One of the first albums that came to mind when I decided to start collecting. Hard work and a lot of OT went into getting it here and having a turntable setup worth playing it on. Cheers! 🍻

Repair/Upgrade Advice

Had an itch that needed scratching (pun intended), so I bought an AT-VM540ML for my Rega P1, and can't decide if I want to install it myself or take it in to have a pro take care of it. Shop by me said $100 for the installation/calibration. Now I also have my dad's old Onkyo which has MASSIVE sentimental value that I'm having them look at, which they'll charge $75 diagnostic fee for (goes towards maintenance repairs if necessary). It still works, but may need new cables as the ground seems to be malfunctioning.

>

The question is, do I bite the bullet and take it in, shop around for better prices that could also result in lesser quality of care, or go cowboy on the things myself. I do have experience with electronics and mechanical devices and am not new to tinkering, but the risk of messing either table up weighs heavy on my mind. Figure if I'm going to tinker, I should get thrift store stuff to mess with.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any guidance 🍻

Onkyo CP-1020F Progress 🕺

Update on the old Onkyo I found in my mom's basement. Gave it a quick cleaning, threw on a new AT-VM95E cartridge, and borrowed a mat to pretty it up a little more. Going to deal with alignment and a final deep clean tomorrow. I'm pretty happy so far 🍻

Today's Mail 🕺

I felt like a kid again looking out the window for the mail person today. This 5 LP box set is an incredible tribute to the music of the late Neal Casal. Check out some of the contributing artists on the track list! Definitely going to be a treasured addition to the collection 🍻

Mom's Basement Find

Just recently dove head first into the world of turntables/vinyl, so I was thrilled to find this today over at my mom's. My everyday is a Rega P1. Getting the Onkyo in working condition and upgrading the Rega is going to be a lot of fun. Although I'll be doing my own research, any pro tips for cartridge replacements for the Onkyo would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

"The Great Parrot-Ox and The Gold Egg of Empathy" by The Claypool Lennon Delirium

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (6 out of 5 stars) Reeeally loving everything these two have done together. Les is a wizard, that is without question, and I'm really excited to hear more of what Sean Ono Lennon has to offer. Looking forward to the live experience 🍻

JBS' ONLY Mistake

Seems like everyone is beating around the bush, so I guess I'll have to nut up and say it: the Chicago stop should've been two nights at Salt Shed again. That's all.

For good measure...

Just ordered this off of Discogs. Billy's version of All The Luck In The World is a favorite of mine, and the insane list of bands/musicians they put together for this tribute album made it more than worth the $$. If you haven't checked out Neal Casal, the original version of the song from his Rain, Wind and Speed album is a great place to start!

Hey all, listening to this gem at the moment and it's got me interested to hear some recommendations for other live bluegrass albums I should add to the library. Thanks in advance! 🍻
