Why Shooting in a Real Jungle Could Hurt Ramayana’s VFX Immersion
For a movie this heavily dependent on VFX and CGI, shooting everything in a real jungle can actually create more problems.
Take the 14,000-demon battle—if Lord Rama uses the Vayu Astra, the surrounding trees, vegetation and ground would also have to react to the impact.
How would they show the aftermath in a real jungle? They obviously can't just damage or cut down trees for a scene.
That's why a controlled environment makes more sense. It gives the VFX team complete freedom to create the environment and its destruction without limitations. And if they mix real jungle footage with CGI environments, differences in lighting, textures, atmosphere, etc. can become noticeable and hurt immersion.
Even Avatar relied heavily on controlled environments instead of simply filming everything in a real jungle. So IMO, there's a reason the makers chose this approach. Trust the process.
