Exploring IEM's for playing live and silent band practice

My teenage sons band is looking into IEM's and need some advice as to what gear is required.

They have guitar 1, guitar 2, bass and drums. Guitar 1 and 2 share the vocals.

They play mainly Indie music.

So far, we have looked at the XTUGA IEM1200 system with 4 body packs.

We already have a Peavey PV8 mixer and SM58 microphones.

Couple of questions:

  1. I'm assuming you come out of the mixer and into the XTUGA. How do you ensure that everyone is happy and can hear themselves if there is only one output mix?

  2. Is this all that is required to get going?

Any guidance/diagrams would be greatly appreciated - Thanks

For age verification, why can't the UK government just issue us with an ID number based upon our electoral register status?

This ID number would be unique to us and the social media companies would just verify this with our government. The social media companies would then know nothing about us apart from the ID number.

How do weather forecasters decide which town/cities to show?

There is a difference between which towns/cities are shown. In this example, I have shown the BBC and GBNews channels.

Grout cleaning tools

Are these tools still the best option for cleaning bathroom tile grout or has something better come along since I last did this in 2015?

Was hoping that modern technology had come up with an easier method.

4 letter .co.uk

I have a 4 letter .co.uk domain name that I no longer use. It has only 2 letters, used twice e.g like coco or dodo

Wondered what it was worth. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Bass Cab into a microphone

I've used small speakers as microphones in the past, with some success.

I have an old bass cab lying around which has 4no10 inch speakers and a horn.

What would happen if I turned this into a microphone? Would a black hole open in the universe?

Bitwig 6.0.6 crash test dummy

Upgraded my laptop to a desktop pc and proper graphics card because I was stuck using an earlier version 5.1.9

Now able to "use" 6.0.6. (as far as my license goes" However, getting some crashes when I click the keyboard top right to view my midi settings. Bitwig just closes. Midi seems delayed when I press the keys. Sometimes notes register and sometimes they don't.

Never had this problem with the same midi keyboard previously.

What's the best course of action?

Midi controller resolution or curve

When using an external controller with Bitwig and assigning a knob to control a function, the numbers jump some 300 units.

Example using TDR Nova

Assign LP frequency to a midi controller and turn the midi knob. The frequency jumps 300 hz. If I try the same with my mouse I can get 100 hz movements.

I've tried using a macro knob to control it and it still jumps 300 hz.

Is this a TDR Nova, Midi controller or Bitwig issue and how is it resolved?

Korg padKontrol

Just found my old Korg padKontrol unit in the loft and plugged it in to Bitwig and within seconds it's up and running. Nice one Bitwig. Powered over USB.

Is there a way of changing the pad to make it less jumpy I.e. a bit smoother through some sort of velocity curve or other magic?

TV as a studio monitor and distance

I've been offered a 50 inch TV and was thinking of using it in my home studio space.
I understand that I'll have to move my gear back between 4.2 to 6.25 feet for best viewing.
PC, midi keyboard and desk would be moved back.

HMDI from PC to TV
USB cable from midi keyboard to PC
USB cable from PC keyboard to PC
USB cable from PC mouse to PC
Extension of headphone cable to audio interface

Would rather that cables were not strewn across the floor in front of the TV.
What is the best way to manage cables in this type of scenario?

Cloned Drive to desktop machine slow?

I have cloned a laptop hard drive and then put this newly cloned hard drive into a desktop pc.
The desktop pc boots fine and I can access all of the files etc
However, the desktop pc seems really slow.
Is there anything I need to delete from the old laptop settings on this hard drive?

USB wiring around room

I want to connect a PC to a USB outlet on the wall and over the other side of a long room have a USB outlet that allows me to connect a USB device or drive. Basically, hoping to eliminate cables running across the floor. The cables would transfer data over USB.

I was assuming, I could buy wall sockets like Lan cable connectors but for USB. However, I can't seem to find anything.

Google keeps showing USB power sockets, which are obviously the wrong thing.

Is the only option to use ethernet cable and wall boxes and cables and make up my own ethernet to USB adapters?

Edit: The correct search for Google was USB keystone jack.
Consider this question answered and thanks to all those that posted.
