Why does every deadline seem to land at the same time?

It's so frustrating that you get nothing for weeks and then suddenly everything is due within days of each other.

How much weight do you put on confidence vs actual content in answers?

I’ve been going through interview prep and this has been on my mind a lot. When I’m answering questions, I can usually get the content right, but sometimes I’m not as confident in how I say it, especially under pressure. It made me wonder how much interviewers actually weigh confidence compared to the actual substance of the answer. Wanted to know if strong content but slightly hesitant delivery still comes across well, or if confidence ends up carrying more weight?

Do employers care if you’ve had unrelated part time jobs before applying?

I’ve been wondering about this because most of my work experience so far has been pretty unrelated to the apprenticeship roles I’m looking at. I’ve done things like retail, helping customers, working tills, dealing with stock, answering questions all day and handling difficult situations, and I’ve also done shifts where it was more about being on time, working under pressure and just getting on with things. None of it directly links to the field I want to go into, so I’m a bit unsure whether employers actually value that sort of experience or if they mainly care about experience related to the apprenticeship itself.

How disruptive was asbestos removal?

I’ve seen some stories making it sound like an enormous operation, while others say it was sorted fairly quickly by professionals. Curious what the process actually felt like day to day for people who’ve gone through it. Do you shift for some time or what is it like?

Is networking genuinely useful for startups or mostly overrated?

I keep hearing “your network is everything” in startup spaces, but sometimes it feels like people spend more time attending events than building products. Interested whether people here have actually gained meaningful opportunities through networking or not really.

Did anyone here go into social work later in life?

This seems like one of those careers where people often arrive after doing something completely different first. I wanted to understand how many people switched careers, and whether it was a good choice to start late or whether you suggest starting early?

What’s the longest you’ve stayed with EE continuously?

Feels like loads of people constantly switch networks chasing deals now, but I know some people who’ve been with EE since the Orange or T-Mobile days. Curious how loyal people actually are to networks anymore.

Does anyone else feel weirdly productive in libraries compared to literally anywhere else?

I can waste an entire day at home but somehow manage to lock in properly the second I’m in the libraray. Is it same with everyone or just me?

Vodafone has genuinely been the best network experience I’ve had so far

Wann't expecting this huge difference but the speeds and reliability have both been consistently good since switching. Even crowded areas where my old network used to struggle seem completely fine now. I was literally shocked with how good this network is in almost every place. I don't know why people keep mentioning about bad network on this sub.

Is there anywhere left to actually study?

I noticed people are now claiming seats in the University Library with a single highlighter and a half eaten granola bar at 8 AM. I’m not sure if I should risk the trek to the West Hub or just accept my fate in the college buttery.

Between self-assessment, savings allowances, dividends, CGT changes, pension rules, side hustles and online selling thresholds, it feels like ordinary finances are getting more complicated every year. Don't you think the average person can realistically manage it all without professional help anymore?

I’ve started making a bit of extra money on the side recently and it’s got me wondering where the line actually is with declaring it. It’s not loads right now but it’s consistent enough that I don’t want to get caught out later on. Just trying to figure out at what point it stops being casual and becomes something I need to properly report.

I started off trying to stay on top of everything, but the lists add up so quickly that it feels impossible to do it properly alongside everything else. Now I’m starting to wonder if people are actually reading it all or just focusing on certain bits.
