Just acquired these Tony llama steel toes, and they have a bit of road rash on them.
Merrell were my go-to, but their quality has obviously declined over the years, and now it seems Salomon’s are following suit.
So I paid about $190 for a pair of carbon toe Keens a few months ago, and the heel started separating after minimal use. So I contact Keen, tell them my issue, provide my receipt and photos of the issue, and they contacted me a few days later telling me my warranty was approved.
Kick ass! Right? Well, the voucher is for $140, which I thought was great at first. I navigate to their website only to realize 3/4 of all of their boots/tall hikers are almost $190. Not one of the carbon toes in my size are anywhere near $140. So the excitement starts to wear off. Then I realize they have a preowned section, so I figured it take a look. Bingo! I find a beautiful pair that are normal $195 for only $95. Awesome! I figured I’m good with coming short of the max value since they’re such nice boots. I go to enter the warranty voucher code, and wouldn’t you know it. The code doesn’t work on the preowned selection. I’m over it at this point. What’s the point, even? Why offer a replacement warranty when I can’t even legitimately replace my boots without paying even more money?
Am I being ungrateful? Is this unreasonable of me? I reached back out to Keen this morning, but haven’t received a response. I’m hoping they either increase the limit, or just allow me to use the voucher on the preowned pair that I was genuinely excited about. I guess we’ll see tomorrow.
Has anyone else dealt with this situation? Did you just accept the fact that you have to pay the $50 difference for a new pair of comparable boots?
I’ve started becoming more and more intrigued w/ these HD Suburban 4x4s, and have gotten to the point where I’m almost fanatical. If only they came with solid front axles and a diesel motor. That would be my dream truck.

Used my cheese grater to get the ginger to the consistency I wanted, and finished with dicing it up finely, along with the garlic. Blackened the scallops, and set aside. Sautéed mini sweet peppers with fresh spinach, garlic, and ginger, all at low temp to avoid burning garlic. Once I was happy with texture of veggies/herbs, I added butter, and a bit of milk(I don’t have any cream). Next I added some Parmesan, stirred, then I added the scallops. I’m currently cooking some farfalle pasta, and will be serving the creamy scallop and pepper mixture over the pasta. I’m pretty excitedu.
