My emails to streamers/youtubers keep getting flagged as Spam / dangerous.

The public release for my game's demo is coming up, so I started reaching out to streamers and youtubers with a game key. I followed the advice from several reddit posts and ended up with the following:

Subject: [STEAM DEMO] Little Knight's Last Knight - Retro meta-horror Anomaly game

"Hello [STREAMER NAME],

I noticed your community really enjoyed games like Exit 8, The Cabin Factory and The Floor Above. Little Knight's Last Night is designed with those same players in mind and I'd love to give you a demo early access. I strongly believe it could be a great fit for your channel!

[1.6MB GIF with gameplay reel]

Little Knight's Last Night is a meta-horror anomaly game where you play as a QA tester.

  • Premise: Find bugs in a 2D retro adventure game, but the glitches aren't confined to the screen and bleed into reality.
  • Gameplay: Observe your environment, diagnose the anomalies and accurately report the status of each level to survive.
  • Game State: The public demo launches tomorrow, but I wanted to give you early access today!
  • Duration: 10 - 30 minutes.
  • Music/DMCA: 100% streamer safe (no copyrighted music or materials).

Thanks for your time,

I sent a test email for my personal account to check if everything was okay. After that, I spent the entire morning sending about 30 emais to select youtubers and streamers that played similar games to mine. The issue is that after I was done with that, I realised my test email had been flagged with a "this message might be dangerous" flag, which ruins any chance of anyone opening or seeing my email further.

I tried sending other tests, taking away the links, GIF, but they all got flagged. I just don't know anymore if my gmail account got permanently flagged or what. Has this also happened to you? Please help...

Has anyone here submitted their game to StayAtHomeDev?

Like many of you, I'm in the pursuit of wishlists for my game (Little Knight's Last Night). This youtuber does weekly Godot games showcases. I sent him an e-mail a couple of days ago with a press-kit and submitted my game through an old form that isn't accessible from his site anymore.

Has anyone else submitted their game and got it showed? How long did it take between you sending and the video airing? Did it help with getting wishlists?

100+ wishlists in the first week. How do I get into the thousands?

Little Knight's Last Night is a short horror game from the "spot the anomaly" genre. You play as a game tester from the 80s who needs to look out for anomalies and glitches in a top-down adventure game. Yes, there's a game inside my game.

It's been 5 days since I released my Steam page and getting wishlits has been tough. I've tried marketing through twitter, tiktok, yt shorts, instagram and reddit but never got too much attention. Does my game not look appealing, or have I just been marketing it wrong? A demo will be available soon, so that might help.

Most of my game's wishlists come from Japan. How do I market my game to that audience?

I'm working on a spot the anomaly type game in the same vein as Exit 8, The Floor Above and The Cabin Factory. The gimmick of my game is that you are a game tester, so your job is to test different levels of a top-down adventure game and look out for anomalies / glitches.

Out of the 90 wishlists my game got so far (it's the third day after releasing the page), 29 come from Japan, even though my page didn't have a japanese version, and neither did my trailer. I'm guessing it's because that type of game is very popular there due to Exit 8 being a japanese game.

How do I reach out and captalize on that audience? What sort of community / social media works best? If anyone has experience with that, please let me know.

This is my game's Steam page if you are interested:

I took "Exit 8" anomaly mechanics and put them in a 2D top-down game.

Finalizing the visuals for my anomaly horror game. Made all assets except for the TV and table. Feedback?

Which Trails games should I buy for now?

Last year I beat the original Trails in the Sky, which although wouldn't crack by top 10 JRPGs, I liked enough to want to get the rest of the trilogy. I went straight to SC, but dropped it halfway chapter 2.

This month, however, I picked up where I left off. Absolutely loved the game and now I'm going through Sky 3rd. Since the Summer sale just started an the entire series is discounted, I wanted to know how many games I should get now.

I can borrow Zero and Azure from a friend on Switch, but what about the Cold Steel games? Should I get all 4, or will I get tired of them if I play one after the other? Can I just get I and II for now, or will it end in a crazy cliffhanger which will leave be dying to know what happens next?

I’m turning my 2D Zelda-like into a 3D meta-horror anomaly game. How does the start screen look?

u/SpiderPS4 — 2 months ago

Playtest my Game-Tester Anomaly Horror Game!

You are a playtester (meta, huh?) who needs to play every cartridge of a top down Zelda like and look for and report anything out of the ordinary. That could be either glitches (your usual software bugs) or anomalies (supernatural events that go beyond the 2D game world). More instructions can be found in the game page below:

https://lucas-51.itch.io/play-test

Feedback is needed and welcomed!
