Looking for Laptop, region Belgian, but willing to buy anywhere in EU if shipment costs keep price still lower. 100% Linux compatible, not looking for a gaming PC but preferably 16GB ram minimum and 1TB disk space (or better yet 2x 500GB), Budget ~1000 euro including shipping.

  • Country

Belgium (own country), Netherlands, Germany, France, Luxembourg, all these countries are less than a 2 hours drive away, I travel to those countries frequently, but willing to buy anywhere in EU if shipping costs keep costs lower than local prices

  • Budget

Around 1000 euro / 1150 USD (could be 20% more if there's good benefits in spending more)

  • Are you open to refurbs/used options?

No

  • Screen size

17" minimum, 20" maximum

  • Weight limit

Weight doesn't matter

  • Purpose

General purpose, schoolwork, youtube, facebook games, simple games for grandkids around age 10

  • Form factor

Standard laptop

  • Intended usage

Mostly web browsing, but also lighter games (for kids aged 7-10yo), video playback and streaming to TV, simpler games, no need for powerful GPU, but if possible, a dedicated GPU. Current problem is slow CPU, only 6GB ram (shared with onboard GPU), 500GB storage (at its limits). I'd prefer 16 GB ram and 1TB storage (can be 500GB fast storage for the OS and 500GB slow storage for data usage)

  • Desired battery life

4 hours is plenty, laptop will be mostly plugged in.

  • Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life

Linux compatibility, decent CPU/RAM, dedicated GPU (simple GPU will do)

  • Info/Requirements

AMD GPU is generally more compatible with Linux, but open for suggestions, 60Hz screen is probably fine, but if a slightly better screen is a small price increase, that's alright. At most there will be some light gaming for kids aged 7-10 when they visit grandma.

Open to suggestions and changes, willing to spend a little bit more or less if there's valid reasons for it.

Looking to buy a 100% linux compatible laptop in western/central Europe, where to get the best suggestions on shops or specs? There's many subs, but a lot of USA focused, I want to find a sub that is focused on EU shops.

Need a 100% linux compatible laptop, price range around 1000 euro, region Belgium, but perfectly alright with buying anywhere in EU if the transport costs still keep it lower as buying locally.

Russian Wildberries Hitlist - Update 11.08.2026

Link to the interactive website https://drarroway.github.io/wb-bingo-web/ which works on desktop and mobile.

  • If you hover over the name of the warehouse, it'll show you exact coordinates you can click to see it on a map.
  • If you hover over "confidence", it'll link you to sources that talk about the hits.
  • If you hover over "last strike" date, it'll explain more about how badly it was hit.
  • It shows the distance from Ukraine.
  • It is sorted by footprint of the warehouse.

u/Cool_Leadership_2112 is still working on it, so if there's any flaws you notice, make a friendly suggestion in the comments.

The cost of Ukrainian strikes on Wildberries - Update 02.08.2026

Updated infographic. We don't have information if the final part of the Samara facility was fully manned. In mid 2025 2/3rds of the facility or 128 000 square meters of the total 176 000 were launched. We have 10 000 jobs for mid 2025.

Need help to build a 100% Linux PC for my parents.

Parents are getting really fed up with Windows bloat and their current PC won't work anymore in a couple months due to TPM requirements, which their PC doesn't have. They hate using their Windows PC, and love using my sister's or my Linux PC. I'm not forcing them on Linux, they're asking for it.

Use-case: Basic internet browsing, facebook games, and some extensive excel sheets for bookkeeping, these excel sheets can take over a minute to open currently, some light photo editing.

Budget: 700 euro with an extra 200 euro range. (PC-case not needed, I already have a case)

One fast hard drive for the OS (500GB), a second one that can be slower for data storage(1TB). Losing all data cause a single drive fails would be bad, they do make backups on an external drive, but they don't do it consistently, so they could lose months of data.

Dual channel 2x8GB minimum, please include the price difference for 2x16GB dual channel.

No help needed with peripherals.

No watercooling, but a decent silent air cooler.

Wifi and bluetooth onboard would be nice, but could easily be done with an USB dongle.

Country of purchase: Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg (they visit each of those countries almost every month)

-

PCIe GPU would be nice, nothing fancy, AMD for easier Linux compatibility.
