Tian-Chen Liu appreciation post

Ok, now that season 4 ended I'm rewatching From and I just need to say that Mama Liu is easily one of the best characters.

What I love most is how she balances being fiercely strict with being the ultimate source of comfort.

She takes zero BS from anyone, but she still manages to encourage and protect everyone around her.

Her dynamic with Jade is unmatched, she treats him like a stubborn son, bossing him around the kitchen and calling him out when he's erratic, but gives him exactly what he needs: structure, purpose, and a sense of belonging.

They went from bickering to genuinely leaning on each other, and it's so wholesome.

Despite everything she lost, she still wakes up every day to keep that diner running for the community.

What made it truly unwatchable was the sheer psychological torture of Boyd being pinned down, forced to bear witness to every single second of her agonizing screams. It wasn't just a loss for the town; it was a deeply traumatic turning point for Boyd himself

John Dorie & "Laura" appreciation post

I’ll be honest, I never really loved the Fear spin-off, but John Dorie and Laura brought so much value to the whole saga.

What I appreciate the most about them is how their approach to the apocalypse is probably the most realistic scenario if the world actually ended.

While every other group is out there fighting endless wars, burning down communities, or chasing power, their whole setup was the absolute dream.

Just hiding away in a safe, secluded spot right by a river to fish, filtering your own water, and building practical defenses to stop walkers from getting to you while you sleep.

If a zombie apocalypse actually happened tomorrow, that is exactly what anyone should do instead of looking for constant drama.

On top of that, the actors were incredibly good. Garret Dillahunt and Jenna Elfman brought so much depth and warmth to the screen, and honestly, their performances were amazing, especially compared to Madison, who always felt way too rigid in my opinion.

I was only able to go through the first 3 seasons because I was waiting for Morgan to appear, but John and Laura actually gave the show a beating heart when it needed it the most imo

Sal appreciation post

I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate Salvatore Romano, because the more I rewatch the show, the more I realize how incredibly complex, beautiful, and ultimately tragic his character arc is.

Sal isn’t just a background character; he is a crucial mirror to the changing world of the 1960s and the absolute hypocrisy of Sterling Cooper.

I think this is one of the best written characters of the entire show, I love his talent, his genuine kindness and the quiet dignity he maintains while living a double life in a deeply homophobic era. He is an artist in a world of salesmen, and a man deeply trapped by the expectations of his time.

My absolute favorite scene with him is from Season 3, Episode 1 ("Out of Town"), when he goes on a business trip with Don to Baltimore.

For the first time in the entire series, we see Sal completely let his guard down. He stops performing the role of the happily married, traditional Italian-American man. He is genuinely happy, free, and living in the moment.

Sal deserved so much better. He was fired not for failing at his job, but for having the dignity to say no to sexual harassment, in a world that offered him zero protection.

Every time I see that scene in Baltimore where he is just smiling and being himself, it breaks my heart. He was truly one of the best characters on the show

Victor appreciation post

I just really wanted to take a moment to talk about Victor, because now that season 4 ended, I realized he’s easily one of the best-written characters.

When you first meet him, he feels like this classic, eerie mystery-box character. Nothing special, already seen in tons of other tv shows.

But as the story unfolds, you realize how incredibly well he fits into the entire narrative puzzle of the town.

His childlike demeanor and the way he processes the world aren't just quirks, they are entirely consistent with his backstory.

I mean, this guy grew up surviving an unimaginable trauma completely on his own. ALONE in a town where monsters devoured all the people.

It makes perfect sense that a part of him emotionally froze at the exact age he was when everything went down.

Also, what I love about Victor is how he acts as a catalyst for everyone else.... every single time another character interacts with him, we get something incredible on how the plot unfolds.

He forces the people around him to slow down, drop their usual defense mechanisms, and actually listen. Whether it’s Jade trying to crack a code, Ethan finding a weird connection, or Tabitha digging into the past, Victor is always the key that unlocks the most compelling subplots and deepest lore of the show

I am dreaming of a Victor's spin-off when this whole show comes to an end.

Anyone else feel like the show wouldn't work half as well without him?

Any recommendations for shows like 'From'?"

Hey, I'd love to hear what this community has to say about some shows like From.

Reading online I could find a few shows recommended, like Silo, Yellowjackets, Under the dome, Dark, Lost, Twin Peaks and many more.

The thing is among those I can see both one of my favourite (Twin Peaks) and my absolute least favourite (Under the Dome) so I have no clue which ones I should watch 😅

The idea is to keep me entertained till From season 5 🫠

C'mon then, shoot your best recommendations!
