I've got Stable running with a backported kernel, unattended upgrades setup, and use flatpaks for most things besides my IDE and a couple other things. Anything else I should be doing to have a super stable workstation?
Basically the title. Anything else I should know about? Thanks!
Icon in the panel for when updates are available?
Looking for an extension to let me know when updates are available, ideally for system packages, flatpaks, and all that.
Thanks!
Anyway to sync proton mail/calendar without paying for mail services?
I currently pay for the vpn but don't really need more mail or drive space or anything like that.
But paying for mail services seems to be the only way to be able to sync with gnome calendar or evolution/thunderbird.
Any other way I can do this?
Thanks!
Small (around 10") 2-in-1 that can run Gnome?
Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with ones that I should check out or avoid?
Thanks!
Distro Rec for Acer Nitro 5 Currently Running Mint Cinnamon but Having Issues
Hi all,
I installed linux mint cinnamon for my wife on her acer nitro 5 since she doesn't want to make the switch to windows 11.
For reference, its got an intel ax200 wifi card and dual graphics (igpu is amd, dgpu is nvidia).
However, over the past 4 months the wifi will just randomly stop working which will require a reboot to fix. I've tried EVERYTHING. Like anything from the forums and even went on discords to ask but to no avail.
Anyways, I'm pretty done trying things and am looking to just switch to a distro with a newer kernel or more modern DE that handles these things differently in hopes that it just solves the problem.
My first thought was Fedora Cinnamon spin or KDE spin. But idk. They all work at first, it's the long term usage that shows when problems arise. Sticking to Cinnamon would be great if possible since she is used to it now but I think KDE could also work if needed. Gnome is basically a no go. I use it on my laptop and she's tried it and hates it lol
Thanks!
Anyway to get multiple cursors working in gnome builder?
I found a youtube video showing it was possible that was dated 2017 so maybe it was removed or something?
Anyone know anymore about this?
Thanks!
Behold my abomination!
I love the gnome workflow/overview, kde's breeze icons and themes, and xfce's tools so I made this and I love it
So I'm using xfce's terminal, file manager (thunar), task manager, image viewer (ristretto), pdf viewer (atril), and bulk renaming tool. They're just so fast and simple I love it!
gnome is my favorite desktop to use but I've always hated the adwaita icons and nautilus. So, yeah, what do y'all think? Am I a blasphemer? Am I missing something?

Setting up presettings/profiles for my monitors?
Hi, I have a 13 inch laptop that required that I set DPI to 120 and display scale to 1.25x in order to be comfortable for long work sessions when I'm out, which is pretty frequently.
However, at home, where I use an ultrawide monitor I set dpi to 112 and scaling back down to 1x.
Is there a way to setup profiles for these 2 modes so that I don't have to keep changing them back and forth every time I switch stations?
I never use both at the same time, so I don't need that, just one or the other.
Thanks!
