BWAHAHAHA! I wish we got more updates on Don Kanonji

I wish they explored Don Kanonji beyond his arc in the beginning. It would have been really interesting if they used Kanonji as a stand in for the typical karakura town resident’s experience. He’s more in tune with spiritual pressure than the average human, so he would have a greater sense for the otherworldly stuff happening around him than everyone else around him. I think it would’ve been great for some of the scenes in TYBW where the worlds are falling apart to have Kanonji notice the soul society slowly appearing above him and all of the massive spiritual pressures from fights and whatnot.

AIO by not letting the aquarium take my picture?

Not a very serious situation compared to other AIO posts, but I’m still curious if others think I over reacted. My wife and friend still playfully tease me about it years later.

My wife and I were visiting a friend and we all went to the aquarium. We bought tickets online so we were ready to enter when we arrived. They were just regular general admission tickets, no photo packages or VIP passes or anything like that.

When we arrived we got to walk right by the ticket booth and get in line for entry. The line was pretty long so we waited about 15-20 minutes before we actually got into the first building where they take tickets.

When we entered the building we found out the reason it was taking so long is that they’re having every single person entering the aquarium that day sit down for a picture before going in. There wasn’t a sign that said “free family pictures” or anything to that effect, it was just a funnel that had you get your picture taken before they take your ticket, with seemingly no other option due to that being the roped off path.

I’m not a huge privacy nut or anything, but in particular I don’t like my picture taken unless there’s a good reason for it. Maybe I’m sensitive, but I was also just annoyed that they didn’t make this an option. The way the entrance was set up, the only way to enter was to sit down for a photo first.

So first I asked my wife and friend if they were interested in the picture, just so I wasn’t ruining an opportunity for them. They both agreed they weren’t interested, so I stepped out of line and walked up to an employee who was sort of just supervising this whole process. I said my family and I aren’t interested in a photo, can we just hand over our tickets and bypass the photos once we reach the front?

The employee acted very surprised and said don’t we want a free photo? I said thank you anyways but we don’t, we just want to go in. The employee said (paraphrasing, this was a couple years ago) “Well that’s fine if you don’t want the photo yourselves, but we still love using the photos on our website and other marketing materials for the aquarium so we’re asking all attendees for photos today”

I said no, I won’t be taking photos for your marketing today. I’ll hand over my ticket and go by it when it’s my turn. The attendant got upset and pulled us from line, took our tickets, and sent us in the aquarium ahead of the rest of the line. It was embarrassing to get pulled out of line and sent in front because that wasn’t the goal, I just wanted to not take a photo when it was our turn.

My wife and friend were glad they didn’t have to take a picture, but also said they gladly would have to not be embarrassed like that. At the end of the day, we were laughing it off and it was no big deal. But they still give me crap years later as if I was some kind of nut that day. I’m curious what others think

I don’t like Kunai being used for kenjutsu in Naruto, it feels like fighting with a butter knife

This fight is great but on a rewatch it stuck out how ridiculous it is that Kakashi is full on parrying with a kunai. Kakashi getting the white fangs chakra blade would’ve been cool, but even a tanto like Sai carries would’ve made more sense here. Especially because kakashi comes from the anbu as well.

Not just kakashi though, the series is full of people brining kunai to a katana fight. Because of the size of hidans scythe it looks extra ridiculous here.

Not really a fan of how the kunai was used throughout the series. Less effective than senbon when thrown, yet somehow able to parry massive weapons

Funny auto insurance story

I went to make my monthly insurance payment a few years back and when I logged in, I noticed the payment was already made.

I also noticed there was a car I didn’t recognize on my policy. So I called the insurance company to straighten this out, and they’re basically like “yeah… you added that car like a week ago what’s the issue?”

Once I got them to understand I didn’t do this, they looked into it. The other car owner has the exact same first and last name as me. Different middle names. Instead of writing him a new policy, they somehow added him to my policy.

The payment that was made came from the other guy. He thought the balance owed was for his car. Not sure why when he was only insured for like a week, but whatever.

Everything was straightened out same day. The insurance company let me keep the payment the other guy made as an apology and removed him from my policy

“I planted that kedo onto another kedo and shot it into your body”

Is this described differently in sub or in native Japanese? Is this an ability we knew was possible? I’m watching the series for the first time and I can’t shake how anticlimactic it feels to have Aizen sealed by a secret “kido within a kido” we’ve never heard of.

Did I miss something? Edit: did I miss something other than how to spell kido properly?🤣

Should I look into damage caused to my car AFTER an accident that caused total loss?

I’m in Massachusetts.

I was in an accident where I was 100% at fault, no question about it. My car had significant damage, all to the driver side.

The car was towed away. The next day the car was released to an auto body shop. I spoke with the auto body shop and they said to come get the contents of the vehicle and drop off my key. I used the PASSENGER door to get into the car and got what I needed. The door was perfectly fine before and after I left.

A couple days has passed while the adjuster came out to look at the car. Today it was deemed a total loss and I was told to go to the body shop and get the plates off of the car.

That leads to about an hour ago when I got to the body shop (after hours) to grab my plates. I immediately noticed a HUGE dent above the PASSENGER door handle that’s so deep it punched a hole clean through the door.

Here’s the thing, when I spoke with the auto body shop BEFORE the total loss determination was made, they had already done their own evaluation. (There are two evaluations done, one initial evaluation by the shop and then another by an insurance adjuster)

The owner of the body shop, after his evaluation, said that the cost of repairs was right on the edge of qualifying for a total loss. He made it a point to mention how difficult the repairs were going to be and how involved the process is once airbags have gone off.

Today I got the call that it just made the cut as a total loss, and now I see the additional damage.

This has been a stressful process (obviously) so I’m trying to confirm that this is just my brain connecting dots that aren’t there. But I can’t help but think to myself, did he damage the car extra to push it over the edge into “total loss” territory?

And assuming you all tell me that’s a really dumb thought and to forget about it, is there anything I need to do on my end about the new damage? Or does it all come out in the wash because it was deemed a total loss in the end? Does it matter if the damage occurred BEFORE or AFTER the total loss determination?

I would appreciate any insight

Any good place to shop for this card raw?

I’ve only had luck finding sealed and graded copies. I would rather a raw one and even one with play if possible. Any good place to look? I’ve tried eBay, mercari, and just google in general

Need help with Japanese Yugioh

I’m sorry I know “what do I have here” posts are rightfully hated, but I’m having trouble using the pricing guide because a lot of these are Japanese.

Could anyone just let me know if they see something worth more than a couple dollars here? I don’t primarily collect Yugioh, but I kept these because I liked the art. That being said, if anything here is valuable I’d rather sell to put towards something I’m more interested in.

I appreciate any help!

Wondering about my childhood bear. Would anyone be able to ID it from a physical description?

I was born in 1997 in NE USA and it was purchased for me the same year. It was a bean bag style teddy bear that sounded like it was stuffed with small plastic beads. It had light brown fur and was dressed in a red onesie and sleeping cap. The sleeping cap was red and white striped with a white ball on the end. The bottom of the feet on the onesie was made of a rubbery material with stippling. The onesie also had a butt flap, for lack of a better term. I would say it was probably slightly less than a foot in length.

This is as accurately as I can describe the bear, as I haven’t seen it since around 2005ish. I googled it once on my own and was actually able to find the exact bear, but this was about 10 years ago and I didn’t write any info down and can’t find it again.

I’m not sure if this is enough to go off but I figured it’s worth a shot. I appreciate any help!

Early deposit question

I have had early paycheck at my prior job through SoFi and I was paid the same time every 2 weeks like clockwork, 4pm on Wednesday.

I just started a new job and the first direct deposit hit Tuesday morning at about 5 am. Today, 2 weeks later, it’s noon and the direct deposit hasn’t hit.

Both workplaces have a biweekly, Friday payday.

What could be happening here? Is it something to do with when my new workplace submits my pay? Is there a reason the first one would’ve been early? I don’t fully know how this process works, it’s just always been consistent for me and wasn’t this time around. Any ideas?

First anime finale to make me cry

I was lucky enough to have never seen samurai champloo and binged it recently. The finale made me cry and I couldn’t even decide if they were happy tears or sad tears. Most anime I’ve seen have an unequivocally happy ending that can be tear jerking in their own way, but something about samurai champloo’s ending got me. It’s like “the journey isn’t over for the team, but their journey as a team is” and that really got me.

It’s also the first time I’ve frantically searched for any type of sequel/follow up after finishing an anime. I was disappointed there wasn’t anything more at first, but now I’ve accepted that it’s the best outcome.

Amazing anime, spectacular final episode/scene

This Cubone art is heartbreaking but relatable

This Cubone illustration shows Cubone missing their mama while seeing a mama with her child at the carnival. I lost my mom young and it can be really difficult seeing moms with their kids sometimes, so I feel for Cubone here.

Shoutout to this artist for taking the risk on an honestly pretty heartbreaking little story to portray for a kids game. I related to it a lot and it’s one of my favorite cards

Was heavily prepared by recruiter to handle a counteroffer. Never got one.

I was contacted by a recruiter and offered an interview for the same role with a 50% raise at a new employer. I interviewed and got selected.

When I was preparing to leave my existing role (first time quitting as a professional) I spoke to the recruiter for advice. They said to be prepared for a counter offer from the existing employer as a last attempt to keep me.

I gave my 2 week notice, being honest with my manager that I was leaving for the same role at a new employer for a raise (I did not say how much of a raise).

As it got around that I was leaving I had a few people prepare me for the same thing, saying to be ready for a counter offer and asking what I’ll do when I get it.

Truthfully, I don’t think they could have countered at +50%. But as far as I knew, they didn’t know they’d need +50% to keep me so it’s reasonable they would at least throw out an offer for maybe 10% more or something as an attempt.

I never ended up getting a counter offer. Everyone was very kind and wished me luck but there was never any kind of attempt to keep me.

Has anyone else had this kind of experience? I’m not gonna lie, it’s hard not to get in my own head that my existing employer was thinking “HA! Good riddance!” Am I overthinking? Is there a more reasonable explanation? I’ve been channeling these negative thoughts about not getting a counter offer into doing my absolute best at the new job and it’s going well, but I can’t get this off my mind for some reason.

Curious about others’ experiences with counter offers as well

I was hoping to do some research on play promos but haven’t found good resources, does anyone know of a good article that talks about how/when they were distributed and how many?

Any way to disable “Time to relist” or “your item is listed” emails?

I’m in the process of delisting a lot of items and the emails to relist are driving me crazy. They pop up immediately after delisting and have for about an hour after now.

On the same topic, any way to stop the “your item is listed!” emails after listing? The pop ups are very annoying if you’re trying to list a lot at once.

I’ve gone to the email communication tab in settings and none of these options stopped it, even going into “emails” and unchecking everything.

Is there any way to stop these two emails in particular?
