When you walk up to her kennel, she has no expression in her eyes. She’s absolutely devastated that she’s there. You can feel her thoughts.

Once she has a kennel break moment for potty break, she’s a completely different dog. She shines, wiggles, kisses, snorts. Shes most obsessed with snackies and chew toys. It’s all she wants.

We are looking for a SoCal ✨bully breed loving committed foster for 6 months✨ under a solid legit rescue.

Amber is 2yrs old , 60lbs ish short - but strong 💪 short stack.

Her shelter notes share that she can be with calm dogs only - she has some sass in her wiggle butt so her match would have to be assessed first with one of the trainers.

An Amber fan in her last post said she’s “A peach 🍑 who knows her boundaries and how to communicate them safely” 😭😭😭

Before Agoura shelter, Amber was at Lancaster shelter. She was dumped there after breeding but luckily Agoura shelter pulled her when they had an empty kennel and saved her life 🙏

I heard about Luca today and will share him everywhere to find a solid bully breed savvy foster.

What we know about him:

He’s 1.5 years old, loves playing with dogs a lot, has a girlfriend at the shelter called Myra (featured in the video) is content with playing ball, and is so sweet and good that he became a shelter play pen dog helping others be more comfortable.

But for some reason he’s one of those who is overlooked. A hidden gem.

Us volunteers are looking for a long term committed foster in SoCal.

As soon as we find one, we will work on pitching him to only legit and solid bully breed rescues.

Because he’s in the kennel 23.5 - 24 hrs a day (play pen time is note very day) Luca put on some lbs due to less exercise. He’s about 80lbs now but was 70lbs in April on his shelter intake date.

Please connect if you’d like to add Luca to your family under a rescue who will work towards finding his forever family.

Gabe’s shelter volunteer visited him over the weekend and shared her shelter playpen assessment notes about him.

I’m also attaching the shelters assessment behavioral notes.

She shared that he is :

“He’s so so sweet.
He’s easy, a really good & gently boy.
No behavior issues, takes treats gently, really friendly.
Not barrier reactive.
Likes to play, loves treats.
He played with a female Doberman in the shelter’s assessment playpen.”

If you live in SoCal and have the availability in your home to foster Gabe for at least 5-6 months so that a rescue can find him a forever home- please let me know.

Because Downey dogs have 2-3 weeks tops, we need a committed and ready to go foster by this week.

Once we find someone we will work around the clock to find a solid legit rescue for him.

I remember when this sweet boy was first pulled from Downey shelter near Los Angeles in 2023.

A 17-year-old girl posing as a rescue in her 20s pulled him and his foster kept him in the garage, then he was lost, then he had to back to back man who kept him locked up for a couple of years.

After us volunteers were able to locate him and negotiate him back the community helped fund raise for his training.

A training facility in Oregon wanted to help board him long-term because it was the only option for the local rescue in Los Angeles that they could afford.

Now that he’s there in Oregon, we are trying to find him a home for the first time possibly in his entire life so I’m hoping that anyone here knows someone in Oregon who is a bully breed lover 😭🫶

The reality of Pumba’s past is almost too heavy to speak out loud. He didn’t just have a rough start—he was systematically failed by all of the people whose job it was to protect him.

He was used and abused in a brutal dogfighting ring. When he was finally extracted from that violent situation, his rescue abandoned him alongside 50 other dogs. His next placement was no sanctuary either; he was locked away in a scorching desert kennel for two years, denied medical care, and left to suffer until his skin was raw and covered in severe urine burns.

By all logic, Pumba should be terrified of people. He should be broken.

But instead, his heart remains completely open. He still looks at every human with pure, unconditional love. He doesn’t hold a grudge against the world that tortured him—instead he wants humans of his own.

Pumba desperately needs a foster or an adoptive home where he will never know fear, pain, or neglect ever again.

I will be visiting him this Sunday at his new home and will be making a video about everything.

As for now, this is a clip that his new mama sent :)

…so he will be returning to board and train this Sunday and I will start from scratch & continue looking for his SoCal forever home 🙏

His temp foster is moving to Oceanside this Sunday and as the house will be going through a lot of construction and at the same time, she starts her new job at a medical trauma unit leaving the house at 5 AM and returning at 9 PM - it’s just one of those things we’re finding him a forever home is just essential.

The good news is that the trainer already loves and knows him and boarded him earlier in the year when his temp foster had to work out of state.

This time around we will also try to test him with cats.

His rescue GWLD (girls who love dogs) saved him from high kill Downey shelter last year.

But when his adopter turned out to be fake, it derailed his entire journey. Last year at another boarding facility he tried to hurt himself, trying to get out of the kennel.

It’s a lot huh 😩

Moving forward, it’s just his time now for Forrest to step into a beautiful life.

He’s sleepy house hippo and just wants to be on a sofa.

“The behaviors described today reflect the dog’s responses in an Animal Care Center environment and during assessment. A dog’s behavior in an Animal Care Center may differ significantly from how they behave in a home.”
Nala was initially cautious but was safely handled and generally tolerant during intake and assessment. In the play yard, she showed a mostly neutral, independent demeanor, preferring to keep distance from playful dogs. She had one brief scuffle after being jumped on, but handlers were able to redirect and separate her without difficulty. She appeared more relaxed in a quieter setting and was more comfortable with handler interaction than with other dogs.
During assessment, Nala was affectionate and allowed full handling, though she showed some sensitivity when her paws were examined.
Nala is recommended for public adoption, medium energy, and would likely do best in a calm home as the only pet. (no other dogs required)

His name is Forrest and he went through a lot to get here.

It’s one of those scenarios where it’s kind of like a final lap and he’s almost close to being home.

He was rescued by Girls Who Love Dogs from Downey shelter last year.

Because he had a fake adopter who wanted to make money off of him, they caught on quick and luckily, they did not put him on transport to the East Coast.

But instead, because no long term foster stepped up,
Forrest had to go to boarding. And let me just say this, he did not do well in a boarding kennel.

He tried getting out and would continually cause little cuts on his paws. When I caught wind of that, I asked the rescue if I could join in for supplemental support and the community donated so he can upgrade towards an incredible board & train program while we found a foster.

And a great one is found, but on June 7th, not only is she moving, but her schedule turns into 12 hour shifts because she works in the medical trauma unit.

She is located in the Long Beach area and we have a few more weeks to find him either long-term foster home or a forever home.

Because of time and distance and having him stay close to the rescue, we are essentially looking for a loving SoCal home only at this time.

Can be with another dog depending on temperament.
He can love a dog but get excited, kiss intensely and then cause another pup to be overstimulated depending on their temperament.
If they are chill and tolerant it can be a match.
Otherwise he can just kiss his owner & be content.

He’s a bit shorter than his videos, not necessarily a low rider, but maybe just a few inches taller.
He’s aloof and funny & affectionate at the same time.

Originally he was going to be transferred to Agoura shelter since they are sister shelters, which would give him more time so that networkers and a rescue can help find him a foster.

but Downey canceled the transfer because he has a few days left of his kennel cough and Agoura shelter is not allowed to have a dog who is still on meds be transferred to their shelter.

This sadly means that Moo has jumped up to extremely urgent on the list.

If you are able to foster him for a couple of months, please text one of the main Downey shelter volunteers Jenn immediately.

His last chance is to find someone within a day or two at most.

She will be able to connect to a rescue as his Hail Mary chance.

We are looking for a 1-2 month foster for him before he boards a Wings of Rescue flight to his forever home on the East Coast.

He has a few more days left of finishing up his kennel cough meds (Doxy) at medical boarding.

Ace was nearly put down this morning & he knew what it meant to cross that freedom gate 🙏

He is a 1 year-old 43lb puppy whose family moved and then left him at Downey shelter. Within the last few days, Ace was pushed to the top of the list to be euthanized.

It became a 36 hr around the clock collaborative effort to save this sweet boy who is now safe thanks to @puppycoalition @dogloverrescue @therealdavidchokachi & @jenncohen1

I first saw him a few nights away while scrolling; his eyes reminded me of Bruno who was saved from this very gate this time last year.

Thank you to all the Downey networkers who do this every single day, for @my_dexy_dex who filmed Ace to be seen on @share.for.love

Ace has kennel cough so he went to medical boarding & got to see a vet right away & ensure he’s receiving the right care.

Sometimes upper respiratory infections turn into pneumonia so he’s resting up for the week & healing before he can be fostered/adopted.

Following the introductions, Ace moved on to explore, sniffing the dogs he met along the way. Ace eventually engaged in play chase with some of the dogs.

He took brief breaks to solicit affection from the handlers.

For the rest of the session, Ace continued to socialize nicely with his new friends.

Once the session concluded, he remained in the yard to begin his handling assessment.

As he rested playfully on his back, the handler performed a full evaluation, examining his ears, mouth, abdomen, tail, and paws without issue.

Ace was mouthy with minimal pressure but easily corrected.

He displayed a relaxed posture, with an

open mouth pant, a soft gaze, a loose tail wag, and a natural ear set. Once the session concluded, he was allowed to return to the yard to continue socializing with the other dogs.

"Baloo is fully crate trained, but really doesn’t even need one. He is fine for multiple hours by himself as long as he is fulfilled (which should be the case with every dog!). Non-destructive and beautiful, calm, adult dog energy. He is looking for people that understand bullies and can give him his dream life after so many years of instability. He is waiting too long to be chosen, but we will keep advocating for him. Please help us find his home 🙏 Message me with any questions or apply to adopt him through his rescue Good Tails."

Baloo is looking for his forever home in SoCal with a savvy bully breed lover who will love & share a cozy a home with him for the rest of his life.

Survived euthanasia at Downey shelter as a puppy only to spend a couple years at Agoura shelter (with a family who loved him for two years in between but couldn’t keep him due to the husband having allergies ).

This boy has gone through so much loss - but he understands love like nothing else. He is s starting life again at 6, but this time with a hope that he will get to live out his life with someone and be their whole world.
