So my partner is French and I’m Aussie, getting married next July. We are settling in France and thus we are having a ‘French wedding’ and maybe 80% of guests will be French. Our budget is only 20k and I’m trying to find ways to bring a bit of Australia to the wedding that I think the guests would enjoy. At first I thought Aussie food and then I realised our food will never hold a candle to theirs 😂 now I’m thinking flowers, most of which I’m diying. I was thinking one one side of the aisle the flowers could all be French and on the other Australian. Thing is they would probably have to be dried if I want them cheap. Anyway if anyone has ideas I would love to hear them!

Sorry but I gotta vent… I’m so sick having to ask vendors for their price range. Yes I know the season and date changes the price but I’m sure they have a minimum they always charge. I email them and the tell me, I don’t know why they can’t just put it on the website. Photographers all wanted a phone call to discuss my ‘vision’ before even giving me a range which wastes both our time. Some people may say ‘if you have to ask you can’t afford it’ but I’ve had quotes ranging from 1k to 50k, regardless of the price bracket they don’t state it on their website. Also an investment is an expense that in the long term gives a return. It is not a service that you consume once off like food, flowers etc. Rant over lol

Ad the title says. Bit stressed over planning and it would be fun to have some people to chat to who are on the same timeline and might share the same date!

So my partner and I are getting married next July near Paris (he’s French) and I’ve made a list of photographers that are highly recommended, well known kinda guaranteed to work out. The cost of these is about 10% of our budget. But he has a friend who’s a photographer who said she can recommend some other options who are not well known and thus way cheaper. It just makes me nervous as if our photos mess up I’ll be honestly heartbroken. But maybe I am being indulgent wanting to hire a very fancy photographer. Thoughts?

I’m making an 1860s corset and am choosing the fashion fabric. I’m not going for historical accuracy but I’m drawn to silk satin. I’ve read it’s basically the hardest you could possible choose, so then I thought taffeta? I know cotton is the best choice but I want a more luxurious look. I also don’t use synthetic fabrics. If anyone has any recommendations I would appreciate it ❤️

I’ve been on Effexor for years and just found this subreddit and am wondering if anyone else gets this. My morning schedule is quite irregular and sometimes I take my meds like 2-3 hours later than planned. When this happens I start smelling so bad from my armpits, not necessarily sweating more but you can smell me from like 2 meters away. It lasts for days and when I shower I scrubs as hard as I can but the smell doesn’t go away from washing. Anyone get this too?

I’m keeping exact details to a minimum as I don’t want to get in trouble. I’m at an ancient site in the Mediterranean region , it’s a mass grave. The professor running it has been doing it for decades and is very… old fashioned. We aren’t recording contexts and don’t have a total station because he doesn’t want to buy one. I think in this site we have about 4 levels right now. Bones are being removed with no recording of their existence despite it being a very complex burial and it seems all he cares about is finding ‘treasure’. Even worse, he’s inviting friends with no relation to archaeology to stay for weeks at a time so they can have a go. He’s even had us rebury stuff for them to find. Someone has to always watch them because they destroy things, multiple skeletons have been lost because of his friends. And they are on the permit obviously. I don’t know what to do, this is grave robbing. I kinda want to report but if they find out it was me it could be very bad. I need some guidance please

Edit: I’ve told a friend who works in the department and she’s going to report for me so I can be anonymous. If everyone can give me some words of comfort it would be appreciated… I feel like a horrible shit stirrer even though I know I’m right and honestly I’m heartbroken because it’s a special site and 1. This happened and 2. I was told I could work here every year and I’m upset

I’m looking for someone to do both my hair and makeup and have noticed a majority of makeup artists who say they do hair when you look at the pics it’s all super simple plain buns and loose curls. It makes me think they can’t actually do anything else. Anyone else noticed this?

My budget is 20-25k not including dress/ring and we have spent5.5k on the venue including accommodation for 18 guests and next morning breakfast. We will have 40-50 guests I think, and won’t be having a rehearsal dinner or bridesmaids. I’m in France and it’s looking like I’ll spend 1.4-2k on hair and makeup as my venue is in the countryside and therefor considered ‘destination’. I’m struggling to figure out if we can afford a videographer and if we need one. I want good footage of us saying a cows, the reception etc but I’m not posting online or anything it’s just for us, it doesn’t have to be cinematic quality just nice. Should I just ask some guests to film? Videographers are very expensive here, minimum 3k. Any advice appreciated

Hi everyone I’m an archaeologist and would like to make a model of a trench with skeletons in it that’s about 3 x3 meters so I can’t just go around the outside I have to get in. The problem is because of all the weird positioning of stuff in there I don’t think a tripod will be viable and my photos always come out shaky when handheld. What parameters are ok? It will be pretty strong outdoor lighting. Any advice appreciated

I’m having a wedding 1.5 hours from Paris and have been looking at hair/makeup packages. Most are around 1k not including trial but if the location is more than an hour from Paris it’s compulsory to get the destination wedding package that includes a bunch of extra stuff I don’t want for 1.8k which I just can’t justify. Every person I’ve reached out to has basically said this is their arrangement. Should I stay in Paris the morning of and then be driven to the venue? I’m not sure what to do
