What outcomes are considered likely in long term disappearances?

My brother disappeared nearly 6/7 years ago in the UK, and I still think about the uncertainty around cases like this.

I don’t want to share identifying details because it’s still technically an open investigation, but he was a very young adult who had become increasingly mistrustful and isolated before disappearing far from home.

There were no confirmed sightings afterwards, no financial trail that we know of, no documentation trail, and very little clarity overall.

I know nobody online can know an individual situation for certain, but I’m interested in hearing from people familiar with missing persons cases, homelessness, mental illness, neurodivergence, exploitation, or long term disappearances about what outcomes are generally considered most likely over time.

I’m not expecting anyone to “solve” anything. I’m genuinely okay with blunt or realistic perspectives, btw, or even just people speculating freely. I think after years of uncertainty, I’m more interested in hearing different, honest opinions rather than reassurance.

I personally think it’s just SO rude to be on your phone in a social setting but others do not feel the same way and think you must just have nobody messaging you or something 🤷‍♀️ I’m in my late 20s for context.

I think it just removes the whole point of “socialising with people” if you can’t go an hour without it. I love people who say oh sorry I just have to text this person because of this… then they’re present again.

Thoughts?

What are your thoughts?

I’ve been on medication for the last 2-3 years and it has helped me finish a degree (1 year left!) and really learn how to solidify new techniques/approaches into my daily life to make it more manageable.

Recently I’ve been weaning myself off them, mainly because I was sick but also because I felt very burnt out. I’ve been off them now for a few days and I just feel so much more like myself! The things I’ve solidified into my life have become habit enough for me to still get by but I also have my personality back!

I literally have been freaking out about having social anxiety for months and a day or 2 without the meds made me realise I’d just been overthinking all my thoughts and sometimes impulsiveness is needed to maintain a conversation lol

TLDR: What are your thoughts on meds vs no meds for ADHD (combined)?

I know some people can’t function without them and they do literally save lives which I appreciate and have experienced but what about the life of it all and how magic can happen in the impulse and creativity that some meds suppress, but is the price worth it?

Has anyone done it? What’s your experience?

I’m currently on Elvanse 30mg and I have a booster in the afternoons too, it’s been really helping me focus the last 2 years when it comes to my diploma and getting through work. However I’ve noticed it’s taken away my personality, my spark and my capability to spontaneously contribute to a conversation in a timely manner lol plus I’m still always fucking late!

I’m thinking of coming off in the Summer when I don’t have as much responsibilities to test it out. But long term I’m thinking of maybe just using it part time and I wanted to hear others experiences !
