Why is numista search so bad?
I legit gave up on using it I just write my query in google search and append "numista", and I always get exactly what I want.

Lol these coins are so funny. So bad, they look fake. Like 90s graphics when they first invented 3d models and everything was muddy and murky.
I like sharp coins and this bothers me. Weak stamping, unsharp designs.. how can I tell the difference between UNC and XF? Have to measure the thickness lol? The letters look worn already directly from the mint. Well, I look for scratches on the parts with nothing.
I had the amazing idea to train my abs while doing pullups, but it's impossible

Looks like someone smuggled it in his butt during 'Nam
absolutely 0 shine. Maybe a bit through the murkynness, but not really
If this is a top tier max level coin, then I don't know what to tell you guys. I get surprised every day anew how bad the scale is.
FR, I have a '64 Kennedy and it's not shiny in the same way. Sold as "UNC". Why is it not shinyyyy???? Did denver make a bad batch or something? Put some extra copper inside? Put some less pure silver? Like, what is it?

Designs are wild. and wildly different
Silver center cent (1792) - Ugly witch. What is that golden earring in the middle?
Chain cent (1793) - Witch with plastic surgery and lions mane. The front has chains instead of laurels. Lame
Wreath cent (1793)- Better looking witch. Front has a little heart awww
Half disme (1792) - This one is amazing. And by amazing I mean cursed. Far the ugliest most wretched cursed witch so far. Looking left instead of right (ominous). The other side has an ugly distorted vulture chick or whatever. Cursed coin.
Half dime (1794–95) - Ok on this one the chick actually looks fine. The vulture is ugly and has an eyebrow lol.
Half dollar (1794–95) - Again a step back in woman design. The vulture is now a duck or something. A goose.
Dollar (1794–95) - Same design as half, but the goose actually has some sharper features so it looks kinda like an eagle.
Funny thing. There is nothing written on the last 3. You have to basically have a scale and a caliper measuring tool to figure out if it's a dime, a half-dollar, or a dollar.
Well, it was interesting researching this.
Not in my top list of wanted coins. I'm into aesthetic and cool ones.

His other coins look like shit too. We need to find out what bros problem is and how is he so bad.
What would you price a random coin (let's ignore numismatic collector's value), based on its silver contents?
Take a .900. Will you price it at 90% per gram of what silver is?
What about a .400? Will you price it at 40% per gram of what silver is? Or will there be a penalty for having such lowe silver.
Can you melt the coins and extract just the silver?
Otherwise, puely logically, the .900 will always be worth more because you can make other .900s from it, but also .400. And you can't make a .900 from a .400 raw material?
Right?
This is assuming you can't extract pure silver. If you can, then they should all be silver value or close to.
Right?
I just learned about photo grading yesterday
https://www.pcgs.com/photograde/#/Walker/Grades
You can even see the face and the hair and stuff and the flag and every leaf on the eagle. I would grade this XF at the very least, and probably AU.
How about you? What would you grade it?
All the websites I see have descriptions. I don't want a description. I want a website that shows a photo of the same coin in each grading level, and the differences.
Also the luster thingie looks interesting, so gotta watch out for that.
So, I've been simping for this bitch for a while and she was kinda hot and cold, sometimes sending me pics, other times refusing to. sometimes chatty, other times short one-liners. But we've been basically talking every day.
So after the last few attempts to get some pics to goon to, and then being too busy to talk for a few day, I'm basically free of her spell and totally over it.
But suddenly now she wants to talk all the time and flirts a lot and basically sends me unsolicited pics.
But I'm over it.
I don't want to play games.
Fuck that shit.
I'm gonna channel my autism towards something productive.
Should I ghost her or only talk to her when I'm bored like she obviously did with me?

I have heard this a lot. In the videos of a guy cleaning coins everyone says they are ruined.
Personally, I like my coins shiny and free of cooties of whoever smuggled them in their ass during some war.
I'm glad I ordered some of those coin hard plastic holders so I don't have to touch them directly, because I'm a germaphobe.
So, what's the idea behind not cleaning coins? Can't you even just give them a light wipe?
Uhhhhh. How do I phrase it.
You know how silver is not tax-free, so you pay like a 30% premium by default when buying it compared to melt value?
Well, the hope is that some day, as the prices of silver goes up, you will get past that point, and everything else is profit?
Well, uhh. Not really. If you bought a 1oz coin for ... what can you even compare it to... 10% of your paycheck (assuming ceteris paribus, that your pay is always stable and always rises compared to inflation (impossible assumption)) in some year.
And then you try to sell it in 20 years. I mean, the coin is probably just gonna keep up with inflation and you will be able to buy the equivalent of 10% of your paycheck MINUS THE 30% . So my theory is that you never get even. That silver just follows inflation at best, and maybe there are a few market trends and hicckups, but we can't depend on that for our model. Only other way a coin could have more than melt worth is if it's some rare year and there are buyers.
So you are kinda paying a premium because you are too poor to buy gold, and you will averagely have the same purchase value in 20 years minus the premium (that is also compounded.)
I dunno.. When you think about it and account for constant and relentless inflation, you are at best hedging against hyperinflation or something since precious metals constantly rise during the years. as they are a reserve currency or whatever.
So what is a good move? Buy gold? To preserve as much of value as you can, with good-enough liquidity - ability to trade for money/goods.

PS:
I can't find this coin (american eagle liberty 1oz silver 13 stars) on numista. A guy showed me one that has the sides upside down so we are trying to figure out if this is rare or normal.
Tnx!
PPS:
Forgot to ask how closely do unpure coins like .900, .625 etc... follow melt value trends. Like, can you expect them to follow the prices of the .999, or is there a penalty usually? Does the silver even make a difference in the unpure coins or is their value determined by the rarity? I mean, silver content definitely plays a role, but how much?
Hey!
I want to get some cases for my coins, but I don't know which to choose.
Like, do you have to watch out for the type of plastic or the type of sponge?
I like the sponge ones best. Maybe even the rectangular one where I can put a piece of paper inside with data about the coin.
Someone told me that the paper ones are good and you can write on them directly, but I don't know...
The pure plastic ones seem like they need a sponge. Or, like, do you buy exact sizes? Are coin sizes standardized?
Like, I don't have enough coins to differentiate the expensive and cheap ones. I feel like cheap ones would go into the paper holders. Also, it's kinda weird that some people staple the edges. Like, don't staples rust and stuff? There are also paper holders with adhesive, but I dunno...
For now, my top picks are a few rectangular ones, and a few round ones with sponges. But they look fancy and take a lot of space. Like, do I only put expensive coins in there? But I don't have many anyway.
Also, maybe I want a few silver 1 oz coins to look at them, so the size would have to be 40mm ish. What should I do?
I know I don't want an album though since I have random coins, not a collection. And most are silver or silver based if that matters.
Like literally today I saw that 1964 Kennedy is the only one with 90% silver. Now I have to go to my grampas wooden box to see what year it is.
Also, I had the great idea of having a plastic ring container to be able to appreciate the coin, BUT also the container having a top part where I can actually write why the coin is special. Like, a special mint or a special year. So the executors of my estate won't just undervalue it.
Anyway, interesting hobby. I had some money to throw away so bought some cool silver-content historical coins that I found cool-looking. I understand that even 90% silver is low resell value, but coins are cool, and 999% pure silver ones are annoying because the edge is too sharp so you can't flip em or appreciate them. And there are so many cool historical coins. I enjoy the american ones because they have chicks and eagles instead of boring grampas. I already gave up on collections because there are always some of those ultra rare ones like the san marino 2€ coin. Like what is even the point of collecting if you can't get the whole collection. So I just get random ones I think are cool.
