Please let it stop

How do I stop getting randomly choked up thinking about you and 'us'? Especially those magical first days and weeks. The late night conversations. Sharing EVERYTHING. Baring our (or was it just me?) souls.

All that meant nothing to you then? I guess i wasn't the first and won't be the last for you. To have a connection like that..

But you were mine.

I'm grieving "us" SO bad! How do i stop checking T every two min? When i know there's not gonna be anything from you. Likely ever.

And that's probably for the best. I'm glad i was the one calling it. Dragging around this dead horse of a connection (not even a relationship as you finally said) for the sole purpose of your "needs" being met whenever YOU want.

All that big talk about all those life stuff, and here we are!

Just let me go. Leave my head, my heart. Just fucking leave already

[l]Where do I even go?

My husband of nearly 2 decades, who I'd married at his worst and stuck by through things no other person in his life ever did, just confirmed that my value in his eyes has always been based on how much money i made.

This coming from the man who has always made half or one-third of what I made. From the man i wasted my prime years on, because of his addiction. From the man i literally built up from ashes when his own family left him for dead. From the man who offered me nothing a husband just naturally offers his wife in terms of marital intimacy. From the man i married for absolutely nothing but his kindness(?) and respectfulness(?).

Oh wow!

How can I be SO blind for nearly 20 years?!!

There probably aren't enough hugs in the world that will make any of this better. But i simply didn't know where else to turn.

If you find a little bit of kindness for a fellow human that simply has lost everything that meant anything to them, please stay by my side for just a bit, if you can.

Thank you 🙏🏻

He told our kid "Not going to office is bad. Momma should go ro office."

I'm a SAHM but I used to work and ALWAYS made double or triple of what he made. I was also the one actually going to work and the one actually serious about a career while he was a fudging drughead and was barely there at work.

Things changed. Or i thought so. I waited 11 fudging years before i felt sure enough to have a kid with this A-hole. All because I wanted to make sure I'm not bringing a child into this world with a drug addict.

When i finally had my kid, waaay too late in life, I chose to be with my kid. My priority was to spend as much time as possible with my kid. I always thought i could make money again, I won't get these moments back again. Just a personal preference . Nothing for ot against anyone.

The A-hole simply doesn't get that i guess.

I HATE him SO much!

Un-Fudging-Believable

Edit: guys i kid you not, a THIRD person did the same thing today and I just.. can't even. I was coming back home and in the elevator these A-holes (I'm sorry but there's no other way to describe those 3 mofos) walk in, barely letting me get in first although I've been the first in line. Then the A-hole is blaring his phone. I don't know what got into me, probably the 17 hours of no meal and 12+ hours of no food and 2+ hours at the lifelabs (AFTER 1 hour at the doctor's office although i had an appointment) just totally messes with my head. But i told hil the same thing, that it's rude to use your phone on a loudspeaker in a public space. He looks at me like 'who the eff are you?' and says "yeah yeah" Then adds, "it's our mother". Like dude, seriously? It can be whoever, how's that even relevant? So i said, that's fine, we can always put our phones to our ears whwn on a call, or use earplugs. By then the three A-holes are glaring down at me. They're all way bigger than me (I'm a woman) and it's a tiny elevator. I was starting to get uncomfortable by then. Thankfully my floor cane and i got off. And ofcourse i hear them calling me a "B*tch. What a day guys!

I know these posts have been made before, but truly, the amount of people thinking it's totally fine to use their phones on speaker mode in public is simply Astounding!

It's like I've been transported to a very different part of the world. This isn't the Toronto i know!

Waiting at a lifelabs at 1:45pm for about an hour and counting, because ofcourse! First it was a 5/6 year old watching God knows what on a smartphone. WHY?! THREE adults are accompanying her, sitting right next to her (one of them I personally gave up my precious seat for). Noone's saying a word.

She gets called in after maybe 10/15 minutes, thank Goodness!

Now comes this lady, sits right next to me and first calls someone and talks with the speaker on. The man on the other side is clearly angry and they literally yell at each other for 10min straight. Or atleast it felt like 10min.

Then she proceeds to watch videos on her phone, with the speaker on again.

My headache's through the roof at this point because i haven't eaten anything since 2am. Actually since 9:30pm last night, when i had dinner. 2am was just a couple croissants.

Plus the fudging urine pressure...

So i just... Can't take it anymore. And i very calmly ask her to please use earplugs, or stop using the speaker please. As this is a public space, a VERY crammed space with mostly sick people around, and this is not polite at all.

She rolls her eyes and mutters something like 'okay'. Her body language tells me this wasn't entirely unexpected to her. Meaning, this has happened before. But that didn't change her behavior.

The moment I'm having that thought, gurss what happens?

She starts using the phone again, WITH the speaker on.

I mean, seriously??

I just had to move away from her.

Just a tiny example of all the awful-ness this city has been subjected to. I just really wish we could get this nice clean polite city back once again 😔

[l]Today's been so heavy! Could use some kindness

Started last night actually. Father of my child (we're still "together" under the same roof) said something harsh and triggering. Only got worse as the day has progressed as my innocent child was exposed to my disproportionate anger. (I ALWAYS repair the damage with sincere apologies and explanation, if needed, without any blame towards her).

My marriage really isn't working but i can't get out until atleast many years from now. Please don't waste your energy on suggesting that, because it simply isn't an option at the moment. Kid's too young. Zero money to my name. No family to rely on. Kid's too attached to dad. I'd rather die than put her through that kind of trauma at this young age. Or at ANY age.

Please just be a friend who can just sit next to me in silence and hold a bit of space for me.

It's all too heavy right now..

Thanks

Why do i not have the money and/or resources to walk away from this asshole RIGHT NOW??!!

Why oh WHYYYY is money SO fucking necessary for every fucking thing in life?!?! Especially when you have a young kid.

I'm suffocating. I've been dying a slow death for a while now. When does this all end in a way that leads to a happy and peaceful life for me and my wonderful child who doesn't deserve to grow up in a home filled with unspoken tension and resentment??!!

Chill hangout place near Bloor station?

Might get a couple hours to myself tomorrow afternoon. Where can i spend that precious Precious time? Near Bloor subway station please. I don't mind taking the TTC for a quick 5min ride if the place is just super chill.

I love cozy cafes and people watching. I might be needing a late lunch, so good food and non-alcoholic drinks would make it the perfect spot. Not looking for anything too expensive and/or overrated.

Thanks!

How do you confront a budding alcoholic with a history of addiction

Well looks like my ex-addict (or so i thought) spouse has decided to become a potential alcoholic. He took our child out in his car after having had an alcoholic drink (please don't get into the level of alcohol. ANY level is an absolute NO for many reasons). And now is hiding the bottle.

I found out after they left and was planning on confronting him. Meanwhile the bottle is now hidden. I hope to God he threw it away. Because if he took ot to the bedroom where our child co-sleeps with us, i moght just murder this man tonight.

Please share your best advice for the conversation I'm going to have with him. This is an expert gaslighter and avoidant we're talking about.

What does this mean for Parental and spousal rights of an individual?

45M drank half a bottle of flavored Korean Soju and drove his minor child (below 10 year old) about 6-8min away. Mom (SAHM) found out after the fact.

What are her options now? She wants to protect her child and make sure this man learns his lesson.

Man has history of substance addiction (not alcohol) but she was made to believe it's all behind them.

Please help! I have noone else to turn to.

Edit: i tried finding the size of the bottle but couldn't see it anywhere. Also couldn't attach an image as it wasn't allowed. Going to try an imgur link here: https://imgur.com/a/1w2SDdJ

They're a married couple living together but have a strained relationship more recently. And to the people trying to argue how this wasn't impaired driving, please don't. You clearly are a very different kind of parent (or not even parents) and we'll clearly never agree on children's safety requirements.

Mom has no idea how much he drank and when. She smelled something on him just when they headed out, but the possibility of him having consumed alcohol was not in her mind at all, so she didn't think of stopping them right then. But then she found a half drunk bottle in his work bag. With his history of addiction, there really is no telling what exactly happened.

To those often looking for the biggest learning from married people, here's my biggest one

If you have even the slightest doubt about the person you're unfortunately married to, DO NOT have a kid with them.

Seriously, DON'T! Under NO circumstances go ahead and put yourself in that situation where no matter how badly you need to get out, your child(ren) loving and needing both parents will stop you from freeing yourself from hell.

And before you come after me with your "there's always a way"s and "children are better off in a single but happy parent environment" (not until they're MUCH older) - save it. Doesn't apply in more than most situations.

Thanks for listening

Hey Friends! Where are you buying your (non-toxic and long lasting) cookwear from in TO?

Bonus if it's a store near North York/Scarborough, in case it's a physical store.

We have the standard electric stovetop and oven at our apartment. I like to cook bigger batches for freezing. It'll be mostly veggies and curries and lentil but the SE asian way (minimal spice though).

Please share your reco. Thanks! P.S. sorey about the typo (should be cookware, not cookwear 🤦🏻‍♀️) that can't be corrected ofcourse 🙄

Edit: currently using the Cuisinart stainless steel cookware set bought over a decade ago (miss you Home Outfitters)

2am, June 21st - Weird lights moving around in the clouds

I do have a few not-so-great-quality videos but looks like attaching them with the post is not allowed? I'll try the comments section.

Edit: couldn't post them in the comments either. I feel a bit foolish as i know how this sounds without any visual context. If anyone has any tips as to how i can share the videos, I'll greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
