Colossus: “No, You Did Not Convince Me. But…”

I took forever to get around to watching this series. I didn’t finish season two until a few weeks ago.

This morning, at breakfast, I remembered this exchange between Nightcrawler and Colossus.

I remembered the next line that Colossus says to Kurt, and suddenly I was crying over my breakfast.

This show has been such a gift with the way so many moments have been handled. Plenty to nitpick, for sure, but damn the Colossus episode ends with such a strong emotional mic drop.

Good (Niche) News: An Older, Out of Print Cartoon Art Book is Being Reprinted

I saw there was a recent call for good, uplifting news.

If you've never seen Over the Garden Wall, it's a 10 episode cartoon mini-series about two brothers lost in a very strange, very dark forest. Highly recommended! Every episode is about 11 minutes long, so you can easily watch the entire story in one sitting.

Their limited edition art book has been out of print forever and has commanded very high resale prices.

San Diego Comic Con is currently happening in San Diego, California, and it was announced the art book is being reprinted and is now up for preorders! I'm so happy to finally reserve one (although it isn't estimated to ship until February 2027 lol).

US Bruhs: what’s your air quality index reading today?

DC area is all fucked up from the wildfire smoke. It was over 250 yesterday though.

Hoping that none of my bruhs have been truly affected by the fires.

H Street is getting a "Slutty Vegan" restaurant. Who is their target audience?

So, here's a menu for Slutty Vegan that's opening next to Cava on H Street NE, and I'll paste some of the copy here so you can get a feel for their branding:

  • Plant-based patty loaded with Slutty Strips vegan bacon, vegan cheese, onions, lettuce, tomato, and our Slut Sauce on a vegan Hawaiian bun.
  • French fries with our signature Slut Dust™
  • A freaky little wrap stuffed with crispy chik'n strips, vegan bacon, romaine tossed in Caesar & ranch--rolled up tight and ready for action

Like...who is their target audience? What's the core demographic of people who want vegan burgers and sandwiches who also say, "Hey, let me get some extra SLUT SAUCE on my Sloppy Toppy vegan burger."

For the DC Redditors: does their ultra-cringe slut menu call out to you and make you want to go there when it opens? I feel like maybe H Street, 15 years ago, as an easy Uber destination for bar crawl crowds would have worked. But seeing the neighborhood now, I'm not sure that this approach is going to be much of a magnet.

Help: How Were the DBZ Ani-Mayhem Promo Cards Distributed?

Z-Fighters of Reddit: back in the day, I collected the DBZ Ani-Mayhem card game. As a game, it absolutely sucked to play. As a young DBZ fan, it was the only game in town.

I spent nearly all of my allowance on packs. I even lucked out by stumbling into some of the promo card giveaways via Scrye magazine and Inquest magazine. I was an early eBay buyer, as well, and that definitely helped me get nearly all of the remaining promos.

Here's the thing: I want to know where all of them came from. There are several that I can't find a point of origin for.

Here's what I've been able to put together:

  1. Final Stand - Scrye Magazine
  2. Frozen - Scrye Magazine
  3. Power Pole - Scrye Magazine
  4. Kids These Days - InQuest Magazine
  5. Yajirobe's Hog - Suncoast Video Giveaway
  6. I Like To Watch- Either a Mail-In or a Convention Giveaway
  7. Alliance - MYSTERY!!!!
  8. Confusion/Voyeur - MYSTERY!!!!
  9. Immortality - MYSTERY!!!!
  10. Gohan's Dragon Ball - MYSTERY!!!!

I'm hoping that maybe, together, we can solve some of these mysteries. Let me know what you know!

PSA grading charges you more if you get a good grade on a valuable card

So, for those who don't know, PSA can charge you a "grading cost adjustment" if your graded card is going to be extra valuable on the secondary market.

I have just found out because one of my favorite cards is coming back at a 9, but while the upfront charge was $24.99 for grading it, they emailed me to let me know that they "have to" change the grading cost now to $74.99 for this one particular card.

What a business to be in!
