My birbfren's baby flew into my arms during our first meeting

Hi everyone! Some of you might remember me from this post https://www.reddit.com/r/pigeon/s/PBdH89YEol .

I got a little update for you!

Previous birbfren (now christened Boris) had a baby in his nest that he was feeding. Two babies actually, a nest of two, but the first one sadly didn't survive :( I guess it must have been the heatwave, but it could have been anything being realistic, from birthdefect to sickness. I always made sure there was enough seed and water nearby, and there is an abundance of greenery and lush here.

I first noticed when the nest was being plagued by flies and wasps, literally tearing apart the little body, and flying away with chunks of it. Of course irritating mom and Boris. So at that point I waited until they left the nest for a bit and I took the little corpse out. It was fully flattened from the parents still sitting on it, that was really sad to see. I have a picture but I don't feel comfortable uploading that. I don't want the lil' birbs memory to live like that in your minds.

It was the most squeakiest, yellowest, flappiest lil birbie 💞 I just wanted to take a moment and want you all to know it existed and made the world a bit more beautiful.

Today though, the other little survivor flew back home! He flew out of it's nest 1,5 week ago and I hadn't seen him since. All the while Boris came asking for seed daily, so I gotta admit I was worried. But the baby flew over today on my balcony and when I called him, he promptly landed on my leg, eyeing the seed in my hands.

I did not have to wait long and he just jumped into my arms 🥺 I read on this sub that birbs like to be squished lightly, and I know that chickens have that reflex that relaxes hem when you keep them under your neck/armpit. So I just tried to make my arms as comfy as possible, haha.

I think a big part of its trust is also because of the food I'm giving? This is just a wild speculation, but I used to feed Boris this seed and he would DIRECTLY fly to the baby and regurgitate it to feed him. So the taste must be quite comforting, I think? Thoughts welcome, haha.

Of course I've been talking with/singing to Boris a lot, so he must've heard me during these months. What a cutie. The mother flew away really quickly btw after he got bigger, is that normal? Dad Boris stuck around way longer.

I do also want to take a moment and thank u/freneticboarder for their kindness last time. It allowed me not only to buy some food for me and my cat, but also to stock up on some quality seeb ♥️💞 I am forever grateful.

How to thank Bastet for saving my cat?

Hi everyone! Long-time reader, first time poster here. I (M34) really really need your advice. This post will have a bit of story, so there is a TL/DR below.

I have a cat, Balou (M, 10) and he's the absolute love of my life. I adopted him when he was 5 and we've been forever since. Last year we became homeless together for a while before finding a place to live. We're both finally in some slow waters again.

A few weeks ago I noticed a lump in Balou's tail that started bleeding. I was/am as broke as can be, being disabled and on benefits, but I was able to find a temporary two-week contract-job that allowed me to get Balou to vet consults and eventually a proper clinic.

The lump turned out to be a cluster of localised tumours and amputation of his tail was the most financially sensible choice I could make. As long as Balou is okay, I am okay.

I am not a religious man and my experience with witchcraft is my core-memory of watching Charmed as a teenager with my aunt, and subsequently having a triquetra tatted on my sternum. I talk to The Moon when lonely and to The Sea when weary. But in the two days between consult and operation I prayed, cried, and begged to the only cat/feline deity I could think of: Bastet.

I would do and give anything if She could save one of Her little children.

How blessed I am that Balou is laying next to me right now, healthier and happier than ever. The operation was a success, and the days afterwards have been nothing but heaven together. I was sad for a day, seeing the little nub where his tail used to be: one of my nicknames for him is 'Kwispelstaartje', which is Dutch for 'Little tail that wags', but then quickly changed that school of thought when I saw how supercute his nubbie looks now when he wags it! Like a deer or bunny, so I have lovingly dubbed him "Wiebelbipsje' now, which is Dutch for 'Little butt that wobbles'. I love him so much, no words are enough.

All this brings me to my question: I promised and swore to Bastet I would do and give anything if She saved Balou, but what exactly can I do? I barely own anything, I have no money to offer, I have skipped meals to buy food for Balou. There is no church that I can walk into, or a place of worship for Bastet. I feel like a fraud and a failure and I have of course done a prayer of thanks, but my heart breaks knowing that nothing I could ever do/offer would equal the price of Balou's life.

I look at you as mothers and fathers with wisdom and experience. I have no social circle where I can ask this question, please please tell me what I can do to show Bastet my thankfulness and respect.

Blessed be, and thank you for reading.

TL/DR:

Am homeless and poor. My cat got cancer. Prayed to Bastet to save him. Prayer got answered! Am super happy but now feeling bad, what can I do/give to Bastet to show my thanks and respect besides just a prayer. TYIA!

List of bands with numbers but no numbers, use THE instead. It's great! It's in!

Hey guys, yeah hey! How you doin'? Have a seat. Listen, the reason I made this post here is like band names. The number band thing. It's OUT. Blink-182, Green Day 75, these names are NOT cool.

What's in now is THE, okay?

THE strokes, THE vines, THE hives, THE white stripes, so this isn't new!! THE led zeppelins, right?? Are you feelin' me???

Guys, check this out. THE. We use THE instead of numbers! IT'S GREAT!

What's in now is like drinking your beer and smoking your things, you like that??? It's great!!

Have some context, haha:

I made my first lil' birb fren!!!

Hi everyone! Look at this little cutie!!

After being homeless with my cat (10, male) for a while we found a room to live in and there was a pidgeon nest on the balcony! I befriended this little cutie over the last few weeks and I'm in loveee. I speak fluent cat since adopting mine 5 years ago, but birds are totally new to me! I try to talk to him as much as I can, keep my body and head low'ish as a starting point, respond to his head-turning by turning mine, and I whistle/coo/purr when feeding him or when he's being a cutie. Sometimes he'll put up one wing slowly and showy and do a little dancy-dance-sway/hop, I can only hope this is the pigeon-equivalent of a slow-blink :) Please leave any do's and don't and advice that you have for me. I'm not looking to make him mine, I just want to be a good companion during his stay here.

I was wondering if y'all could tell me anything about him/her, at first glance? :) I bought some pigeon seed-food last week and it was well received, lil' baby has an appetite. I've noticed he switches watch with mom(?) sitting in the nest on the babies that hatched a few days ago, I haven't seem him feeding them yet, but the partner for sure has. I put out a big bowl of water a bit under their nest, so I think hydration is covered, but is that ok/safe?

Some shady shit out of the Maricopa elections office in AZ. They literally removed a ballot envelope scanner IN THE MIDDLE OF VOTE COUNTING during the March 10th primary- for some reason?

They loaded it into a personal pick up and brought it back after staff at the elections center complained. They also apparently took some provisional ballots with them too - those ballots were returned and accounted for. Meanwhile the Maricopa recorder Justin Heap has been defensive and not cooperative
