Where and how do you actually watch TV shows?

Curious about everyone's setup and habits. Where do you end up watching most of your shows?

Do you stick to the classic couch and big TV setup, binge in bed on a laptop, catch episodes on your phone during your commute, or just put something on in the kitchen while eating?

For me, it usually depends on the show, but most of the time I binge-watch my show on my laptop in bed before sleeping.

I'm curious what your go-to spot is. Where do you watch most of your stuff?

If you had to pick one GOAT performance among female TV leads, who you taking?

I made a similar post recently but as a redditor pointed out, it was lacking female leads!

So this time I'm focusing strictly on female leads who delivered absolute acting masterclasses.

I narrowed it down to 7 iconic powerhouses from 7 of the best shows ever made:

  1. Rhea Seehorn as Kim Wexler (Better Call Saul)

  2. Carrie Coon as Nora Durst (The Leftovers)

  3. Elisabeth Moss as Peggy Olson (Mad Men)

  4. Claire Danes as Carrie Mathison (Homeland)

  5. Edie Falco as Carmela Soprano (The Sopranos)

  6. Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Selina Meyer (Veep)

  7. Sarah Snook as Shiv Roy (Succession)

If you could only pick one out of these 7 to take the crown, who are you choosing and why?

(And if your personal #1 isn't listed here, like Lena Headey, Michaela Coel, or Jodie Comer, who would you swap out?)

If you had to pick one GOAT performance among TV leads, who you taking?

Settling a debate with a friend about who gave the best lead acting performance in TV history.

We narrowed it down to 7 heavy hitters from 7 of the biggest/best shows ever:

  1. James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano (The Sopranos)

  2. Bryan Cranston as Walter White (Breaking Bad)

  3. Jon Hamm as Don Draper (Mad Men)

  4. Bob Odenkirk as Jimmy McGill (Better Call Saul)

  5. Carrie Coon as Nora Durst (The Leftovers)

  6. Kyle MacLachlan as Dale Cooper / Dougie (Twin Peaks)

  7. Matthew McConaughey as Rust Cohle (True Detective S1)

If you could only pick one out of these 7, who are you taking and why?

(And if your actual #1 isn't on here, who’d you swap out?)

I can't decide between #5 and #7 ❤️

what's the TV show or movie that you have re-watched the most?

For me is Friends, no doubt about it.

I must have watched this at least a couple of times per year since 2010, I can't absolutely live without having it in the background while I cook or I clean the house and stuff.

I love how my perceptions and feelings change according to the phase of my life I'm living during the re-watch.

And I love the opening song!!!!

how about you?

I need recommendations for a show to binge this weekend (looking for summer vibes)

Hey all,

looking to binge-watch a shot this weekend and I'm looking at summer vibes, so I guess the location is the most important thing for those vibes?

Ideally, I'm looking for something with one or two season at most.

Something like Outerbanks or The white lotus would do I guess, it doesn't need to be the greatest show, I just need to feel some summer vacations vibes 🙂

Shoot what you have, thanks 🙏🏼

Binge-watching vs. Slow-watching: How do you prefer to watch a TV show?

When you discover a great show, do you burn through it in a couple of days or space the episodes out?

I usually lean towards binging, but I've realized some shows actually hit way better when you take your time and let each episode digest (like with Mad men and Lost).

How about you? Do you destroy a season in one sitting or do you prefer the slow burn?

walking is what has been helping me with stress and anxiety over the past year

I was used to run, like a lot, then hot injured and started feeling anxious and depressed because I couldn't run.

I've been working to heal from the injury but in the meantime I became a serial walker to fight stress and anxiety.

I only wish the healing power of walking was more known out there

u/TrustingEverybody — 22 days ago

almost 2 years without running a race, how do you cope with injuries?

Been almost 2 years from the NYC marathon (but I did a mix run/walk), and after that only the Rome relay...

I'm sick of this injury and I can't wait to be back on running regularly

how do you cope with injuries and period without training?

I was used to run when stressed or when I needed some alone time for thinking things through, unfortunately I don't know how to manage things differently 😔

"I got the shotgun, you got the briefcase, it's all in the game though, right?" [Omar Little]

is this one of the most beautiful exchange in the history of Television, or what?

Seriously!

I'm binge watching The Wire for the first time and I can't help thinking this is one of the best TV show ever.

I love how deep all the relationships and the conversations are, and exchanges like this one has to be some of the best pieces television has to offer!

Omar Little us growing on me, at this rate I will prefer him to McNulty

What are the shows you can rewatch endlessly without ever getting bored?

I’m looking for shows with high rewatch value and was curious what everyone’s go-to is and why 🙂

For me, it depends on the mood:

- Friends, because is my ultimate comfort background show. Perfect to throw on while cooking or when I don’t need to give it 100% of my attention.

- The Leftovers, because the music, the raw emotion, and the fact that it feels like a totally different experience every single time I watch it. This is my absolute favourite show of all time.

- Twin Peaks, well because no matter how many times I rewatch it, I somehow understand less every time 😅

What’s your top pick and what keeps bringing you back to it?

"Fuck you McNulty!" "What the fuck did I do?" (The wire is easily creeping into my top 5 favorite TV shows of all time)

I've only started watching The Wire last week after years of people recommending it to me, and man what a journey has been so far!

Jimmy McNulty specifically is probably one of the best characters in the TV shows scene. I love his relationship with Bunk and I love how well written are his relationship with characters like Omar or Bubbles!

I'm currently mid season 2 and I was surprised to see Amy Ryan in there, I love her from The Office! She is very good and I love how the writers managed the change of scenery and for them to work on a different case compared to season 1!

I can't wait to see what's next, but in the mean time I can only say: "FUCK YOU MCNULTY!"

...for forcing me to revising my top 5 favorite characters 😅

I need a new comfort show to watch while I'm cooking

Hey all, I'm a big fan of TV shows, but I'm not english speaker so I often need to be very concentrated when watching a show in original language and I often use the help of subtitles (like now I'm watching The Wire and I'd be lost without subtitles 😅)

Anyway, I spend a decent amount of time cooking and that's when I watch my comfort shows.

For now I keep re-watching my favourites, that are Friends and The Office (US version)

I'm looking for similar vibes, so please suggest the best you got 🙂

Which single episode of a show felt like a feature film? For me, it’s "On the inside", TWD 11x06.

The episode "On the Inside" completely blew me away. It felt so detached from the usual TWD style and leaned 100% into pure, unfiltered horror.

I wish horror movies out there were this good!

The vibes here are so perfect! Claustrophobic, unsettling, and genuinely horrifying. The direction and cinematography made the house feel like its own breathing monster, and the actors were incredible. It's crazy how they communicated raw panic without needing words.

(Massive shoutout to Kevin Carroll btw, I love him so much in The Leftovers).

Watching those feral people crawling through the air ducts and walls was top-tier cinema imo. I genuinely wish they had expanded this exact concept into a full standalone movie.

This entire episode creeps me out and lives rent free in my head since the first time I watched it!

2 weeks after creating the sub, these are some results

Hey all!

I've created r/pickmynextshow a couple of weeks ago with the aim to create a space to discuss tv shows and share recommendations that aren't AI generated.

I'm a tv shows addicted so I wanted to try 🙃

results aren't that bad, I think.

I send DM to users that I find in other subs asking for specific tv shows recommendations and I crosspost some of my posts.

The growth is slow but steady, any additional tip or tricks is more than welcome 🙏🏼
