Looking to buy an cheap old windows xp laptop. I am looking for something that is able to run most games from that time. I am also looking for something I can install a lightweight modern linux OS on the side for anything that I need to use internet for.
Alternatively I have also seen a way to install windows xp on an old 2009 Macbook, I could also use one of those if you have one.

So I have seen people on the windows Xp subreddit do this but I am not really finding any non super confusing guides on how to do it. I am trying to take a old 2009 El Captian Macbook (don't have yet as I am trying to make sure this isn't too much a nightmare before I buy) and install windows xp, modern linux, and the original mac OS X at the same time. From what I could find I need some sort of software called bootcamp for this, and the windows xp disc has to service pack 2 (which I think I already have somewhere, if not I will try ebay). I also learned from a comment on this post in another subreddit that I should use Exfat so all of the operating systems can access it. Other than that I have no clue how the rest of this proccess works or how installing multiple operating systems at the same time works. Has anyone else tried the same thing and can explain how they did it.

So I am seeing conflicting info on all of the different disc versions of xp. Does anyone know which versions can be installed from the disca entirely without connecting to the internet, doing a phone call (not even sure if that is a thing anymore), or installing all sorts of random files from online. I saw some versions by default had some 30 day timer while others seemed to work fine according to people's posts.
Also does anyone know of a good retro gaming laptop (with a dvd/cd drive) to install this on?
So I am having a bit of a problem distinguishing which minis I are vets vs normal marines. Originally I was going to do red stripes but after thinking about how it looked on dreadnaughts and stuff like that it doesn't feel iron warriors enough. I thought that using the 30k symbol instead of the 40k one would work and while I do intend to do that, it isn't really noticable at tabletop level. Currently paint scheme wise I am following the "defualt" IW scheme with bronze trim on everyone, and using hazard stripe placement to distinguish squads, and hazard stripes on weapons to distinguish squad leaders.
How does everyone else distinguish the vets? I am thinking maybe helmet color though I am not sure what color, but that is also how the loyalists do it lol.
So I keep my series X offline most of the time (I use my ps5 more, and have a limit amount of internet cables). It does get turned on sometimes for splitscreen games (while still offline because I didn't switch the cable). I noticed that I was able to play any Series/One game just fine but all of my 360 games wanted to be connected to the internet to work. All of my games are discs. From what I could find elsewhere, the Series/One games working just fine is expected because since they are discs, it gets the license stuff from there, but why do the 360 games, which are also discs want to be connected?
Also does anyone know if it is possible to do a 8 person LAN party with Halo reach using my 360 and Series X or do they both have to be the same console?
So I am writing up lore for my custom warband (currently unamed, if anyone has any ideas on that I am listening lol). Was curious on how plausible/implausible it sounds.
The warband is chaos undivided and like many warbands, recruits alot of their marines/cultists from other warband remenants. The warband's whole gimmick is utiziling Sorcerers warp magic to mindwipe and brainwash captured enemies into worshipping chaos and helping the cult. Their memories are also replaced with those of always being with the warband. The brainwashed victims have their armor/gear marked with a red stripe (which they are told is a blessing of khorne) to distinguish them from the rest of the warband, should the brainwashing somehow fail or become removed.
The warband's color scheme is bone armor with blue/green metalic trim, dark blue eye lenses, and black weapon casings. I haven't decided on a symbol for them yet. They also might get some of the chaos text or rune transfers that I have.
So how stupid does the whole brainwashing via warp fuckery sound?
So I have heard that the old black legion paint scheme had a silver trim, and the old iron warriors paint scheme was red, white, and blue, but I can not find anything online about either of these. Does anyone know if either of these were actually true, and/or have examples of how either scheme is painted?
So I have been trying to paint alpha legion using Akhelin green over leadbelcher primer that has been drybrushed with runefang steel. I saw people here suggesting to mix the Akhelin 1:1 with contrast medium. I am however getting lots of blotchy dark spots all over the model. How does everyone get it without the blotchy spots? I do not have an airbrush so I am doing this with a brush.
Needing some transfers for Iron Warriors and Alpha Legion. Looking for both the 30k legion symbols and roman numeral legion numbers. Also interested in the 40k transfers for both of these. Perfectly fine with cut sheets if it helps the shipping. Any chaos star/symbol/text (or god) transfers are also useful if you have any. Any salamander transfers are also useful.

According to a picture on the wiki, the index astartes grey knights had more of a black and gold paint scheme than the modern grey/silver. Does anyone have any pics of the knights painted like that? Trying to decide if I want to go with that scheme or the modern one.

So I am someone who paints the bases on minis black (I know, I am a heretic lol). The bases get black paint (reaper pure black, though I think a few got vallejo) and then gloss varnish. Then they get matte varnish (brush on). The matte varnish seems like to pool and form wierd markings on the bases, which I then have to paint over with black paint again to get to go away and not look super wierd. This is obviously super annoying and slows down painting having to go back and fix everything on the just varnished minis. Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop it from pooling and looking wierd while keeping the bases black? Using the original plastic color isn't an option since masking it would be a nightmare and some of the bases don't start black (I have a bunch of 3d printed custom sized bases for various things). I do have spray varnish, but in my experience it doesn't work super well over the gloss to produce a matte base.

So since scientists don't know what exactly "sparked" life on earth (or anywhere) to start forming from from all the raw materials (amino acids, water, energy source, ect), why hasn't anyone just tried doing random things to sterile (and sealed so no outside life gets in) vats of those materials to see if they can make any microorganisms/get something to happen. Obviously 100% more complex than that but it seems like something that someone would try, but I am not seeing anything on it.

Not super important but if you also have the salamanders, imperial fist symbols, white squad numbers (both roman numeral and numbers), black battlefield roll, or apothocary decals from the space marine infantry sheet I can also use those aswell.
