Hello lovelies, Mod ThugSeme here to bother you all again. I have been personally really low on some good smu- I mean wholesome Christian fanfiction to read, and a little birdie (or an entire fucking flock) has expressed similar sentiments to me! I am writing you all today, not as a mod, but as a fellow fanfic fanatic. How interested would you all be in having a weekly fanfiction sharing megathread?

Here are my thoughts: We can do special NSFW weeks, where we only share explicit fics, while the rest would be normal and all ages, or we could allow R18 fics all the time mixed in with regular fics(but that would exclude some people who have their settings set to not allow NSFW posts for various reasons). I also was thinking we could do each week focusing on one character or ship? But I feel like we eventually would run out... So maybe a theme, aka Dead Dove Week, Mpreg week, Fluff week, etc??? I like having it be more streamlined instead of a free-for-all personally, and it also allows anyone who is REALLY wanting some good old-fashioned Oviposition to get their fix with an entire post. But at the same time, not everyone is a degenerate freak like I am. I dunno, I need ideas!!! GIMME IDEAS.

The entire post was talking about how big of allies women were for creating bl and how gay men should be thankful to them… and it just came off as really disgusting honestly. BL isn’t made for queer people. Historically it’s been straight women getting money from the queer community by writing stories to appeal to their mainly straight women audiences fetish. THATS NOT TO SAY CURRENTLY ALL BL FANS ARE STRAIGHT WOMEN in recent years there has been a massive shift in quality of stories and the fanbase. But this comment along with other ones I saw just seem out of touch and disgusting.

I can’t understand how people genuinely believe that a lot of BL which is just fetishizing assault is actually good representation. Not to mention there is nothing for dark skinned queers or GNC queers in these stories. No mainstream MLM stories have representation beyond them being two cis white gay men. Because the people consuming them don’t actually give a shit about representation.

There are always outliers of course. Lots of BL has come out that is genuinely beautiful and speaks to me as a queer person. That’s why I love the genre. But some straight women in the fanbase just seem so delusional. I wouldn’t call this allyship, and it’s really concerning to me that some cishet women genuinely believe they aren’t being massive bigots when they say stuff like this.

I wish queer things weren’t constantly taken by straight people and ruined. I have constantly felt ostracized recently due to falsely assuming the women in my life would understand and care about my struggles because we are both women. But I feel like every time I get blindsided by very blatant queer phobia and lack of care.

(I’m also a girl, so I’m not trying to be misogynistic with this, I think things like this deserved to be called out without someone using that defense to deflect)

So, since literally nobody participated this week in the event, I am gonna hold off doing the final event until after the Fourth of July. So no event next week. The final event is also one I really like and am hoping a lot of people participate in, since it involves whoever wins getting their submission put in the banner of the sub.

I watched but I’m a cheerleader recently and maybe it’s because I’ve grown up on like only BL written by cishet women, but this was like, a transcendent experience for me, I felt genuine sorrow and joy in my soul watching these girls on screen. I felt seen.

I appreciate BL, but recently I’ve just had a really hard time actually enjoying it thanks to the communities built around it. There is such an obsession with ignoring romance+the deeper themes intended by the author by making everything constantly about “who is top and bottom” when the story is about fucking middle schoolers navigating what it means to be gay or the tragedy of internalized homophobia. It makes me realize that I’m not part of the target audience for these things and kind of alienates me.

I really would appreciate some suggestions for queer made things. Manga, anime, movies shows. I have a few Yuri on my list to watch, and I really want to watch “I saw the TV glow” since I feel like trans experience aren’t centered nearly often enough. And especially not POC trans experience.

Idk, I’m not dissing anyone who loves Yaoi (I do too still I think I consider it helping me figure out my sexual and gender identity as it has a lot of other ppl) I’m just a bit tired of most queer things I come across being about two light skinned cis men. Maybe that’s the fault of my algorithm, and maybe I’m not in the right circles. But I feel like those are the only things that ever ‘blow up’ or gain semi mainstream attention.

I just really want to feel the same tingles in my body I did when I watched this movie. Thank you to anyone who gives suggestions.
