we decided to go take our cars away because the Stadtpolizei was checking the cars already.

I took my car and parked it somewhere else. My friend stayed behind and talked with the police that was checking the cars and asked her if he could remove the car, drive it around the block and then park in the same spot.

She said "Yeah you can do that", so he did and parked the car in the exact same spot after taking the car for a drive of around 3 minutes or something.

When we came back, he had a fine for parking his car. He went to the local police station and asked what was the reason, the police that talked with him was there and said that he didn't actually drive the car in a main road, thus it didn't count and she gave him a ticket.

My friend was extremely upset and told her she lied to him and could have said that he should have taken the car to the Hauptstrasse.

They still gave him the ticket and there was nothing he could do about it.

Is this really like this? If he drove the car around and parked in the same spot, why should he get a ticket even after the police told him he could do it?

What's a good and fun EDH deck that doesn't make me think too much?

I work a lot and when I go to my LGS I'm generally quite exhausted mentaly.

I main a deck with Jasmine Boreal of the Seven. Only basic creatures, no abilities and I just focus on tokens and having my opponent not being able to block my creatures without abilities.

I've been wondering if there are similar, "simple" decks that don't require me to think too much and still have fun.

Any advice?

Having a test proxy commander deck before buying the cards. Is this acceptable?

I was looking at buying a deck worth around 1000 USD, but instead of dropping that much money I was thinking of testing it with proxies to see if I like it or not.

After asking around my LGS I noticed that most people were against this and reacted quite negatively.

In the meantime I keep seeing people with tons of proxies in their decks at that LGS, where most of their most important cards are proxies and nobody bats an eye.

But as soon as I mentioned a complete proxy deck to test it before buying it, everyone seems to meltdown.

Is this not acceptable in most pods?

My country is going to vote tomorrow on an initiative to cap the population at 10 million people. The funny thing is that taking the anti-immigration aspect aside, nobody thinks "How much growth is sustainable?"

Putting aside the anti immigration aspect of this initiative, which is basically the main focus, nobody talks about the bigger picture when speaking about this.

Nobody stops and thinks for one second about the structural and natural limits inside a country.

Obviously this initiative, if it passes, would implode the economy because the system needs growth to survive, without it, it will collapse and implode. However, it's funny to see that nobody is willing to think outside the box and realize that it's unsustainable to maintain a country that keeps growing by 200k people each year due to mass immigration.

To keep up with the growth, we would have to build a city the size of St. Gallen every single year, until there's no green areas left.

Where's the limit? Why don't people see this?
