I just wanna say this, but ill never get why people prefer treasure planet over this one and it always breaks my heart when i see it
Like Atlantis has the better plot, villains, characters, animation, score, structure, humor, action, designs, and dialogue and yet i dont see a lot of people talking about how perfect Atlantis was and its so disappointing. I dont even get the hype for the movie thsts just an old novel in space with daddy issues and the Martin short robot. I will never think its as good as the adventure epic directed by Gary trousdale and Kirk wise that actually has something to say about colonism and capitalism. But no i listen to it having pacing issues and it being a white savior story while thst pirate movie gets all the suck up. Well im sick of it! The original movie thst was actually directed by more competent directors. Do people not have sense of stakes or grit? Are they just boring?
I think this user is cooking. What couldve been if not for Natashas untimely demise in the mcu.
It also helps that Samara and Scarlett are my favorite actresses and Emma and Nat are some of my favorite comic characters.
Mcu yelena is not better than the comic version and im tired of the fact that everyone keeps pushing it around that she is
Apparently being adorkable somehow makes you a better character. It already got overblown with saying she was better than Nat, but I mean some of these people dont read comics really and as much as I hate people putting down mcu Natasha, theres at least a valid comparison here. Whereas comic yelena i think is a much different character. Shes a coldhearted assassin and when the mcu made her into a quirky relatable character, everyone suddenly said she was better. I mean have these people even read the comics. Even when mcu inspired like in the thompson run id argue comic yelena is always better cause I think thompson gets how different she is from Nat. She was adapted to be Nats antithesis and they could have instead made her the main villain in black widow and then go from there. Honestly I think that would've been a much better arc.
This isnt something easy to course correct like say mcu hulk, who got his mojo back last weekend. Yelenas a very different situation since shes been grown into a quriky character and i just get so frustrated when I see people glazing her its always "oh florence pugh is the best shes so relatable" "yelena is so much better than nat ever will be and she is the superior black widow, she has an arc" if comic yelena was a bigger character, I swear people would not be okay with this bastardization. I once got called out for saying Nat and yelena should've never been sisters. Honestly theyre better off as frenemies.
Am I the only one who liked caped crusader catwoman
I thought it was a fun take on the character and was hoping shed return, and I do wish they'd give her a redemption arc too. Was she really that unlikable? Because from what i remember i loved her.
Lets talk about the riddler in Caped Crusader
A lot of things happened in the comic book movie and tv world today. Samara Weaving is Emma Frost, which im very happy about. BND released, more news about Blade, and ahhh Caped Crusader season 2 released. While its easily the most swept under the rug thing online today, its actually not a bad and a bit better than the last season as it does do better at capturing the noir feel. And not to mention some very cool villain revisions like a Mad Hatter who is basically Batmans JJJ, Mr Zero, who's pretty much the house of wax version of Mr freeze. Joker is pretty excellent too. The terrible trio is okay and so is Roxy rocket and then you have Edward Enigma aka the riddler who is just...... terrible.
To note. Im a big fan of batmans rogues gallery its my favorite in all of comics and in general. So when I saw the trailer for season 2 I was excited for what they were gonna do with riddler and that one character he was dating, more on her later. Riddler appears in a total of 3 episodes. And youre thinking oh how is he gonna outsmart or fool the batman? Is he gonna challenge him? Like ik its a different take, but eddys supposed to be smart. The only time we get a riddle is in this one scene and its really just played as a joke. This eddy while threatening unlikable, is kinda stupid and does nothing clever. The best part of him doesnt even have to deal with him. Rather his partner in crime/love interest, Rose who outshines Edward in both brains and character development.
After Edward kills her father Rose changes from a kind hearted girl to a bad girl. She wants revenge, so she takes her mothers dress and becomes a new supervillain. She does and succeeds at what she needed to do. Pretend to fall in love with riddler only to kill him in cold blood. The thing is you feel nothing about Ed's death despite how infuriating it is thst this show kills of major batvillains like Hugo strange earlier in this season and Rupert Thorne, who's death is basically teased at during this moment in time during the show and riddler becomes his replacement. Youre only satisfied, which is intentional, but the fact that i wasnt infuriated shows how badly written he was. He just riddles his victims with bullets thats about it. Thats it.
Honestly gangster riddler was a decent concept, but the execution was rather piss poor. Its like how the hell do you mess up one of batmans most iconic rogues, but also you must consider that this show is also written by the guys who did Btas, and while amazing, that show was known to underutilize him or at least its follow uo the new batman adventures. They literally didn't know what to do with him so I think that explains it.
So has the rework made Natasha more viable
Im just asking this for those who play marvel rivals i need to know if shes still the least picked and if people like her better. This is important for her legacy.
What do christians think about the ready or not movies and is it okay to talk about or reccomend them to christians?
Im an atheist and I just love these movies and samara Weaving, and while I do have a friend who loves horror movies, shes very religious and even though im very passionate online about these movies, I do get afraid of telling people about them especially if its in a place where Christians occupy. So I must know. While Satanists are the bad guys, i do think some christians get really antsy over the stuff loke this and I dont want to cause a scene.
My Celebrity Worship, or: How I Learned to Stop Stanning and See the Human
In 1994, Kurt busiek wrote a miniseries called Marvels which centered on a journalist by the name of Phill Sheldon. He grew to admire all these heroes around him until the night that gwen Stacy died. This is where he grew frustrated and decided to call it quits. Like Sheldon, i too grew frustated and started to see the flaws of people i considered heroes like a few years ago when I got tired of worshipping Scarlett Johansson and saw that the celebrity world was nothing but filth.
One day however, i found myself falling for another celebrity after watching ready or not 2, but this time she was different. Samara Weaving, famous scream queen and multi talented actor who was just lauded for her performance in Carolina Caroline. When I first got into her I obviously didnt want to make the same mistakes as I did with scarjo where I kept on defending her really really bad shit, but the thing was I was consuming her wrong this whole time and not in a healthy way. Recently ive been watching a lot of samaras interviews and honestly ive become smitten. She not only has that charismatic energy, but she also has that brutal honesty that I dont see much from celebs. We're used to seeing manufactured and safe reactions from them. And when trying to be quirky, they just end up insufferable. But Samara on the other hand manages to pull off being a flawed person while still being able to dodge controversies, being kind to people, and be honest about herself. I feel safer when I connect to an actress who has nothing to hide. Theres no smoke and mirrors. And when she does something thats problematic shes able to come to her senses instead of doubling down. Shes someone you can actually relate to and I feel like shes the perfect example of how we should look at celebrities.
We shouldn't see them as gods or superheroes. We should see them as humans. I think its good to call them out on problematic stuff, but if I remember that one scarlett interview once she made a point about not being a role model. Even though I am still not happy about the choices she made, she is correct. Its okay to love and relate to celebrities. Its okay to connect with them as long as you know that they are not perfect. They're a lot like the greek deities of old. Powerful, but deeply flawed. A lot of those gos were vengeful, unfaithful, and always getting into public feuds and I feel like celebrities perfectly mirror this except this time theyre real.
I love Samara and I hope i continue consume to celebrities in a healthy non cult like manner. Like i said its okay to get attached to a celebrity and you do not to agree with everything they say. I was like that with scarlett. Even though I was somewhat still a teenager, I still feel remorse about brushing off all those problematic things and defending her instead of looking at it as wrong.
A tale of 2 celebrities (The Valet and Borderline)
So recently ive been getting into the work of Samara Weaving and I must say shes really fantastic. If only she was in better movies. However thst doesnt stop her from giving it her all. As I continue forward into her filmography I see someone whos able to blend in and not play herself. She looks completely different in a lot her projects. Even though theres characters look similar I can tell apart Olivia Allen from The Valet and Nix in Gun akimbo.
Today I want to talk about Olivia Allen and Sofia Minor from the movie borderline and how they each parallel each other. Lets start off with Sofia minor from Borderline although a big celebrity shes very down to earth as you can tell by watching that one dance sequence. This whole sequence is acted phenomenally by Weaving as she gives the character the much needed gravitas and warmth that Jimmy Warden forgot to give her. No offense to him, but he didnt really flesh out any of these characters enough. So thats where his wife comes in and once again shes fantastic. You don't see samara weaving, you see Sofia Minor and she just acts naturally. You cna tell that sofia has connections and other friends which isnt surprising for a celebrity, but something about her feels so relatable and down to earth. She maybe on every billboard in town, bur shes not your average pop star. Unfortunately we arent really given a lot of Sofia outside life. Instead we see her being intruded by a maniac. So she doesnt really change much.
Now compare her to Olivia Allen at the beginning of The Valet, who starts off very detached from the world and in a relationship with a criminal politician no less, but as the movie progresses, She meets a valet who will change her life and that is what leads to her becoming less over the top and more like a real person. The over the top pretentious personality makes it feel as if Olivias just acting out her life instead of being a real person. Its not until she meets Antonio, a civilian whom humbles her into someone better.
So I think these 2 roles pretty much showcase how brilliant of an actress Samara is and how much energy she brings to the table. She disappears into every single role she plays and I dont think of her as samara instead I think of them as these characters which she brought to life. Eenie meanie would've been even more boring if it weren't for her performance. Overall, I love how shes her own beast instead of being "Uncle Hugo's offering to hollywood".

In loving memory of sam neil I present to you his first quote from Jurassic Park
Now growing up Alan Grant was one of my heroes along with Ian Malcolm. Id pretend this random imaginext guy was him as I played jurassic park with toys. He was such a fantastic lead as hes apart of what makes jp Jp. Sams delivery of the quote i just posted is just amazing as it sums up a lot you nedd to know about Alan. Alan isnt exactly a fond of certain things like children and especially computers which makes it even more ironic that hes goes to an island full of creatures that wete brought back to life by that very technology.
Originally Harrison Ford was supposed to play him, but then declined and thats when we got sam. Honestly im glad we got sam. No one could've played him better and as much as i hate JP3, sam pretty much made that whole entire movie. Tbh i dont usually get sad about celebrity deaths unless its unexpected, but like ive said Alan is one of my childhood heroes so seeing sam go makes me sad.
A talk about my own parasocial experience and how it affects latest celebrity crush
Once upon a time, I had a big crush on Scarlett Johansson. It started out fine until like a year later it became awful, but i refused to admit so until years later. Like yeah I admire her acting, but I was really attached to her as a person too and some of the stuff she said influenced me. Shes what made me a big Rodger's and hammerstein fan. What concerned me the most about this relationship was how I constantly defended her when she was the bad guy like her rub and tug controversy, I was on her side and didnt know how wrong she was until she said she was wrong. The thing is her getting cancelled online is what made me mad and worried for a bunch of days. Same thing with her "tree" statement I was so worried that day. And worst of all when she defended woody Allen I chose to be neutral instead of calling it out like I should've. It was exhausting to defend everything she did and get upset at every controversy people threw at her. Now as a grown man I realize i wasted too much time defending her and her awful decisions. Fast forward to now ive fallen for a new celebrity crush one that everyone is raving as this decades scream queen.
I absolutely love her as an actress, but Im trying my best to not fall into the same pit traps as I did with scar jo. Ive already decided not to follow her Instagram. I do consider reading and watching her interviews sometime, but with limits. Probably her next press tour, but okay if I miss it. Like again I dont mind reading more about her, its what prevents her from being a cardboard cutout and she does seem like a fun person. Its just i domt want to fall into that same scarlett johansson trap again. Thats what im afraid of. I already just overcame a little jealousy of her husband, who's honestly not a bad guy, just didnt know who he was. Like I didnt want to be jealous, but its something that happens to a lot of people when they first get obsessed with celebrities. At least I wasnt like this with scarlett, cause Ik Colin jost and was happy to see them be married. So yeah im trying my best not to be in that same rabbit hole loke I was before.
When youre the only one in your friend group who prefers nat over yelena
I just want to say people who think yelena is better than nat as well as her comic counterpart have not read the comics. Hell i even prefer nat in the mcu over mcu yelena. People act like I want a 1:1 adaptation, when in reality I recognize this character is not being portrayed the way she is. They act like she has clearer character development when really they just skipped half of her character being nasty and uncaring.
Is Charlie the worst friend ever
This guy says he and George are like brothers and then snitches on them. Also how relieved George felt when he shoved the sock in charlies mouth and threw him in the door. He had enough
I think the addition of Natasha would've improved this roster
Sometimes you'll need a spy
We need to talk about this
So a few months ago, I made a post here about how bm/ww couples are perceived and after a few months its still irritating to hear the misconceptions about white mothers and the children they conceive. Its irritating i must address yeah there's definitely racist people who date outside their race including white men. I for some reason keep seeing "white women do it the most." Yeah its becomes a game of he/she said instead of a real conversation, but then I noticed that this hatred for bm/ww not only stems from the obivous offenders (the white supremacists), but also certain people within the black community pushing the lie about white moms. Everyone has a different experience. My mom doesnt hate me nor my dad.
You can easily tell how one sided these opinions are. I dont think they accurately represent every black man white woman couple.
A confession about natasha
Comic books are complicated and no shows that better than Natasha Romanoff. While many people are able to easily say what they prefer out of this character. Im more on the rocks about her characterization i loved every black widow run (had a little dislike for Richard k Morgan's run, but im over that now.) Its weird because for me i see her more as an influential hero type who isnt afraid to get down and dirty. Unlike some of my peers im able to praise the Kelly Thompson run thats like my favorite bw book. I even have a poster on my wall of it. One of the few comics that actually made me cry and ill admit I was very agitated over some of the hate as an autistic person cuase I love that run so much. I have an attachment to the more heroic side of nat. Like yeah shes not bubbly (and id be concerned if she was, like i think Kelly's nat is nice, but shes not that bubbly really.) Yeah its sad to see that there are a lot of fans who disagree with me, but its not so sad when I see that there are fans who do love it.
However the popular opinion seems to lean more towards the anti hero and sometimes I feel so out of touch with everyone else despite there being othrr fans who love kellys take. Though I do know that I have every right to interpret her and the way I interpret her is a bit mixed. Ive always viewed her as some sort of heroic spy whether it be saving trafficked women/kids, kicking the f**k out of abusers, or fighting aliens. I really relate to the redemption stuff because I too feel guilt about things ive done in the past and its why that really reasonates with me. You guys have every right to disagree.
And also I must mention that I do adore her ruthlessness its just something that I had to think about over the years. I mean there are heroes who shoot people (pulp heroes basically) so I can easily say I dont really have a problem with her killing and im sure Steve and Matt know. Shes able to do the stuff they cant. I love that. Its really cool to have someone who can be nice and help save the world sometimes while also being a ruthless morally gray spy and taking down the people who deserve it. I just wanted tot get this out of the way cause its a lot.
