am in my thirties and grew up on Brosnan Bond and loved it, associate him as "my" Bond. However I know I need to watch them all. I tried Dr. No probably ten years ago and was held up by the campy scenes. Well I have decided I need to try again. So I figure if people do not mind I'll post a little blurb each time I complete one. So...

So based on the general consensus I see from posts on here I was really excited to get to this one as it seems loved. So I straight up gated this movie. I don't like this guy as Bond, the Bond girl sucked, he marries her which I mean I guess is fine but like why? Blofeld seemed like a wuss and didn't have the more commanding feel I got from the previous movies. This felt like a No Time to Die kind of ending which is to say sucked. The setting was bland, movie was long and had pacing problems, the stakes of the chemical warfare felt really to be a nothing burger to the powers that be. This Bond to be frank seemed like kind of a doucher. I will say the bobsled sequence was cool. Locking Bond in the lift mechanical room makes no sense at all. This one just didn't land at all for me. I am hoping what's next is better and it looks like Connery is back in this one, looked into this Bond actors lineage and it basically looks like he got the roll because he was at the right place at the right time which may have been a hasty cast. I did like the mountain top base that felt very N64 game map to me haha.

I think I'll start ranking the movies as I go too just for posterity sake, so as of now I think it goes like this for me:

GoldenEye>Skyfall>You Only Live Twice>Tomorrow Never Dies>Goldfinger>Thunderball>Casino Royale>World is not Enough>From Russia with Love>Die Another Day>Dr No.>OHMSS

Note* I have seen all Bond movies post GoldenEye alrea to be very blunt there's a lot of straight garbage in the newer movies, I am watching them all in order so eventually I'll get to the newer ones again and they will show up in the rankings more prominently(not likely any higher though

is it possible do this, I see people with cool themes and stuff but idk if they apply to tv and phone apps, really want to have a more unified branding I present to my users, it's not a business thing but I want to kind of rebrand it just to.obscure what it is a bit.

Watched You Only Live Twice today, I really loved this one, it felt like the more modern bonds with locked in flow, sensible plot, strong villain who we finally get to meet as Blofeld which helps strengthen the newer ones with the Christoph Waltz Blofeld. Tropes from other spoof movies of Bond came through strong here and the setting was awesome, I mean a lair in a volcano that's freaking perfect. I think this one is probably the best in the early flow and Sean Connery is just awesome as Bond. The space topic on this one was so cool too knowing it's prior to historical events like the moon landing makes the subject really cool especially if you put yourself in the shoes of someone watching this back in that time period. I want to take me sons fan in his room and be able to control the fan and hopefully each fan speed, and the light kit via zigbee/zwave. I currently have a dimmer kasa switch installed that we use to control the light and the fan is adjacently controlled and it's all kind of a hot mess. I was thinking I could wire that switch to be always on, then put zigbee bulbs in the light kit, then hopefully do something to the motor maybe throw some sort of inline smart switch probably like a Shelly if that exists, and then have some fake wall switches that all they do is activate various functions of those newly added smarts. I would also be able to do automations in HA which would be really great. Thank you all for any thoughts or opinions I am very eager to see what the community can think up in this scenario, the obvious one is run either a 14/3 wire to replace what's there and then get a fancy switch that can break apart those two feeds, or run a new wire for a new switch but that's all pretty involved and I am not super open to having to do that as I am gonna end up making this fan and light smart after that anyway. thank you!

I have noticed the home Depot app and the wifiman apps don't work well on my fold front screen, for wifiman if I open it in popup view it's usable but home depot the filters just don't work and sometimes navigatation to the next page doesn't work,does anyone else in the US have these issues?

Got my Thunderball on today and I had a blast. Coming off Goldfinger which in the series I thought was the best yet this movie carried the torch. I would say it's just slightly below Goldfinger for me as the underwater sequences are a little rough and the bad guy is mediocre but it's got a great flow and a shit load of gadgets. They start the movie off rolling with gadgets and it's great! Spectre at it again with number one, number 2 and all the accoutrements, I actually just watched the first Austin Powers again the other day with my son and I got to enjoy it on a new level thanks to the Odd Job clone Random Task, the woman that's secretly a man with a pretty rough switch same as in Thunderball and Goldfinger. I'm on You Only Live Twice now and hope to see the flow and Bond style continue!

ok so far in my testing light control is already working well, but i want to turn on my tv which is not working, I was able to do it via this media_player.master_bedroom_shield with a power option, i have it exposed to the local assistant voice and i have an alias of "Master TV" set but "hey jarvis turn on master tv" or "hey jarvis turn on master bedroom shield" neither worked. Anyone have a rock solid solution for this, I know HA voice is weak but I had a google mini die and im freaking sick of their setup flow and random deprecations, I will be integrating some kind of fallback llm situation but havent gotten to that yet.

I want to get a gas fitting right by my gas meter for a portable generator, looking to get a shutoff added as well on the main feed. Anyone have a good plumber that has fair pricing and does a good job, I am actually comfortable doing a lot of plumbing work but I do not like messing with gas as a small mistake can become a serious or even lethal issue. Howdy! I had a wifi yale access 2 and switched to a zwave yale access 2, so far its been pretty great and my automation seems to have been working well but today I left my house after my wife got home and when I came back home the lock showed it was unlocked but it was not so I just wanted to post my automation and make sure that I am using the best method to track my wife and I arriving home, we use zones and track the zone changes but I wanted to make sure this is also the best way to track our presence via our phones, I have a unifi network with strong wifi down my driveway so I think I could track that way but otherwise is there a better method I should be using. Thanks again for any assistance!

I am trying to factory reset and re-pair this thing with my Google home. I have factory reset it now and it's doing the whole download the Google home app thing, but when I hit add device it doesn't find it, when I manually search for the minis from nest and Google still doesn't find it. I have my vpn off, I have confirmed Google home app has all the permissions just at my wits end with this thing. any advice is massively appreciated. I have Bluetooth and all that on too. Oh and I can see it's local wifi ssid broadcast but connecting to that and telling my phone to connect even without Internet is not making it show up either.

I am about to close on my house, I had bought some OM3 LC years back in preparation to run it alongside CAT6A in order to prep my wallplates to support 10 gig copper and 10 gig plus fiber, well I have come to find out that OM5 is what I should use as it supports much higher bandwidths, but then I bumped into someone who really strongly was pushing using single mode instead. Was curious what everyones thoughts are, running this cabling is going to really be a pain so I am hoping to be able to do 400gbps over the long term with the same cabling and connectors. before i raise a github issue I have my project directory defined in arcane at /mnt/disk/dockerstatic. I have many sub folders in there that act as container and bind mount space, for example /mnt/disk/dockerstatic/adguard. if I have a compose.yaml file in that adguard folder the arcane docs state that a scam should pick that up and let me ingest into arcane for management. this is straight up not working, even if I drop a compose.yaml in the root of /dockerstatic it doesn't get picked up. I can manually make projects in the UI but not take over what's already there I'm on 2.1 anyone else seen this?

I know I am the thousandth person to ask this but straight up you guys are the best source for information on what works and what doesnt. I need to replace my nest protect smoke/co sensors, they have 3-5 years left on them but I really cannot stand the platform and want something local only. Is there anything out there?

I am in the US, I have one wired dectector all the others are battery. I am not opposed to getting the others wired in if that's a better option. I really really want to stay away from WiFi protocols for this.

anyone know what kind of stepper this is I want to order just the stepper and try to get something better quality. I am currently building a new tool head but in the mean time I'd like to try this.

Nabu ZWA-2 800 for $80 US

I am leaning toward the Nabu option but I am not sure if it really is logical, here is my house size and layout, my server rack is where the red dot is. Of note though, I am considering moving my Home Assistant to a small pc in the center of my house as theres a closet there and right now I have it on a VM on my Unraid server so range will be changed based on that. Thanks for any input I am extremely tech indecisive as I dont have a lot of money so when I spend it I have to be sure its a smart move. Getting away from all my flaky wifi devices does seem to be a smart move though.

I really want to get rid of my Google mini speakers and roll out ha voice, I bought one to test and it's really awful so far. Things I need it to do, control devices in HA, be able to play things like rain sounds white noise, be able to answer basic queries like "How old is George Clooney" is it unreasonable to think this should be achievable? I'd really love to see it become useful
