Apartment had painted over previous door frame swelling/rot before we moved in, lived here less than 3 months and it's peeling off

Every door is like this as well as most of the trimming. Place was supposed to be renovated and considered a new unit. Now it's coming off in chunks it looks like plywood and it's damp to touch. How can they fix this? Considering every door is like this will it slowly happen to each door? Is it considered a health risk or cosmetic? I'm mostly worried about my autistic son eating it because he has pica.

Posted about lvl 3 son eloping, I wanted to follow up to say CPS was incredibly kind and their intentions were supportive.

Above was my previous post

First, I want to say that obviously people's experiences with CPS vary and it's probably dependent on the staff wherever you're located in the states. But overall, my experience was better than expected. Of course, I was nervous because of how they're portrayed in the media and horror stories that we've heard, and just simply the power they can have.

My experience was with a kind and gentle social worker who has been doing this for a long time. When they receive a report of elopement and autism and it's a first time report, the most common intention of CPS is usually alternative response, this is to see what changes you've made if any, and to see if you may need to be connected to support. Obviously it may vary based on each situation.

In a nonemergency, they have five days to follow up. Follow up, starts with a call from the department of human resources. I missed my first call and when I called back I left a message and then I called the next morning and we connected but it was the fifth day so we did need to see each other, however, he did offer for us to come into his office.

After talking to him for a little while, I actually felt comfortable with him stopping by. He said the visit would probably be less than 15 minutes, and it was! It's just to make sure that My Son is OK and that I'm OK.

Because I had a chance to discuss things with him before he came. It did help, a bit of my nervousness. I was mostly nervous because we moved here about eight weeks ago and because I am a sole caretaker of two kids with special needs and we don't have much support. I am only about 70% done unpacking and it's kind of been put on hold until probably My Son's go back to school.

All of my stuff is in a corner of space that I would love to use for something else, but it is safe. I have all the heavy things against the wall and then I have sort of the bags of clothes and the soft items in front of those everything is secure and not at the risk of falling. However, if something did fall. It would be soft.

My kitchen is a little cluttered because it's a very neurodivergent kitchen, but it's also clean and functional. I try to keep my sink empty. I always keep the stove clear and have some space to prep food and a space on the table for my kids to eat dinner. I also always have fruits and veggies on the table, but it wasn't as a prop it's just I literally always do that. It reminds me to eat things like avocados, potatoes and onions before they go bad and the fruit my youngest just loves grabbing and eating all the time.

My bathrooms are clean one is pretty barren and that's the one that the boys use. I have to keep it minimal because that's what they prefer. My bathroom looks like a cluttered woman's bathroom with products everywhere and it has a little corner that's sort of storage and like a towel chest it's very small so it's got a lot of stuff in it for the size but it's still functional and clean.

My room is what I was most worried about because I am what they call furniture broke at the time. I have most of our linens and clothing in bags against the wall, but there's some sort of plastic furniture that makes the things we need accessible. It's just I don't have a place for the rest at the moment. My Son's room looked like a typical boys room. It was kind of messy with some stuff on the floor, but also had everything he needed and lots of toys and entertainment. My autistic son sleeps with me. He has his own bed, but our beds are next to each other so he has the option to sleep with me if he wants it also just allows him to have some independence while we still maintain the safety of cosleeping.

Anyway, I had some reason to be anxious because of the fact that I'm not unpacked it looks a little like hoard but it's also in boxes and labeled. It's just I feel like a lot of people would be done unpacking by now and I guess I'm embarrassed that my situation makes it that I really can't get to it.

I was offered two things that was really kind although I was warned that they have a budget and there's a chance that it won't go through because they may have ran out of funds for the year. The two things I was offered was a storage unit just so I can have the stuff out of the way until I am able to go through it when the kids are back at school and then the other thing I was offered was a dresser for our room. Both of those things surprised me! They would be very helpful.

They're gonna look into child friendly respite care, but I was told it's limited. They're also gonna look into in-home ABA we're on the waiting list for pretty much all the services in Maryland and basically they just said they'll see what they can do and they definitely see we have the need for it, but the demands outweigh the need at the moment. They are disappointed in the lack of resources as much as I am.

I already know services are limited and hard to come by but the main thing I hoped for was grace and understanding based on the fact that Support is so limited and that we're truly doing the best we can.

The cps worker definitely understood and gave us grace. I could tell that they had the best interest of children in mind and do this because they love children, but the hardest part of the job is convincing people of that because of the perception people have of CPS.

If you're ever in the situation, my advice to you would be to show you're competent, but be realistic about your situation. Ask for understanding and tell them what you're nervous about. If they have to come for a home visit, it's gonna be in your best interest to be welcoming as it could escalate to investigation if you refuse to be compliant or show hostility.

The outcome we had after the visit is called alternative response and supportive services.

Anyway, I don't know who this could help, but I just thought I should share that if you're truly doing the best you can, you'll be ok!

My level 3 son, age 7, eloped today, he was at our apartment lobby with 5 police officers, a maintenance staff remembered who he was, where he lived, and came to get me

We have locks like two inches from the top of the door and he basically stacked up toy bins to unchain. He was up til 4am the night before so I was still sleeping.

I'm so lucky someone recognized him, and even remembered where we live!

He was found in the middle of a semi busy road by a family they brought him

To the office. They got him doughnuts gave him toys. He actually had a blast which is concerning in a way. The police officers were kind, but they have to report to Cps.

I'm wondering, to other parents this may have happened to, what happens next? Does cps help get us more support? My house is still not unpacked from moving in April but it's accessible and clean and functional just with stuff in boxes and bags in corners. I don't even know if they'll come here but would I get in trouble for unboxed clutter? The reason it's not unpacked is because I need help! I can't do anything without someone watching him.

The important stuff is all unpacked and out as well as 1000's of his toys he endlessly dumps and sorts and repeat cycle.

It's mostly clothes and stuff I have no furniture for. Furniture poor I guess, anyway... this has been terrifying af! I need a tag for him or more locks or alarms at the door that can wake me!!!

He was fully clothed but bare foot. His diaper was full as it is in morning but not excessive or leaking. He was clean and unharmed.

Qulipta has been a life saver I respond well to 10mg, now my insurance won't cover it and I'm afraid of injections...

Just got a letter from my insurance that they will no longer cover qulipta.

I am devastated! With just 10mg dose I've gone from 5 migraines weekly down to 1-2x some weeks I've even been spared! I have zero side effects and I'm on a lot of other medications and it's caused no interactions. It's made my ibs better too!

I'm allergic to a ton of stuff so it's been a godsend with how well it works for me with no issues.

So I have a pretty intense fear of injections. I get a little psychosomatic about them and I can get my blood drawn fine but it's something about something going into my body that will affect me long-term. I like just the anxiety around that is overwhelming for me and they gave me a list of suggestions and they're all injections..

I'm allergic to NSAIDs ibuprofen Tylenol aspirin, allergic to wheat, sulfa drugs, toperimate and it's cousin that start with a z both are sulfa derived and they triggered my allergies as well. I can't do beta blockers because I have low blood pressure and I have asthma and it kind of works against my inhaler although I've tried some before they make my blood pressure too low.

Anyway, I'm really sad and scared about the change. It's going to have on the quality quality of my life. I'll try to get an appeal, but I've never won an appeal against my insurance and my doctors have tried many times.

I do have some 30 Qulipta that I can break up and I guess get possibly 90 days out of. I guess I'm hoping that I can somehow make it on the stack that I have until they decide to cover it again or a generic comes around but I probably only have a couple months worth left. I'm trying to get an early bottle covered before they cut off the medicine.

What has your experiences been with the injections? If you've been successful with Qulipta, Does anything truly match the success of Qulipta?

Holy cow you guys are insanely talented! I'm just experimental but I need some advice as to how to maintain contrast, how to set/ how to wash

Made this for my son but worried about it turning gray and black rather than this high contrast checkered look he asked for!

Any Advice on setting and washing?

PS & thank you! This sub has been really inspiring. I'm obsessed with the bleach tie-dye process I've seen you guys do with like the dry powder color and the ice. Weirdly a black shirt bleached turns into my most favorite color, mustard yellow gold.

Early 2000s Clinique almost lipstick fall release in black raspberry

I found one of my favorite limited almost lipstick colors by Clinique, crazy it's 20 years old or older lol

I had black raspberry, black raisin and one other that was more burgundy and the name eludes me! It's possible I'll find the raisin one in an old coach purse as I last wore it in 2017!

Just wanted to share as there's so much forgotten makeup and some manages to stick around through the purges ❤️

Zuzu city

It's interesting that Zuzu city makes me feel uneasy. I have explored a little bit, but not nearly as much as other places because of this. I only get the one festival event every year and I think something is wrong with my bus stop cause I pretty much don't have the option to go to multiple places. I've heard that there's like a mall in Zuzu city and stuff. How can I make Zuzu city expansion more interesting to me? I know their secrets awaiting in different locations. I haven't discovered yet. I did buy an apartment there, but I havent decorated it or anything and I hardly stay there since like in the game my husband is Sebastian and weirdly I like going back to him to gift him daily lol I know it's just a game but maybe the repetition is part of the fun for me. Sebastian would love to go to zuzu city, right? However, I don't think there's any sort of mod that will allow him to stay there with me or explore the city. If there is let me know!

Can we share the real low down on apartments/duplexes for rent in harford county? (Online Reviews seem curated/inflated)

I lived at belcove place for 4 years (previously & when I moved in it was called country village but Sage ventures purchased it and renamed it belcove place)

Pros-

-friendly neighbors for the most part

-good school district

-outdoor lobby is a nice touch

-it's quiet and sound doesn't travel between units, everyone is respectful of quiet hours

-it's pet friendly

Cons-

-maintenance prefers bandaid repairs

-rude office staff

-sewage smells from p-traps, old pipes, water regurgitation from neighbors comes through in your apartment

-pesticides are not optional (had serious reaction)

-pests are still an issue such as mice, birds nesting in vents, even bats invading apartments was somehow normalized

-maintenance is miserable but nice enough however certain staff members quality of work reflects the feelings they may have towards job (ie-crooked installations, unfinished jobs, mess left behind, not following entry requests set by tenant)

-lawn care is constant but somehow they still have unfinished piles of dirt and caution tape all over the place.

-sometimes straight up ignore maintenance requests

-frequent water turn off that effects multiple buildings due to having 3 water main valves for over 300 units, they haven't updated water shut off to be individualized per building so it's like weekly shut offs.

-lots of geese poop and pet poop that hasn't been picked up by owners

-one bus stop for students is a hike for further units

-RATIO BILLING is both unfair and ridiculous! Don't try to cut costs by reducing running ac or heat less because you can't control how others are using it, just get comfortable because you'll be paying a lot anyways. Water is insanely pricey and doesn't seem to add up, it seems like they we are paying for pool filling up and lawn care and leaks that have nothing to personally do with us.

-dated ac units are loud and sound like planes taking off, hard to enjoy balconies because of the noise

-renovations weren't functional enough to raise costs and are just generic buzz word upgrades to appear more luxurious but don't actually improve quality of life and just cost more

I could go on.... I moved to a new apartment and the reviews seem so fluffy but I haven't been here long enough to pro/con new unit yet. I'm hoping some of your comments will shed more accurate light on what different apartment complexes are really like! Thank you in advance for contributing!

Orchid vs Vanicream moisturizer thorough comparison and review (Vanicream has been my long time hg staple)

So I honestly love the orchid moisturizer! I have highly reactive rosacea & hive prone combination skin. I don't break out too much anymore but did when I was younger. If you are breakout prone and plan to use on your face, make sure petrolatum is not a trigger for you before using either moisturizer on your face.

Vanicream's whole thing is minimal ingredients and you can see their ingredient list below, it is about half the size of orchid's, however, vanicream contains BHT, orchid does not.

BHT in skincare can cause skin irritation and allergic reactions for some individuals, especially with prolonged use. Additionally, it has been linked to potential endocrine disruption and organ-system toxicity, raising concerns about its long-term safety.

The BHT in Vanicream has always bothered me and I've always hoped they'd find a way to reformulate with out it. It's a great preservative but problematic. I have used everyday for almost 3 years and it's always mentally bugged me that it contains BHT. I haven't reacted to it but I am concerned about longer term use. I do have a lot of endocrine issues already! Since I react to most everything else and reacting causes inflammation I figure that's probably worse than my worries so I've stuck with vani as a result.

Orchid does not contain any highly problematic ingredients which makes me... like it better! And I haven't reacted yet.

Three ingredients in the orchid to be careful of if you are hyper sensitive are Lactobionic Acid, Propylene Glycol & Propanediol

Lactobionic acid is a PHA that so far my skin tolerates well and my skin can definitely benefit from its mild exfoliation. PHA's is like a milder AHAs such as glycolic acid. It's generally very safe and well-tolerated, even by sensitive skin.

Propylene Glycol & Propanediol are both humectants that help draw moisture into the skin. These can be an irritant for people with highly sensitive skin or a compromised barrier.

Overall, I'm shocked to say the lack of bht in orchid and the tolerated active ingredients makes this moisturizer superior to Vanicream & has a much better price tag! It's definitely worth a try

Vanicream moisturizer: An oil-in-water emulsion type vanishing cream base.

Ingredients: water, petrolatum, sorbitol, cetaryl alcohol, propylene glycol, cetecreti-20, sineticone, glyceryl stearate, PEG-30 stearate, sorbic acid, BHT

Orchid moisturizer::

WATER, PETROLATUM, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, SORBITOL, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, DIMETHICONE, GLYCERYL STEARATE, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, CETEARETH-20, HYDROXYETHYL ACRYLATE/SODIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE COPOLYMER, STEARETH-21, POLYMETHYLSILSESQUIOXANE, PROPANEDIOL, HYDROXYACETOPHENONE, SORBITAN ISOSTEARATE, POLYSORBATE 60, CAPRYLHYDROXAMIC ACID LACTOBIONIC ACID

*edit/side note* my orchid photo shows zinc written on the bottom because I add 2 tsp of non-nano particle zinc to one tub, & I have another tub of orchid without the zinc! I add zinc as an anti-inflammatory & as an active barrier protectant, my skin loves it. I've always done this with vani (one tub with zinc one tub without the zinc) so far orchid works just as well with the added zinc!*

Car egging at new apartment

Kids are graduating and wylin'

Honestly at first I was pissed because I was rushing to get my kids to school and I made a total Karen call to my front office and left a message, I tried again, and again, they kept ignoring my calls.

...But later, I dunno, I kinda laughed about my reaction a bit. I don't usually get like that! It rained heavily and cleaned off most the eggs. 4 cars in a row were egged, didn't seem targeted.
