Hiya guys I have offers from IOBM (BBA) and NUST (Psychology). Out of the 2 I’m more interested in psychology and don’t see myself in a corporate/finance path.

My dad thinks psychology has low success in Pakistan and only a few make it. It’s hard to convince him so I need pros of taking psych in PK to convince him.

Hiya guys I hv 2 offers rn : iobm bba n nust psychology
I am also doing an online English literature degree on the side pehle se and hv been on a gap yr jis ka baba ko Bohat dukh he Kyuke I rejected iobm last yr too. N I tried my best this yr n got in a lot of places n the best r these opts iobm is best acc to my dad n nust is best acc to me.

OK so now my father is saying I shud choose bba it has more career opts or last yr bhi i missed n wasted my yr but i do think it gave me a lot of clarity but kher that’s how parents think.

My father thinks im insisting on nust just bcz i want to move out yes I want to but also for me psych is a better option than bba bcz i dont see myself doing an office/ corporate job. I’m not great at maths , never studied accounts before n i do think it’s boring . However I am interested in some aspects of psychology: lucid dreaming, dreams n jung n memories n the subconscious, the way of thinking, consciousness, the stream, Freud in this aspect i like his works on dreams n also i love to learn abt disorders, phobias etc ( also im great at talking to ppl, listening) im more inclined towards criminal psychology which is not likely in pk but i dont mind clinical either there r a lot of psychologists in pk.

Now my dad said v few psychologists succeed that’s what he thinks only the best ones do

n i hv gotten a bad grade in psych once bcz they dint teach what i was interested in so I dropped it but I dint know that the future wud get me to this situation n also now i am a much more disciplined student w better grds n hv changed my attitude towards learning

n obviously over bba i would choose psych bcz uni is more funn n so r the courses ,,but how do u exp this to my dad he doesn’t even know me properly n thinks he does ! A grd cannot define u! But I do know how to counter saying how I was bad at socio but looked how I improved got 89% this argument but he is very ziddi !! So I hvnt proved myself in psych before but I hvnt proved myself in maths, econ either n hv never even studied accounting!!

Atleast im interested in psychology!

Also after nust I wud hv to Masters 2 yrs but after bba i can easily gets jobs that’s what my dad says how to argue this.

N he said i alr am doing a humanity subject that i like,, psych is a humanity so why not hv bba on the side ! It wud add to ur profile n personality!
But my problem is that my literature degree that is online can not give me gd opportunities for masters as much as nust n even iobm does give masters opportunities an MBA I can’t do it cuz like imagine doing smth u dont like even a bit for so long

But he thinks u can go abroad for masters if ur gpa is excellent for lit so nust does not matter

Another problem is I wud hv to work extremely hard for bba , put extra energy bcz im not gd at it while having another degree too much pressure n no time for my hobbies 🥲😭 which ik that psych wud be easier for me i wudnt hv to force myself to study!
It’s not maximising utility u see!!

So if ppl can help me out how to convince for nust psych. Or BASICALLY how to convince ur parents for anything,,, cuz im never gd at this convincing game,,
Give advice.
If there are psychologists here give advice pls tell me more abt ur job, earnings, experience, where did u graduate frm n also if ur up for a call to convince my dad .

Oki guys I got into giki mgs waiting for nust nbs n iobm ,,got into ksbl ned buisiness asw.

Now I’ve always wanted to live in the north, I picture myself being a travel / self improvement/ filmmaking wala YouTuber. I will be extremely happy that way living in the north, exploring sunsaan areas , going on hikes n making vids. I’ve always been a poetic person n swabi giki area wud be a great start for my YouTube filming career u see.

Now the prob is that I’ve gotten admission in places like ksbl idk how n why dint even try hard ,,so my father is like giki is not a great choice for mgs.
He is saying market value nhi he etc etc.

I prefer nust n giki over others cuz they will make me free and I will be near mountains ( pls pray mera nust nbs me hojaye he wud not oppose that so much)

The problem is he is focussing on the quality of program n im seeing it as my dream of freedom coming true. J btw I’m doing an online literature degree as well ( v cheap n affordable) so I hv no worries abt job mkt vagera cuz I will alr hv 2 bs degrees. He is a v practical abt the job mkt thingy.

now that’s the first prob. the second prob is the high fees ,, he thinks high fees isn’t worth it for the program but giki has the uni tag🥲. He said agr tumhare pas kuch nhi hota toh me bhejdeta ya phir financial aid mil Jae to bhejdunga.

My family can afford the fees but the pressure wud be on my dad,, bcz the fee is high there won’t be flexible spending , dekh kr zyada chlna pare ga. In this case can I get financial aid?

The fees is fine but he is like it will inc every yr n there’s no guarantee u can get scholarship later ,, the thing is moving out wud hv many expenses such as my monthly expense,, I think I can survive on 3k per month but he is like no u can’t. I can I think cuz I will survive on mess ka food , no Fuzool kharchi, will just need to buy pads or emergency k liye medicines , toothpaste, sabun maximum. Also flight vagera charges.
He obv can afford all that but he just thinks it ain’t worth the degree.

(Also another main concern is im a gurl n it’s unsafe.
Ik a part of him does not want me to be free ,, yrs ago when I considered applying to Lums he said khi me rho.)

But I think it’s worth allat . I will be able to do a career that I love, I will be able to start that , vlog, film, n us ke sath I will hv 2 degrees as backup!

If my merit position is 129 will they consider me for scholarship rn?
