Fitbit Air or Amazfit Balance 2? Confused after "The Quantified Scientist" Video

I am really confused. Please help me out here. I want to get a new fitness tracker, and Google has still not launched the Fitbit Air here in India, so I'll have to import it, which would cost me around $ 150-ish.

Amazfit Balance 2 is available as of now for $ 220.

Price-wise, there's not much of a difference. What I am worried about is the tracking performance. I don't see myself sleeping with that bulky of a watch every night, but at the same time, I cannot do away with looking at my watch for my VO2 stats or heart rate during exercises.

Coming to data-centric points, if you check "The Quantified Scientist", the Fitbit just obliterates Balance 2 on every single metric, be it heart rate tracking or sleep tracking, even comparing to other Amazfit devices, the Balance 2 is ranked much lower compared to even Bip Max and Active Max.

It does not even make sense for me to get the Balance 2, a lot of you might suggest the Balance 3 to me, but I don't like the much bulkier, chunkier device.

Active 3 Premium and Max look cheap to me, I just want your opinion on the matter.

Vacancy Rounds : Admission Fees or Money Making Exercise (33 Lakhs from one admission round) Who regulates this?

Just checked HPNLU's list of applicants. Around 1,300 candidates have applied for the current admission round. At ₹2,500 per application, that's over ₹33 lakh collected in a single round.

And HPNLU isn't even an exception.

Some universities charge ₹500, some ₹1,500, some ₹2,000–₹4,000, and I've even seen application fees touching ₹20,000.

What bothers me isn't just the fee itself, it's the complete lack of accountability.

  • No regulation on how much a university can charge.
  • No publicly available breakdown of the actual costs involved.
  • No justification for why one university charges four or five times more than another.
  • No refund policy, regardless of the outcome.

Most of these admission processes are conducted online, yet thousands of applicants collectively end up paying universities tens of lakhs, and in some cases, crores.

Is there any genuine oversight over these application fees, or have universities simply been allowed to turn admissions into a revenue stream under the guise of "processing charges"?

North Indian - Coming to Vizag for master for a year, Would like to know about the city

Hello people of Vizag!

I'll be moving there soon for college, and to be honest, I know almost nothing about the city. To make things more interesting, my college is located quite far from the main city area, so I'm trying to get a better idea of what life there is like.

I'd love to hear your suggestions and experiences. What's the weather like throughout the year, and what kind of clothes should I pack? Are there any local quirks or things a newcomer should know about?

I'm also looking for recommendations on good and affordable places to eat, local food I shouldn't miss, places worth visiting on weekends, and generally anything that would help me make the most of my time in Vizag.

Feel free to share your tips, hidden gems, dos and don'ts, or just anything you think a student new to the city should know. Looking forward to hearing from you all and hopefully falling in love with the city!

The campus is around 30-35km away from the city, it's a residential campus, though.

Should I go with Mi Band 10 or Fitbit Air? (student here so value matters) or wait for Mi band 11

I am not someone who would prefer wearing something that would require going through my phone for everything, as I have heard about auto tracking on the Fitbit Air being a hit or miss.

The thing with the Mi Band is that Xiaomi would drop support as soon as they pop out 11, whereas Google's band is already really good and would go on to get even better.

The price difference, though, is considerable for someone who's from an asian country.

Suggest please.

Mi Band 10 or Fitbit Air

I understand that Fitbit Air is all the rage nowadays, and everybody wants to get in on that, but a while back, Mi Band 10 was the new rage, a cheap alternative to all the expensive fitness trackers out there.

My question is, even after importing costs, one could get the Mi Band 10 for under 6k (Indian)($63) and has better sensors compared to the Fitbit Air, which would cost around 10k (Indian) ($106)

If I have to choose one, which should I get?

And it's not like Mi Band is inaccurate or Fitbit Air has no issues; both have their own caveats.

I am a beginner at tracking fitness, but I am not new to it, I would also like to wear something which atleast tells me the time, and I don't know how accurate the auto tracking on Fitbit Air would be. I have seen a lot of posts which says, it's not.

I am not sure about the temperature sensor on the device itself as I stay in India and I switch from a temperature-controlled room, to scorching heat to a humid place very frequently.

DSNLU refund policy, Please Help

Got selected through the vacancy round and have to pay the fee by 22nd June. (LLM)

Meanwhile, I'm waiting on a job application under a ministry of gov of India, but the process takes around 2 months.

There's no official timeline for refund for the year 2026-27.

The previous one's that I've seen say that, by August itself, I'll get 0 refund back, there's no mention for refund for the coming batch.

UGC guidelines mention that full refund has to be made after a deduction of ₹1000 as processing fee, up till 30th September but that's also for 2025-26.

If anyone has any information on the same, do let me know.

NLUJAA or NFSU Delhi, for LLM?

My rank is in the later 2000's (EWS), I'm not sure if I'll get into NFSU Delhi, but I'll have to make payment for Nlujaa in couple of days.

Nlujaa is a lower T-2/T-3 NLU, and is in the outskirts of Guwahati, meanwhile NFSU's campus is in Dwaraka so I'll be in the middle of the legal capital.

I'm not sure if I should make payment for NLUJAA or wait for NFSU.

Also would it be worth pursuing LLM from NFSU?

I've completed my ug from a T-2 NLU.

What I've heard is that I'd pretty much get the whole day to myself at nlujaa as it's not demanding at all, they've about 7-10 classes per week, so I'd rather have time to study but at the same time, I'd be cut off from practically everything for a year.

My partner's a semi vegetarian and we had an argument about that, I need to know what others think about this.

I am a non-vegetarian, and if possible, I would like to consume non-veg as a source of protein every day. My partner, on the other hand, is a vegetarian when she's at home for religious reasons, as she keeps a deity in her room and is a very religious person in general. I am not particularly religious, but I do consume non-veg outside quite frequently.

When we started dating around two years ago, she did not eat non-veg at all. She used to consume it at one point, but after she started keeping the deity with her, she completely gave it up for about 4–5 years. That being said, she always wanted to have it, as she had been a hardcore non-vegetarian at one stage of her life.

Initially, whenever we went out on dates or ordered food, I would make sure to order vegetarian food because I wanted to keep her comfortable and respected her way of living. Eventually, however, she started eating non-veg again, and over time, it became fairly frequent. She would eat it outside her home, come back, wash herself, and then enter her room, but she does consume it.

Now, here comes the main issue.

When we first started dating, she told me that if we eventually got married, she would not allow non-veg to be cooked in our kitchen because, for religious reasons, she would have to clean everything every time I cooked it, and she did not want to do that. The same thing happens in my own home—my mother is a vegetarian, so non-veg is cooked separately in another setting. Because of that, my partner's position seemed reasonable to me, and I told her that it was fine. I said I would either get it prepared from somewhere else or cook it somewhere else in the house.

Last night, a similar conversation came up again. This time, however, I told her that I would prefer to cook my food in the kitchen because it's not as if she doesn't consume non-veg herself. It is a major inconvenience to cook it in the living room or some other makeshift arrangement, and the only reason I had agreed to that setup in the first place was because I was respecting her religious beliefs. Now that I know she consumes non-veg quite frequently, I don't understand why I should have to go the extra mile and source it from somewhere else.

My suggestion was simple: she can keep a separate set of utensils for religious purposes and store them separately. It seems far more practical to separate five utensils than to effectively treat the entire kitchen as off-limits.

This led to a disagreement, which eventually turned into a fight of sorts. I was very clear about my position. I am not going to change my consumption pattern based on hers. If we both decide to go completely vegetarian, that would still be acceptable to me. But this selective consumption doesn't make much sense to me, and I find it difficult to respect that distinction.

How do we sort this out?

I do not want to spend the rest of my life having to leave my house and buy even something as simple as a boiled egg from a stall. That is exactly what happened in my own home, and over time members of my family simply stopped eating non-veg on normal days because it became such a hassle. I do not want to live like that for the rest of my life.

At the same time, I am not going to leave her over this issue, so please rule that out.

I am looking for a harmonious way forward, if there is one.
