We will be in Senja for two days between Aug 25-27 with our almost 3-year old : what are some things that you would suggest for this time? we will have a rental car and will be driving from Tromso to Senja on Aug 24.

Also - hoping against hope, but are the northern lights ever visible end of Aug? if yes, is there a way to track them? Thanks!!!

upper east side schools

Hello - we have an almost 3-year old and considering moving to the UES (85-95 street, 3rd/lex av). We are living in NJ now. How is the schooling system? do we need to apply months/years ahead for a spot for the kid to start preK/school? Which website do you look at to know the school ratings?? Currently kid goes to a private daycare.

H1b amendment -> do we need a new ds160

In the case the H1b is amended due to major title and responsibility change , same employer, and you get your i797 amended and get a new number. If with your old ds160 and i797 you have an interview slot, what should be done ? Cancel the slot or just fill out the new ds160 reflecting the new i797 and carry with the previously procured slot ? Thanks

some insights into Flam

We made a mistake and did book a non-refundable one-night stay in Flam at the Fretheim. It is expensive so we cannot cancel it unfortunateky :( we arrive at 6 pm - stay overnight - next morning have a 2 hour cruise and 20 mins shuttle back and then the entire day in Flam till about 7 pm -- any recos for where we can eat (vegetarian if possible), short hike/ walk, esp for our 2.5 year old kid. I get it is a tourist trap and we did get "trapped" but now that we will be there in a couple of weeks, any ideas would be great! Thanks a ton

Question about country - specific apps / phone lines etc

Hello

We are traveling from the States and have a chase sapphire reserve card (0% foreign transaction fee) and a Verizon network.

Do international cards work well in Norway ? Should I carry cash for my 10 day 3-people trip ?

I have a Verizon network - should I be buying a cellular network for my trip ?

What are some good useful apps for navigation , weather , etc that come handy in the trip ?

Do uber / Lyft operate in most places ? Specifically Bergen, flam and bodo ? And if traveling in bus, do they have an app for payment or cash/cc would be fine ?

I’m trying to get prepped and so excited for this trip ! Thanks so much !!!!!!!!!

Jacket/shoes recs for visit in August

We are visiting Norway (Oslo, Bergen, Flam, Tromso, Lofoten) end of August - the temps on the app indicate it’ll be between 15-25 degrees C. But I’ve read that it’s very windy and spells of rains during the time. What’s your favorite type of jacket and shoes to brace for this weather and enjoy without being cold or wet! Traveling with a 2.5 year old so any recs for adults and the kid would be great. We are traveling from the US. - thanks as always !!!!!!

Some help with hotel bookings

I’m trying to book a hotel in Norway (Svolvaer) if it matters. This is my first time using the csr hotel benefit. When I use the Chase app under benefits, I see the edit and the hotel benefits - and in both the locations I see some 4-5 hotels. How do o know if the hotel offers both the benefits or since it’s outside the US it would only apply for the hotel benefit ? Also A what’s the best way to book ? Using points or the csr credit card ? Ang tips or suggestions would be so useful !!!!!

Hello

We are a family of 3 with a 2.5 yo kid and arrive in tromso on Aug 22 and getting a rental car - we have two days in Tromso - after that we have about 4-5 days to reach reine driving a few hours only each day. We’ve been thinking of stopping one night at Senja and perhaps a couple in Reine itself.

Any ideas on the roads between Tromso and Reine , restaurants (we are vegetarians but good with eggs and dairy ), hikes or stops we can make through this route ?

Thanks so much !!!!!

Plan a short overnight stay near public transit

Hello

It’s my husbands birthday in a couple of weeks - I wanted to book a one night stay (perhaps somewhere in the Long Island area since we’ve never been there). Near a public transit would be great and something that’s child friendly. (2.5 year old). Any suggestions ?? Goal is relaxing with maybe some activity but nothing too over the top. Just some nice family time in the outdoors ! Thanks
