We are running a closed playtest of a gothic horror escape room on Steam. Will be very glad if you join

Dark Trip is a gothic horror escape room where you use wicked biomachinery, strange art and your own hallucinations to solve the mystery of an eerie crime.

Explore unsettling locations, inspect occult machines and bizarre laboratory devices, uncover hidden clues through altered visions, and piece together a story that blurs the line between reality and nightmare.

- Occult Art. Strange Machines. Hidden Clues. Every room is filled with disturbing paintings, cryptic symbols, mysterious devices and hidden mechanisms. Search every corner, connect seemingly unrelated details, and uncover the secrets left behind by those who came before you.
- See What the Next Room Is Hiding. Progress through a series of interconnected escape rooms, each with its own theme, story fragments, puzzles and discoveries. From abandoned laboratories to impossible places that should not exist, every new location reveals another piece of the mystery.
- Reveal the Hidden Layer. Not everything is visible at first glance. Use occult medicine to uncover hidden objects, invisible messages and secret interactions concealed beneath the surface of reality.
- Experience Mystical Visions. The world of Dark Trip is shaped by strange rituals, occult practices and altered states of consciousness. Witness disturbing visions, encounter impossible phenomena and explore locations where reality itself appears unstable.
- Use Hallucinations to Find Missing Evidence. In Dark Trip, hallucinations are not merely visual effects — they are an essential investigative tool. Consuming mysterious substances may reveal hidden clues, expose concealed mechanisms and help you discover evidence that cannot be found by ordinary means.
- Play Flat or VR. Dark Trip supports both traditional desktop play and virtual reality. Experience the game as a classic first-person adventure on your monitor or immerse yourself fully in its unsettling world through SteamVR.

P.S. The game is also available via Early Access on Meta.

We have just released a new update that adds a hallucinatory version of the "Jail on Rails" level

While the previous update introduced Room 17 to the game, this update expands it with hallucinatory versions of its puzzles, environment, and additional clues waiting to be discovered.

The moving train compartment housing the machine that interacts with the Mediums' energy was already terrifying. But once you begin to perceive it through an altered state of consciousness, its hidden nature and sinister mechanisms reveal themselves.

Owners of Early Access on Meta can download the update now.

Any indie VR puzzle / escape room / adventure devs to join our special community giveaway this August?

We're organizing The VR Puzzle Giveaway for August 2026.

The idea came from a pretty simple observation: VR puzzle and escape room players usually don't stop after finishing one game—they immediately start looking for the next one. Instead of all of us trying to reach those players separately, why not work together?

The giveaway is pretty straightforward:

- every participating developer contributes a few game keys;
- all games are featured on a single landing page;
- players enter one giveaway for a chance to win games from multiple indie studios;
- everyone cross-promotes the event, so all participating games get extra exposure.

Each of us throw in some keys, pool the reach, and give the community a stack of great VR puzzle games to win in one place. More devs = more prizes = more eyes on everyone’s games.

More information is available here:
https://vasil4n.com/puzzle_giveaway/

Right now we are looking for other indie developers making games like Escape Rooms, Puzzle Adventures, Mystery / Detective games, Story-driven Adventure games and basically anything that attracts the same kind of VR players.

The goal is to help players discover more great VR puzzle experiences while giving small studios a chance to reach a larger audience together.

If you’ve made a VR puzzle, escape room, or brain-teaser title and want in, drop a comment (or DM me). Happy to share more info for anyone interested!

I am about to update the capsule art and the short description for my game. Will it work better?

We started more than a year ago with Early Access on Meta. We wanted to use a controversial approach of marketing the game as a kinda simulation of psychedelic effects in VR that takes place in a BDSM themed setting of an escape room game.

Nowadays when moving closer to the release of a Steam Demo we found out that the kind of position/targeting we use for Dark Trip gives us a lot of problems on social media with reach restrictions and strike risks - thus many influencers are afraid of covering the game in their reels.

So we changed the approach and are now shifting to more conventional positioning and more emphasis on features that are loved by puzzles / adventure game players.

Do you think it will help us get a wider audience?

Meta Ads for Meta Store App: Not able to select “Maximize value of conversions” as a Performance goal and then to set in App Purchases as target

  1. I am trying to set up an Ads Set for a free to play Meta Quest game with in App Purchases. In the App Promotion section I chose:

- Mobile app store: Meta Quest App Store

- App name: [App Name] (the app has been added to my Meta Ads account via MetaStore API)

  1. With these options selected I am expected to be able to select “Maximize value of conversions” as a Performance goal and then expected to set in App Purchases as target.

  2. But the system doesn’t allow me to to select “Maximize value of conversions”:

  3. The system tell me: “Ad accounts owned by businesses new to Meta products can select value as the performance goal for their ads after several weeks of following our policies. If you don't want to wait, verify your business.”

  4. I have already got the business verification a week ago.

  5. But even with the complete verification I can not select “Maximize value of conversions” as a Performance goal and then cannot set in App Purchases as target.

Please help me to resolve this issue if you have ever worked with Meta Store apps.

Dark Trip: Compartment of Souls Update. Last Friday during UploadVR Showcase we released Room 15 of our gothic horror escape room where you use wicked biomachinery, strange art and your own hallucinations to solve the mystery of an eerie crime.

There are a handful of VR showcases that the entire industry pays attention to. One of the biggest among them is UploadVR Showcase, which takes place twice a year. And last week Dark Trip finally was featured in its Summer Showcase lineup with the trailer of the just released update that had added Room 15 into the Meta’s Early Access version of the game.

We realized how important showcases are for VR game developers  back in early 2025. Since then, we've been regularly submitting our projects to VR presentations, festivals, and industry events. Last winter, we submitted both Dark Trip and Vortex 9 VR to UploadVR Showcase. However, both applications were rejected at the final stage of the selection process.

After that, we had the opportunity to speak with UploadVR's Director of Partnerships and tell her more about Dark Trip, our approach to game development, and the feedback we have received from players who had already tried the game. It seems that conversation helped the editorial team take another look at the project. Despite the project's unusual and controversial themes, the showcase team decided it deserved a closer examination. And we are happy to say, the testers were impressed.

When preparing our submission this time, we followed the editorial team's recommendations and focused the new trailer on the game's adventure elements, puzzles, and atmosphere, without highlighting the more controversial aspects of Dark Trip like psychedelics and mature themes.

As a result, Dark Trip has been selected for the official lineup of the Summer UploadVR Showcase. Today's broadcast features the premiere of our brand-new trailer and a major announcement related to the game that is available in Early Access on Meta and as a Closed Playtest on Steam.

Room 15 introduces a brand-new environment, new puzzles, additional story revelations, and another piece of the larger Dark Trip narrative that has been unfolding throughout Early Access. This time, you will find yourself inside a moving railway carriage once used to transport Mediums between worlds. Behind the compartment doors lie forgotten memories, restless souls, and puzzles woven into the very nature of the journey itself. As the train races through the darkness, you will have to uncover its secrets and understand the purpose of those trapped aboard.

After more than a year in Early Access on Meta, our Hellraiser inspired Dark Trip has got conventional flat controls and has landed on Steam with the closed playtest

We have finally started the Closed Playtest of our Psychedelic Horror Escape Room!  The Steam version of the game:
- features newly designed flat controls that work in an unique way for Adventure Games;
- supports SteamVR as well;
- includes first 7 rooms of the game carefully redesigned and refined for desktop experience, as well as updated Laboratory mode and Quality of Life improvements;

This is still an early version of the game’ flat mode, and your feedback will help us understand what works, what feels unclear, and what needs more polish.

In Dark Trip, you take on the role of an investigator searching for a missing woman. You’ll explore creepy rooms, see strange things, take pills to solve puzzles, rely on hallucinations to investigate an eerie crime, and perform wicked experiments inside a mysterious laboratory.

Trying to promote a premium Meta Store game using Facebook Ads: the system created the link, put it into the Ad and then flagged it as a violation of its own rules! WTF?!

I am trying to promote a premium Meta Store game using Facebook Ads:

  1. We connect Facebook Ads and Meta Store Developer Account using API - the token is generated in Meta Store Account
  2. When I create a campaign to promote new installs of ECO - facebook ads system itself generate the link that is used in Ads (not me)
  3. Some time after the campaign has started - Facebook Ads finds that the link involves meta / facebook domain and flags this Ad as the one that violates the policy that forbids ads to use links with meta / facebook websites

The Ad is turned off and I cannot fix it.

I am done...

This is what a player sees in the train driver’s cabin when his character is sober, and when the hero is hallucinating after eating a pill. The train becomes a living organism. Is it disgusting enough?

Dark Trip is a psychedelic escape room where players eat pills to solve puzzles and rely on their hallucinations to investigate an eerie crime. You can join Early Access on Meta or wishlist the game on Steam.

Over the past few months, we’ve been doing updates focused on fixing critical bugs, but due to our work on other projects, we weren’t able to return to full production on Dark Trip. Now we’re back on track!

In Room 14, players find themselves inside a steam locomotive’s cab, where they must get the train moving. The twist is that, in the game’s psychedelic atmosphere, controlling the train involves a set of bizarre and unconventional mechanisms.

This is the first version of Room 14, and we’ll continue improving and polishing it over the coming weeks. At the moment, the pills system and clue collection are not yet functional. However, the core gameplay — packed with crazy puzzles and mind-bending mechanics — is already here and waiting for players.
