Mamdani announces city-run grocery to open in the Bronx

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) announced Monday the city’s first public grocery store, "tentpole of his campaign" would open in the Hunts Point neighborhood of the Bronx, a major initiative aimed at expanding access to affordable fresh food in underserved communities.   “New Yorkers will not need to wait long for costs to drop,” Mayor Mamdani said. “This store will be the first of the five city run grocery stores to open.”
