Dialogue mistake in Transformers (2007)?

Hey all! I am a 30 year old man, whose always loved cars, especially as a boy. And like most people like me, we went to go see Transformers in theaters in 2007.

At the end of the movie, Shia LaBeouf's Sam pushes the Allspark into Megatron's chest, killing him, and the US Government drops Megatron's body into the Mariana Trench, as its the deepest place on our planet.

However, I was watching the movie earlier today, and when that moment comes up, the Secretary of Defense says "The Laurentian Abyss, the deepest place on our planet."

Not only is this NOT what I remember him saying, but its also factually incorrect. The Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench is the deepest place on our planet.

Am I crazy?

EPC light comes on, not every time I build boost/hit3k RPM, but ALWAYS when I build boost/hit 3k RPM.[Mk7]

Hey guys! I have a 2015 Mk7 SE 2-door 6-speed!

My Mk7 has the following mods:

APR coilpacks

APR Downpipe

HPFP

CAI

APR blow-off valve

APR Turbo Gauge

Catalytic Converter delete

3 inch single pipe exhaust to quad tips

It is important to note that the previous owner did these mods. I was also told it had a Tune on it, and the OBD dongle was in the glove box, but its just a simple OBDEleven dongle, and just the one that let's you change octane efficiencies. My initial plan for the car was just a fun weekend car, but now its become a lot more. But, now that you know what mods it has... here is my issue:

I blew my water pump. I replaced it on my own, over the winter. When I did that, my EPC light came on, and stayed on, and it went into limp mode.

After some research, I deduced it to be one of the following: a bad gasket between the turbo and the Downpipe or the wastegate actuator

So, starting with the cheapest, I did the gasket. It didn't even have one. Changed nothing.

So, I did the wastegate actuator. Again i did it myself, but I had it calibrated professionally at a VW shop.

This actually did SOMETHING, as my EPC light would still come on, but now it was intermittent. It would only come on around 3k RPM, or whenever the turbo started building boost. Then, the EPC light would come on and the car would go into limp mode. But, upon cycle of the key, it started anew.

So, finally, we've made progress. Or so I thought.

Then, I figured, well. My gas caps old and I have a code for a slight EVAP, could just need changed. So I changed it out for a new one. It did nothing.

So then I figured, well, perhaps when it hits 3k RPM, its getting a misfire. So I took the opportunity and replaced the aging APR coilpacks and spark plugs the previous owner had installed with new APR packs and NGK plugs.

I'm in the same boat that I was in after I changed the turbo actuator, but now I have no more threads to chase.

I wasn't intending on parts cannoning this issue by any means, but thats certainly what ended up happening. And it didnt even solve the issue!

Now, it's important to note that I CAN still hear my turbo spool up, my blow off valve working, but my turbo gauge does NOT move, and it did PRIOR to me replacing the water pump.

The only code my CEL shows is P0420 - Catalytic Converter Fault. I have read the codes while sitting normally, and while the car was idling with the EPC light on. It has made no difference in the codes.

I'm truly lost here fellas.

TL;DR: after I replaced my water pump, My EPC light comes on, not everytime I build boost/hit 3k RPM, but always at that moment. I've replaced every issue I can personally think of.

Introducing our new moderator, and the results of the poll.

Hello all!

As you all may remember, I introduced a poll on the sub regarding AI. I made a stupid joke about worshipping, and I think it confused some people. Regardless of that, the results were, well. Pretty definitive.

So, going forward, Artificial Intelligence, in ANY form, in a comment OR a post, is BANNED.

The punishment scale for first, second, third, etc offenses will come at a later time, due to my second point of this post.

I would like to formally welcome /u/nealbeast to the mod team!!!

As you guys may have noticed recently, the amount of moderation in this sub has gone down. It's because the other moderators have moved on from Reddit. Which is fine. The group of mods we currently have was instilled in this mod group was instilled when I was in my junior year of high school!

I then remembered that I graduated high school over a decade ago, and I'll be 30 this year. This, combined with the fact that I am the only remaining moderator that seems to be active (and only just so. I'm quite busy with life as well.) We (me) have decided to introduce a new moderator. So, please, welcome /u/nealbeast !

My Space Cowboy needs good weapon builds! Also, Credits.

My Space Cowboy character, on my very first playthrough (level 60), is a full blown Cowboy. Leather, hat, whole nine yards. He uses "old timey" weapons, which, considering it takes place in 2330 is any Old Earth weapon, but primarily a pistol.

Right now, I'm using Sir Livingstone's Pistol, that I just got from my parents, but I also have a Legendary Old Earth Pistol, a Legendary Old Earth Rifle, a Legendary Razorback (not Old Earth but its a revolver so it got a pass), and a Legendary Old Earth Shotgun.

Now I've been getting by just fine normally, but now that I'm really progressing into the UC Vangard storyline, I'm learning that a 12G shell to the face isn't quite as effective on Terrormorphs as it is on humans.

Anyhow, I don't really know how to make my weapons better as I'm still really struggling to earn enough credits to make it better. Turns out, much like real life, I have to have a "Project vehicle" in my garage to sink thousands of dollars into and probably never end up using 😅

So, I guess the question is

What's a good build to strive for on Old Earth weapons?

And

What's a good way to earn credits in a relatively quick and reliable fashion?

What other outdated idiosyncrasies are in songs?

At the end of the song Mr. Blue Sky by the Electric Light Orchestra, a song that came out in 1977, the vocalist, Jeff Lynne, gives an interpretive way of saying "please turn me over," referencing the fact that the song was originally released on vinyl and that there is a whole other song on the B side.

Anyways, as I was listening to the song in my truck, via Spotify, via Bluetooth, I chuckled to myself about how ELO could never have imagined this was how it would be listened to almost 50 years after being recorded.

What other examples of this phenomenon are there?

It's not as much weight loss as some other people, but I hit my goal weight. 300lbs -> 215lbs

I had some of the standard side effects, chief of which was gallstones (not entirely sure if I don't need to have my gallbladder removed just yet)

But I've officially lost 75lbs. I'm proud of myself. I had to buy new jeans, shirts, jackets, and more

Particularly you can tell the difference in the necklace I wear. I've worn that necklace for 5 years now, only being taken off for certain occasions, and how low it drapes now compared to then, is crazy.

I've also had muscle loss. Which has been extremely rough given that I have had lower back issues for over 10 years now. But, we work through it, right?

Maybe I'm burned out, but I'm struggling to finish book #7

It could be that I've exclusively readThe Expanse (this is my first ever read through) since February, but I'm about 200 pages into #7 and its just, not that interesting. I'm not liking Drummer too much, I don't like how Holden seems unaware of his stature in politics, even though he very well should be by now. I feel like I barely actually got to know Claire, and now she's dying.

Someone motivate me to finish #7 please!

This game is so big, it's overwhelming

I've always loved open world games but how in the world am I supposed to decide what to do next? I have probably 15-20 active missions, not to mention the activities!

Or like let's say I stumble across a place that has 5 safes that are Master-Level, but I havent leveled up to Master-Level locks yet. How am I supposed to possibly remember that there are 5 safes on a Derelict Ship in the Charybdis system when there's 150 other POIs that I have to return to?

There's so many things to do in this game, no wonder I'm level 25 already and I only just unlocked my Gravity powers

"Fish Out of Water" Sci-Fi Books?

Similar to the Bobiverse, where he has to come to grips with his new life, I'm looking for books where the Protagonist is a fish out of water in his environment.

Books I've read that kinda match the vibe (to at least some degree):

The Martian

Project Hail Mary

Starter Villian

Old Man's War series

The Bobiverse

Hey all!

I'm a guy from Arkansas who managed to get away from his wife and kids just long enough to check something off of my bucket list, going to all the space museums in America.

Your US Space and Rocket Center is the next on the list. My entire Saturday is dedicated to it.

But, I have no idea what do do Saturday night, or at all on Sunday. What restaurant is your must-eat home cooking food here in Huntsville?

On Sunday, my whole day is wide open. I would love suggestions. I know I can Google them, but personal opinions are always best!

Massive Space nerd here! Planning a quick weekend trip...

I would LOVE to see the US Space and Rocket Center! I'm a huge space nerd, I have seen the Enterprise, Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavour Space Shuttles in person! I've also traveled to Cape Canaveral (I live in Arkansas) to see rocket launches, and I have been to the Johnson Space Center in Houston multiple times.

I've heard great things about the US Space & Rocket Center, and I would love to go. In fact, I was planning a weekend trip to go tour it. Its about a 6 hour drive for me, but I'm able to do it Friday afternoon and spend all day Saturday at the museum. My three kids are going to be at their other parent's homes, and my wife will be at work all weekend. So it'll just be me.

Here's my problem...

I'm a 30 year old man, and it seems like (based on the website when compared to other, similar museums) that it is extraordinarily kid-focused.

I was completely all-in on going to visit, until I learned this. While my entire family loves going to museums, Space is more my niche, and I'm not keen on driving six hours to go to a child-focused museum. I'd rather go to one with true artifacts, the history spelled out for you.

Besides that, consider the optics of a 30 year old man driving six hours away to go to a children's museum by himself.

Suffice to say, I'm not saying kids aren't allowed, by any means. Again, I have three children. I get it.

I guess the real question is,

Are the exhibits geared towards kids like you would see in a general aquarium, or are there more mature explanations more like the Smithsonian?

This truck will be painted. As I apparently set a precedent with my first completed project and older daughter, this truck will be painted whatever color my 9 year old daughter picks. In whatever creative form my painter guy devises to make it look good.
