Pihole on mac mini fails to do anything.
So I have an M2 mac Mini that im not using daily other than to do backups of my icloud photos which then sends to our NAS then another backup to a cloud.
I watched like 4 different youtube videos of getting pihole to install which honestly was a bit of a pain because it would say in docker it was installed, and it wouldnt actually load. Eventually it did work.
However, I also used ChatGPT to write it once as well and that didnt work because it always said the password was wrong.
When I did get pihole to work (installed in docker), I was able to log in but none of my internet activity was actually going there.
I have my mini setup with a fixed IP Address.
I have a full unifi setup. To test out the pihole and such, i put the mini on a dedicated v-lan and put my other devices I wanted to test, on that same vlan, That vlan had a DNS ip address of the mini.
Nothing went through pihole. This was a few months ago and I since delted docker and obvious the pihole install. However, I'd like to try it again sine I dont have to buy a dedicated pi (however, some people seem to believe that's easier as there might be some weird issue running it on mac and docker?)
I know nothing of terminal, so that is kind of a setback too I guess.
Whenever I do this though, I am trying to also set it up where if the mac would do an update or for some reason turn off, then the unifi gateway would just default to 1.1.1.1 so the internet would stay working and my wife wont get mad lol.
Any tips or ideas?
