Nothing much more to add here, it's an open question about the kind of world where you wouldn't be an antinatalist. could be attainable or fantastical, societal or metaphysical, etc
i've always loved my little guy, but damn if he isnt becoming tiresome. battery change, OS updates, reduced transparency and motion, all of that, just so it kinda works. im gonna hold on to it until it literally breaks and becomes unusable, but i've already begun thinking about the next phone. anyone else feel that way?
she's an art major in uni, she does portraits and oils very well. my idea with the gift is to buy her something that's very nice in its category but too expensive to justify spending money on it yourself. thank you!
This question is a little out there but the whole stuff about qualia, love/hate, the firmament, layers upon layers of generation, combination of item essences to make new items, the faith stuff. There's a lot of shitposting for funsies in the game obviously, but i was wondering if anybody was able to play it whilst having esoteric/religious (alchemical, astrological, hermetic, etc) knowledge, with the outcome of inner transformation?
I don't have access to the game (stinky filthy mac user, but i know there are workarounds), but i'd imagine playing the same way i'd look at a surreal painting or book, kinda with your brain off whilst absorbing everything. and things eventually arise. yfm?
curious if his teammates or frisbee fans call him anything other than marques or mark, i'm sure there are many nickname candidates
there is a decades-long conflict involving so many factors, histories, perspectives, ideologies, interventions, policies. make it a mutli-part series. bring the help of experts with different perspectives. explain the various proposed solutions.
i myself am biased/inclined to a certain perspective of the thing, as im sure most people are, but i think everyone would benefit from an informative breakdown of it. i trust wendigoon to be the guy that does it. all he has to do is deliver/explain perspectives
i think we all know what im talking about, and honestly please dont say stuff in the replies with anything regarding it. this is something i genuinely want the community to consider and express as a positive thing we'd love to see from wendigoon.
has anyone tried plugin maxxing, just doing the absolute most for no reason, a complete caricature of the obsidian fanbase. i'd love to see it if it's been done.
I've been a cohen fan for years, discovered him after he died, though. This is just absolutely wonderful, i've seen clips of his son Adam singing and he is a talented guy. he has this notable performance with lana del rey where they sing Chelsea Hotel no. 2 ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CT9l9MZ5rio ) and it's wonderful, so when they say "special guests" i really do expect the best.
I hope they do a good job advertising this tour, so far it's just on their instagram, because i think there are so many more young fans (early 20s) than they think, and we're all gonna do our best to pop out!
it's pretty fire, i like the kind of discussions/posts on here. is it based off a media site, youtube channel, or an offshoot of some other tech subreddit, or did it just randomly form?
it's something i seen on TV, i always head to the loblaws butchershop out of convenience, but i suspect that's not the brightest thing i could do in terms of value and just building a nice customer-store relationship
Forget about being an all-in-one computer, we need a VR device that primarily functions as a high-resolution, spatial display machine. It could even act via HDMI to keep it versatile and low-latency. Hot swappable batteries or an external pack if needed, with lightweight, comfortable stationary usage in mind. Even if priced in the 1-2k range, it is very competitive with computer monitors and televisions, which it replaces while being more portable.
We never needed headphones to be a fancy shmancy all-in-one face computers, so i dont see why there hasnt been a clear vr competitor that excels at just being an excellent, comfortable display. i believe it would become a very real option to anyone that uses a laptop.
I'll preface to say I'm not at all a programmer, so pardon me for saying anything stupid
The increasing amount of slop is no secret, and but software as a whole, be it plugins or apps or even whole operating systems, has become increasing plagued by a set of kinda-unrelated problems that feel like they fall under the same umbrella. I'll keep it short, so practical issues of efficiency, privacy, security, and long-term support, and then ethical issues of being human-made.
I personally believe that we're in need of novel, widespread terms to be able to describe the kind of software that in principle does not have certain traits. I attached the link because I believe the term "open source" is analagous to what I'm talking about here. Everybody has an idea of what it means and entails, but it also doesn't mean that everything has to strictly follow it to a T, because it's just a word at the end of the day. It's a pledge to the user to abide by principles of being "Open Source," and I'm saying that we need new words that similarly serve as principles such as that of, optimization, long-term support, being human-made, etc.
(It's kind of like how we have terms like organic, free-run eggs, free range eggs, and of course you would end up with having a bunch of terms that dont mean anything at all, but i'm confident that a few will emerge as "standards" in the same way the term open source is.)
This could go hand-in-hand with maybe making it common practice to at least disclose the development process when publishing software. In (science) research, we're beginning to see the implementation of "AI Disclosures" to detail all such usage, to be published with the paper. surely practices like these should be encouraged in software development as well.
I'm sure there are (smaller) discussions on what exactly should constitute as "best practices" to the people that care about such things, but I've yet to see mainstream terms that go beyond only vaguely describing what we dont like ("slop").
I hope you enjoyed reading, I'd love to hear your thoughts, I dont really have programmer friends to ask about this lol
I'm not very fond of the drop-down folder structure on the sidebar menu, my eyes have been struggling with it for like 2 years, and i just now remembered that this is an (almost) open-source app... so, is there any plugin or setting or even my own code i could run to allow me to lay out my folders as i do on my desktop? i have a really specially organized view of my computer files, with icons too, and i'd love to have that same functionality in obsidian!
I'm not very 'broad' in my knowledge of the genre or what he ended up influencing, which is why I ask this question.
I know that he is a blues pianist from New Orleans that had a very high output throughout his career, spanning from funk/voodoo music to blues piano to jazz standards to even a country album post-mortem. He's even responsible for cultural impacts such as the Popeye's iingle (love that chicken from popeyes!).
I am personally very fond of him, and his voice and general sound is one of the few things that can properly pull me out of a rut. What exactly was his impact on jazz as a whole, because I dont really see him being discussed frequently. He's apparently considered a legend in New Orleans, so maybe conversations about him are limited to the blues genre only?
What was his impact, basically. Could he ever have a place in some GOAT conversation? Did he have any particular social/political impact? Any genre-changing stuff in his music? Why isn't he talked about as much as he is venerated? Idk, i guess this sort of thing could apply to a lot of musicians, like i said im not very broad in knowledge, i just like the guy a lot.
I had the pleasure of gathering articles regarding the album from online archives for an essay, i'll probably be posting one or two more of these articles i found. This article is an especially interesting read because it contains very interesting quotes from Spector and Cohen. i wont post all the quotes here, i'll give you guys the pleasure of posting them in the replies!
