TSA Setting Boundaries

This I watched at the airport a month or so ago.

I was going through TSA. This lane has the 4 little lanes where you put all your stuff in a bin, push it to the middle row, and then the conveyor belt automatically moves from the middle row to the back row where they roll into the scanner.

TSA is very clear that you dont walk away till your bag clears the first row and you push into the middle row - then you can go through the scanner.

(I hate these setups personally but it is what it is).

So ahead of me, a lady who worked in the airport goes through - she puts her purse and lanyard and such in a bin, and walks off through security, leaving her bag in the first slot.

The TSA agent decided to not touch that bin, nor to let anyone else touch it. So for the next 8-10 people we all used the other 3 lanes, passing our stuff on. This continued after we went through the scanner, he continued to leave it untouched.

Meanwhile the airport work lady was on the other end of security waiting for her bag, and waiting and waiting. As we went through she is starting to get agitated and trying to get attention of the TSA workers to figure out how her bag has gotten lost. Meanwhile her bag is still sitting in the first bin slot.

I dont know how long this played out, I got my bags and headed for the gate - but if nothing else this airport worker lady probably learned a lesson about how to use these lanes!

GOP Governor Candidate’s Daughter Rakes Mom Over The Coals: ‘Sounds Like Trump’

Apparently the Mods didn’t like a more toned down summary title for this post so here is the original HuffPost title which I thought was “sensationalized”

This is a worthwhile topic for a MN sub given the election.

What are my odds of getting a refund?

So I booked a ride , showed the driver was a few minutes away, then showed the ride was in progress, but the driver had never gotten all that close to my pick up location. The driver then showed they were on the way to my destination without me, but I messaged them they said OK I got it , then I thought they might be turning around, but they just drove for a bit and then the trip ended. Not at my final destination. I was charged by Uber for this trip the full price that I was originally quoted , all of my attempts to trigger a refund with the typical app based report reports have led to nothing so far. The trip was a few days ago, how would you escalate this to get some attention? It’s not a huge amount of money, but I’m not paying for a trip that was never actually delivered.

Ant Attack!

Not Lyriq specific issue but had my first ant attack today! Car is charging overnight at home on a level 2 charger in the driveway with the cord coming out of the garage, come out to leave this morning and there are 100s of ants all over the fender, on the hood, spreading out from the front drivers panel with many in and around the charging port.... they were marching up the charging cable in a line.... I understood that they could be drawn to the heat or the frequencies of of the charging cable or something but this was the first time in several years i've had it occur....

Interestingly the car had finished charging at 5:30am and this all was going on at 11:30am.

Call out thanks to EWR Term C Intl Baggage transfer guy!

My daughter (17) came off an intl flight a bit ago and took her checked back to drop off at the Newark terminal C connecting flights spot as you leave security. Problem was her bag wasn’t checked through because she was on two different United tickets.

I was meeting her there on my own flight and when i saw her come out so quickly she said “they just scanned it and took it”. And she thought it was fine. It would not have been fine.

I got the attention of security who let us go talk to the baggage guy and he tracked down where it was and made about half a dozen calls over the next hour or so to get a guy to find it and send it up to the oversized/special carousel.

I think he felt some responsibility because the attendant should not have accepted her bag without a scan to go somewhere last Newark. But about an hour later we had the bag and were on our way to our connection.

So thank you Newark baggage guy in the Term C international arrivals area!!

Boomer Lady at MSP Immigration

On this just happened. International flight lands and we are headed to immigration. US city (Minneapolis). There’s a service called global entry which expedites your return- the way the kiosks work you literally walk up to them, it takes your picture and says “proceed”. No passport no questions to answer no palm print…. It takes 2 seconds. You almost just have to slow down past the kiosk and it snaps a pic - and you get the idea.

There’s an older woman working this area reminding people once your picture is taken you can get in line. It’s so fast some people expect they have to do more. She’s very polite and upbeat walking around getting lots of steps looping past all the kiosks.

Boomer lady is standing still, staring at her kiosk. Picture is done, she’s just standing there. So staff lady tells her “your picture is done you can go get in the line for the agent”.

Boomer lady turns on her with this look that was part confused part amused and part mad- so staff lady tells her again. Boomer lady says “I know, you don’t have to tell me that”.

Staff lady says “oh well some people don’t realize it’s done and they can go”

Boomer lady: “well I’m not one of those people. You didn’t have to say that to me”.

She shuffles off and gets into line. Folks in line were muttering “wow why was she so rude to that lady?”

Really don’t get why boomers have to make everything so confrontational. You know she’s gonna go home and tell everyone about the airport employee who was rude to HER and yelled while she was just going through immigration….
