My custom hiding/sliding Virpil throttle/control panel alu profile mounts/wings.

Just wanted to show off my custom 3d printed hiding and sliding mounts for my Virpil CM3 throttle and control Panel 1 attaching to my aluminium profile rig.

The rig is a multipurpose race, flight and general work station which 'converts' in a sense depending on use case. I wanted to have the throttle and control panel mounted but not be in the way when not in use. So now they 'hide' away under the 'wings'.

The Mounts:

The custom 3D printed mounts allow for forward and back motion by sliding in the 40120 aluminium profile slots and also side to side adjustment using 2 x 4040 straight line connectors connecting to the virpil units original underside M5 mounting holes. Those connectors then slide on the 3D printed mounts whose base connects to the 40120 alu profile using 3030 straight line connectors (30 or 40 series will work. I only had 30 series available).

The mounts have 2x M6 holes at the rear to use M6 thumbscrews (not shown in pics) to push into the 4040 straight line connectors to lock the throttle and control panel in their horizontal position although they are already tight enough they don't really need them.

The Wings:

The 40120 sections are 280mm long and have their centre hole at each end tapped. They are held in and rotate on an M8 bolt and t-nut which slides in the smaller 100mm 4040 piece of profile running parallel at each end. The 3D printed handles slot into the adjacent 4080 profile 8mm slots and hold the 40120 profile in position. You pull the handle out, rotate, then push back in to lock the position.

Wind sim. 2 fans, 1 duct. Good/bad idea?

I have a DIY wind simulator on the rig using 2 x Noctua 3000rpm 12v 120mm fans through a 76mm/3" duct exiting through a 3d printed air straightener in the duct. I love it especially on hot summer races on the straights. I have 2 more Noctua 3000rpm fans I'm looking to add in and trying to find the best way to integrate them.

I'm looking at a duct which allows 2 x 120mm fans to 76mm/3" inch duct (I can't find a free one. Only one I can find is about €5 on Cults).

Has anyone used one of these. I presume I won't get twice the power using this duct but I have no experience in HVAC to know how good or bad it will be.

Repairing Dayton BST-1 & preventing breakage?

I have 4 Dayton Audio BST-1 50W transducers. One on each corner of the rig. The rear right one was making odd noises, again. The last time one of the spring/diaphragm arms had broken & I used B7000 glue to hold it.

Sure enough the other 2 spring arms had broken this time. I also noticed the white silicone grease holding the core had hardened. On the other 3 BST-1's its thick but pliable. Does anyone know if this silicone grease needs to be replaced and could I use LM2 instead of the silicone. Silicone is expensive here in Ireland.

I also noticed the spring on the broken BST was different to the other ones. The springs on the 3 working ones have arms which are reinforced as seen in the pic below (reinforced one on the right). On my brokan BST the spring broke where the arms meet the outer ring. On another post the springs broke exactly where that reinforcement stopped. Right in the middle of the arm.

https://www.reddit.com/r/simracing/comments/1mtvqk1/daytonaudio_bst1_broken_bass_shaker/

Also has anyone preemptively used something like B7000 glue on the springs to stop them breaking. Cheers.

AMD GPU. Super smooth & fps boost with Adrenalin tweaks + LMU 1.4

Hopefully useful for AMD gpu owners. Might help others on Nvidia but YMMV.

LMU has never been very smooth for me on my 1400p triples. Playable but not very smooth on my custom loop 5800x3D, 6900XT 16gb, ddr4 32gb build. I run a Tobii Eye Tracker 5 head tracker, Wind simulator, SimHub broadcasting dashes to multiple monitors, 9 transducers & 3x Simagic Neo GT pedal haptics so there is a lot going on for the system to deal with.

Recently watched the Adrenalin settings video from Hardware Unboxed (post is blocked if I link to the vid but its from 8 days ago).

TLDR = Disable everything in Adrenalin. No Super Resolution, no Fluid Motion Frame, no Anti-lag, no Boost, no Chill, no Enhanced Sync. For me on my RDNA 2 gpu no Image Sharpening (which is V1 not V2 for RDNA 3/4). Set power to 'Default'. FSR might be good for you on RDNA 3/4 GPU's but my 6900xt is RDNA 2 so no idea.

LMU V1.3 became a bit smoother. Less stutter. On 1.3 I would get about 60fps with dips to low 50's on grid at Spa at night. 70-75fps mid race.

Now on LMU V1.4 I've just raced an online Bronze Daily at Spa at night and it was crazy smooth with a big fps jump. Now 85fps at grid. I was seeing 110fps with jumps to 135fps mid race but no stutters. 1%/0.1% lows must have been much better. It also looked so much more detailed and beautiful.

Pics of my settings attached (apologies for the screen glare). Note the new FSR setting is enabled with FXAA on.

NUC11 Bios update. Flash update invalid

I have a NUC11 TNKi5 on Zorin Linux. The NUC is on 0058 bios and I'm trying to update to the latest 0080. Per the Asus website I have to update any pre-0071 bios to 0071 before I can update to 0080.

I have downloaded both 0062 and 0071 from the Asus website https://www.asus.com/uk/supportonly/nuc11tnki5/helpdesk_bios/

I have a USB stick in FAT32 I have used only this morning to update an Asus X570 Strix mobo's bios so I know it works.

The USB stick has been reformatted and only the NUC bios files are on it. In root directory. When 0062 + 0071 are downloaded they come in a .bin format. Using either file as .bin the NUC F7 Bios menu will not recognise them.

Renamed to .CAP the NUC updater responds with 'Flash update failed. Flash image invalid or not found. System will reset in 5 seconds.

The system then (thankfully) reboots to the OS. Any ideas? Cheers.

No FSR option in Adrenalin?

I'm sure I'm being braindead somehow but I don't seem to have an option for FSR in Adrenalin. Its not in Global nor in any individual game settings panel. I'm on a 6900XT Windows 11 latest Adrenalin 26.6.4.

Am I just being stupid? Cheers.

Anyone making white concentrate in EU? Diluting EK Cryofuel Cloud White?

Does anyone still manufacture white concentrate in Europe. I used mayhems Pastel Extreme White concentrate for almost a decade with no discolouration on my blocks and no fallout (Blitz used on rads and blocks). I ended up diluting it to get a foggy look for my cpu monoblock and GPU argb strips.

I'm still clinging on to the drained White Pastel from one of my builds as I know I can never get it again. I have approx 20ml fresh concentrate left in the Mayhems bottle. Its too little to use on a large build so I'll probably use in a SFF build.

My builds all have dark tempered glass hence the need for white coolant. One has an EK monoblock and a Heatkiller Tube 200 res which has rgb light strips that look blinding/awful if they aren't hitting a semi-solid coolant. I have multiple builds to refill. Just one of them alone needs 2L coolant. I have my own Vevor water distiller (saves a fortune as 5L of distilled water here in Ireland costs €20). Premixes defeat the point of having the distiller.

  • Mayhems no longer do any white.
  • EK only do premix at €20 per litre.
  • Primochill concentrate costs a fortune shipped from the USA and EU sellers like HighFlow are €35 per bottle plus shipping.

As a concentrate alternative can EK Cloud White be diluted with distilled to make it into a form of Mystic White. Cheers.

Buying a used Super 50ppd

I'm on a Pico 4 with a 5800X3d and a 6900xt. I'm considering upgrading to a 9700xt and upgrading the Pico 4. I spotted a used Super 50ppd for about 1,100 usd and I'm getting the itch. It will be for PCVR race and flight sims.

I would love a Dream Air but at 2k its too much for me to justify. So I'm wondering is buying a used Pimax Super asking for trouble and would you consider a Super 50 at this price good value.

Also can I possibly run it on a 6900xt. I spotted Fast Jet Performance did a review of the DA and he has a 3080Ti. He wasn't overjoyed with the performance he was getting on that GPU but he said it was doable.

Waterblock for Gigabyte 9070xt OC?

I'm looking at buying a Gigabyte 9070xt but I need to find a waterblock for it.

Its the GV-R9070XTGAMING OC-16GD. Searching online I can only find the Alphacool and Bykski blocks both of which don't look that great imho. Coming from a 6900XT with a Watercool block I'm looking to keep the same 'pcb covered' look.

Does anyone know if one of the Barrow blocks will work or if anyone else makes one. Cheers.

Re-subbing after 12 years absence?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm looking to resub to iRacing. The last time I was subbed was for a 3 month period ending late June 2014 via the iRacing website. I was just dabbling and didn't buy any extra content.

The Steam sale has a new 12 month sub at €24.89. My Steam account uses the same email address as my previous iRacing sub from 2014.

The Steam notice states 'If you have previously purchased an iRacing account directly through iRacing.com, you are not able to RENEW your subscription through Steam. You are able to purchase a new subscription through Steam if you prefer.'

Am I ok to resub via Steam?

Replacement K1C HotEnd arrived dead. Alternatives?

Its been one of those 'everything goes wrong weeks' with my K1C. After my unicorn nozzle centre dropped out during extrusion I removed it and it bent also breaking the ceramic thermistor in the process.

I ordered another non-Creality generic hotend from Amazon. It just arrived with the ceramic thermistor ring broken. :(

I need a replacement that

  1. Uses unicorn nozzles (as I now have a collection)

  2. Won't take a month to get here to Ireland from China (TriangleLab shipping estimate is 30 days)

  3. Has a less fragile thermistor construction than the original design.

I spotted this thing on Amazon UK. It looks like a TriangleLab knock off. Has anyone used one.

Nozzle tip fell out. Replacement suggestions?

I was having extrusion and layer adhesion issues the last few days on my K1C. Changed filament, heated to 300c to clear potential blockages, removed and cleaned extruder etc.

Just swapped filament again and extruded to test. It extruded the nozzle tip from my unicorn nozzle (3rd party).

How long should a nozzle last roughly (I know its a how long is a piece of string question due to usage variables etc) and are there better options from certain companies with better materials used. I had purchased a Microswiss Flowtech hot end from Amazon before but it arrived DOA and was returned.

Any performance benefit using Omni Receiver with RX Falchion?

Is there any benefit of using the Omni Receiver to connect the RX Falchion keyboard to a PC instead of Bluetooth. My Bluetooth connection is stable.

I bought a used RX Falchion blue switch & love love love this thing. But it came without the Omni Receiver dongle. I'm looking for a gaming mouse in white to match the keyboard.

Is the ROG Keris Wireless Aimpoint still good in 2026. It has an Omni Receiver I can use to connect both RX Falchion & mouse. Or should I look elsewhere to another brand for a mouse. Cheers.

So SimPro will allow Simagic rims to display more than 8 colours. But only if you buy a Zeus.

A few days ago I posted asking why SimPro only allows Simagic rims to have 8 colours to choose from the millions they are capable of displaying unless SimHub is used (and for older rims they are incompatible with SimHub). Unfortunately Reddit doesn't allow me to edit a post with new pics. No answer from Simagic ofc. This is the old thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/Simagic/comments/1u4b75w/simpro_very_limited_colour_options_why_no_colour/

Today Boosted Media uploaded their review of the new Zeus wheels and lo and behold he showed the new Zeus Formula in SimPro V3.1.0.12558 with 32 led colour options (latest version on Simagics website today is 15th June 2026 is V3.1.0.12614).

No doubt Simagic won't answer me again just as they have always refused to respond to me here even on QA issues with brand new €740 FX Pro's I had bought but I'll ask anyway.

Is this a SimPro version only Boost Media had access to? If not why are our Simagic rims from the Alpha & Neo lines being deliberately restricted in what colours they can display in SimPro. Will this be opened up to those who have spent good money (almost €2k in my case just on rims) on your products? Cheers.

SimPro - Very limited colour options. Why no colour wheel?

Just wondering why SimPro Manager is so limited in its colour options for the leds on Simagic wheels. You get 8 colours and thats it. Or am I missing something where there are more options?

On the Neo series at least some of the colours don't even reflect the colour of the led produced in the real world on the rim. eg purple on screen is pink on the button.

Please don't say you need SimHub and Maglink. The capability for the leds to produce any one of millions of colours via a colour wheel/hex is already present in the led without needing SimHub, Maglink and dangling heavy curly USB cables. To even create the 8 colour options in SimPro Simagic had to enter a hex value.

On any app for led fans you'll almost always find a colour wheel to pick what colours you want. Often with hex codes. I have NZXT, Thermaltake, Corsair, LianLi, Coolermaster & even the cheapest Chinese rgb fans connecting to €7 rgb led/fan hubs with OpenRGB have the option. But on Simagic rims costing €700 its a nope.

So Simagic can we get a colour wheel on SimPro Manager please?

Linear rail strength for keyboard tray?

I hope this is an appropriate place to ask this but I have a sim rig and I'm trying to design a keyboard/mouse tray which will slide out from underneath the wheelbase and split into 2 pieces. 1 for keyboard, 1 for mouse. They will be extending towards me from a 500mm horizontal piece of 4040 aluminium extrusion on the rig.

I was hoping to use linear rails. 2 rails for each keyboard/mouse section sliding out approx 400mm. Do you reckon SFC16 or SFC20 rails would be strong enough without bending. I have tried the design using 4040 profile and while solid it simply wasn't smooth enough in operation Thanks.

Physically reverse grip direction on WarBRD & CM3 Bases?

I'm looking to physically reverse the direction of the grips on my WarBRD and CM3 bases so I can reverse the bases direct so the USB and Aux ports face backwards.

I know on the CM3 throttle and Control Panels the baseplates can be reversed which I've done and its been great for cable routing on my rig but the WarBRD and CM3 bases casings are keyed so that won't work. Can I just flip the grip connectors to achieve the same thing. Cheers.

HOSAS or Collective to complete my rig. WTB

Looking to complete my rig. Its a racing/flight hybrid custom alu profile setup. Racing up front and slide back for flight. I already have a HOTAS setup with WarBRD (OG) on right with an Alpha grip & Mongoost CM3 throttle on left. Also a Mongoost CM3 base centre stick with TM Warthog A-10 grip and a Slaw Device BF-109 rudder below.

Looking to 'fill in' the last gap on the left (a 4080 rail) with either a second WarBRD base, Z-extension and grip for something like Star Citizen or a heli collective (thinking Virpil Rotor TCS Plus) obviously for heli's.

So I'm wondering 2 things.

1: Apart from Star Citizen are there any other titles or disciplines that benefit from HOSAS over HOTAS.

2: Is anyone selling their WarBRD or collective kit. I'm in Ireland so EU sellers might be best but anywhere else will work so long as customs isn't too much of a killer. Cheers.

PS: The CM3 throttle in the pic will be on an X & Y exis sliding mount so it doesn't cross the 4080 profile for other sticks/collective.
