for those with more than one kid, did you skip HG with any pregnancies?

I had MISERABLE hg when I was pregnant with my daughter- almost died from dehydration and had to be admitted into a hospital for a few days. I just found out I’m pregnant again and I’m terrified. Am i cooked or were any of you able to skip a pregnancy from hg?

anybody else’s sciatica caused by childbirth?

I had a baby a few months ago, and i don’t remember my sciatica being that bad at all. i had a few days where i was uncomfortable but it was manageable. I know a lot of women struggle with sciatica in pregnancy but I don’t remember ever struggling with it for more than a few days🤷‍♀️
fast forward to now and it feels like everything below my torso has just been destroyed. I have zero core strength, I can’t cross my legs without my pelvis aching, and worst of all, I have DEBILITATING sciatica. It hurts so f-king bad. it gets to the point where im bed-bound sometimes and debating on getting a mobility cane.
i know a lot of people say to walk it off and exercise but that’s the thing that makes it flare up. anything more than a few steps a day and i become paralyzed.
any other mothers going through/went through this? what’s your experience?

calling toddlers “babies”

no, your badly behaved 2 year old climbing on a table and screaming isn’t “just a baby.” that’s just a result of you being selfish and not letting your kids grow up.

EDIT: for context I’m also a parent and will be holding other parents to the same standards ☺️

Just found out I’m pregnant at 3 months pp

How would you describe your life with 2 under 2? I’ve been sobbing all day while my husband tries to console me :(

Strongly considering abortion.

I don’t know what to do. I’m devastated right now. It honestly feels like God has abandoned me and is laughing in my face right now.

I’m currently 3 months postpartum. When I first got pregnant, I was extremely sick. I threw up close to 12 times a day and eventually had to be hospitalized because I couldn’t keep food or water down (was later diagnosed with hyperemesis graviderum). For the remainder of my pregnancy, I was always sick with something. Colds, flus, infections, etc. It was like my immune system completely disappeared. After all of that, I had a very traumatic birth. I had 3 failed epidurals and once she was born, I almost died from infection and fever. My postpartum depression was so bad I started hallucinating and had to go on antidepressants.

Safe to say, my pregnancy and birth experience was hellish to say the least. I love my baby girl so much though, and I for sure wanted to have more babies in the future. Not this soon though.

I just found out I’m pregnant again and I’ve been losing it. My husband and I were trying to use NFP as much as possible but my cycle was super irregular and it was hard to keep track.

I genuinely don’t know what I’m going to do. How am I going to take care of my baby if I’m throwing up 12 times a day? How am I going to raise 2 babies at once? I don’t even have a family around to help. How am I going to be dealing with tantrums and a newborn at the same time?? I’m not ready in the slightest. My body isn’t ready.

I know it’s wrong. I know my husband will never forgive me. I know I will never forgive myself. And I know it’s highly unlikely that God will forgive me if I knowingly commit a sin. But I can’t do this. I feel trapped and like I have no choice. It really feels like my only option right now is to terminate.

Do you have kids? How do you find time to paint?

(Specifically for traditional painters)

I just had a baby 11 weeks ago and finding time to do anything I enjoy has been a hassle. Art is my passion and I can’t imagine never being able to do it again ☹️ I’ve tried doing digital art to save the time and mess but I don’t enjoy it as much. How do you find the time??

Is this mean?

So I have an 11 week old daughter that I’m pretty much solely responsible for. I have her for like 22-23 hours and my husband might take care of her for a few hours after work and during the weekend. I feel like it’s safe to say I’m really fucking tired and every day it just feels like I’m surviving, not living. I don’t have grandma or a cousin to just pass the baby to when I get a little tired like my in-laws do.

With the in-laws knowing how tired I am, they told us they wanted us to host the 4th of July. I was iffy about it but eventually decided I’d work extra hard to cook and prepare everything on top of taking care of the baby, and my husband went out of his way to pay $250 for it all. After hours of me cooking and preparing the house, only TWO of them showed up because they were “tired” (they don’t have a baby). They pretty much scammed us.

2 weeks later and they want to host a surprise birthday party on a Saturday for my husband’s grandma, the one day out of the whole week that I at least get a few hours to myself. My husband insists that we attend, but I’m going to be completely honest and blunt here- with how tired I am, I couldn’t give less of a shit whose birthday it is. You have a birthday every year. I genuinely just want to spend my Saturday taking a few hours to myself to relax. Not trying to impress in-laws who barely even like me. And with how they ditched us on the 4th of July, I feel like my decision is justified, even if the main reason is because of my exhaustion.

Is this mean? Or should I go to the party?

Husband woke baby up

Ranting because I don’t want to lash out at my husband.

I have our baby ALL day and night. The only times when I don’t have her are a few hours a day when my husband is home from work. That’s my time to relax and not have a million things going in my head at once.

Husband has the baby, she’s giving him hell and fighting sleep. I generously take her and rock her to sleep for him, and the SECOND she falls asleep, what does he do? He loudly belches, twice, next to me. Baby immediately wakes up and cries.

I insisted that since he woke the baby up by being a dumbass he can just soothe her and he said he can’t because she only falls asleep with me 🙄

Im so pissed.

Baby sleep schedule

When were y’all able to establish a sleep schedule with your baby? My 2 month old has been practically nocturnal since birth. She pretty consistently would fall asleep at around 6 am and wake up at 5 pm-6pm. A few days ago we FINALLY got her to be on somewhat of a schedule. Put her down for bed at 10:30, wake up at 7:00. I’ve been taking her outside during the day to get some sunlight and putting her on a strict bedtime routine so she knows when to sleep.

Well, that all got thrown out of the window. Yesterday she decided she wanted to start the day at 3 am. I thought it was just a one time thing and that we’d be back on a schedule but nope, it’s currently 4 am and there’s no signs of going back to sleep 🫩

When did it get better for you? Am I expecting too much of her too early? And how do I put her on a good schedule?

[misc] Are these salvageable?

I had a baby 6 weeks ago and ever since then I’ve been disgusted with my body. I had a ton of stretch marks when I was pregnant and I thought they were manageable but once my baby was out and my stomach went down, stretch marks appeared that I never even knew were there. Every time I look in the mirror I’m disgusted with my new body. The flash does it some justice but my whole stomach is flabby with loose skin and DEEP red stretch marks, and now I have an apron belly that flaps over. I look at other postpartum moms online to see if they’ve been going through anything similar and all I see are moms with flat stomachs and smooth skin that bounced back immediately. It makes me feel terrible.
Are these salvageable? What can I do to fix before it becomes too late? I just want to feel pretty again

Baby sleep schedule

Does anybody else’s baby still have their days and nights mixed up? My girl is 6 weeks old and she will stay up all night, fall asleep anywhere from 5-8 am and sleep with me usually until 5 pm when my husband gets home. Every time I see another person with a newborn they always talk about how their baby wakes up throughout the night but mine just straight up doesn’t sleep at night 🥲 I tried correcting it when she was younger but it just ended up with me being extremely sleep deprived and didn’t work at all, plus I learned that they don’t develop a circadian rhythm until 3-4 months. So is there any way at all to fix this or do I just have to wait until she’s of age to correct it? I’m practically nocturnal right now lol

Breastfeeding frustration

Just coming here to vent.

I had my baby 5 weeks ago and my daughter immediately latched perfectly with no issues. The only problem was that I had extremely sensitive nipples and as soon as she started cluster feeding I couldn’t keep up. My nipples were on fire and she needed to eat. I reluctantly resorted to formula feeding and for the last few weeks she’s been exclusively bottle fed while I’ve been pumping to get my supply up. My nipples are finally strong enough to withstand the suction and I have enough supply to where it’s literally painful if I don’t pump.

I finally tried to breastfeed again and it wasn’t successful. Since then she’s latched a few times but she’s overall she’s really struggling. I try to start when she’s showing signs of hunger and not crying about it yet but it doesn’t seem to really make a difference— as soon as I try to get her to latch, she becomes absolutely inconsolable; screaming, crying, flailing around. Not even the nipple shields work. Eventually I just start crying out of frustration of feeling like a failure and now we’re both miserable.

This whole time I reassured myself that I’d find a lactation consultant. Surely it’s just a technique issue and all of this will be over when I find help, right? Wrong. I just found out that my insurance doesn’t cover it, and since I literally just had a baby and need to spend even more money replacing a car battery, I can’t afford a $300-$400 consultation.

I’ve just been sitting here sobbing in defeat. All I’ve ever wanted to do was breastfeed and I gave up early, thinking it’d be fine. Now she doesn’t latch, I’m chained to a pump all day, and getting help is completely out of the cards. I’m stuck feeling like a failure.

Preferences

Does anybody else’s baby have preferences when it comes to what you eat? Is this a normal thing?

I pump and used to store milk for my baby but had to switch over to just mixing fresh milk into her formula because I have high lipase. Recently I’ve noticed that my baby will occasionally refuse bottles to the point of SCREAMING until she turns purple unless I make a whole new bottle for her. Most bottles she’d be okay with but with some she’d act like I mixed bleach into it or something 😭 After a few instances of this I finally put it together- she does this every time I eat onions! Lol

To be clear, it doesn’t seem like she’s having any sort of physical/allergic reaction. She’s perfectly fine as soon as I give her another bottle. So I genuinely think it’s a taste thing

Is she actually tasting the onion when she drinks the milk? I always just assumed milk tastes like milk no matter what. And is there a way I can enjoy onion without it bothering her? 🥲

I can’t do it anymore

TW: mentions of self harm and suicide

I (19F) had a baby 12 days ago and I can’t do it anymore. When I married my husband, I thought I wanted a baby. I begged for one. I thought I was responsible enough and that that was the next step in our relationship that we had to take. He eventually agreed and 9 months later, I’m miserable. I love my little girl so much. I’d do anything for her. When I see her, all my feelings are gone temporarily. But I’m so fucking miserable. I thought I was ready but I wasn’t. I go to sleep every night hoping I don’t wake up, and when I do, I dread the day ahead. I spend the day sobbing my eyes out, realizing I made a life changing decision I can’t just back out of. I’ve resorted back to an old habit of cutting myself to cope. It feels like I’m punishing myself for being a bad mother. I’ve strongly considered suicide to escape my problems. I finally reached out for help a few days ago but I’m scared it won’t really solve anything.

My husband is overwhelmed with how often he has to take over for the baby because I’m so out of it half the time. I’m overwhelmed. The worst part is that I love my baby so much. I mourn the life I had before her but I need her as much as she needs me. I’m stuck.

EDIT: thank you all for the advice. My provider finally reached out to me and I’m now starting a prescription of antidepressants and anxiety meds. I really really hope this helps. My baby needs me and right now I just don’t feel present

So like, how do I do stuff with a newborn?

I’m freshly postpartum, just gave birth 11 days ago. So far my baby has been pretty easy to take care of and I’ve been able to do whatever with my husband on paternity leave. Well, it just now clicked with me that I won’t have him to pass the baby off to once he goes back to work this week.
So how do you guys get stuff done with a baby? How will I be able to use the bathroom? Take a shower? Cook? Clean? Pump? Self care? Let me know!

Itchy itchy why am I so itchy!

To those who chose to get an epidural, did anyone have super itchy legs during the days following birth? Omg, it’s so bad! I had to get 3 epidurals so maybe my side effects are more intense than others but my legs have been SOO itchy these last few days. My husband says I look like a tweaker from how violently I scratch them! 😭
