Better then Edge 820

I have an edge 820 already for several years. it's quite okay for recording rides/routes.

But some things really bother me, mostly the bad touch screen and the slow system/navigation.

Often touches are not registered and you need to press really firmly.

and the most awful part is navigation. I have a small local map (open cycle map lite) and when I load a gpx route(35km) it takes several minutes to calculate the navigation. then while riding panning and zooming is not usable because it takes several seconds to reload the screen. same thing happens when I'm cycling, when I ride forward the map needs to load the new section if that happens at the same time of a bend you really have no idea where you need to go.

what I do is just make the route visible on the maps and don't activate navigation for it.

now the question: are newer edge models really better? and what about the explorer 2?

I have a race and city bike, but I really don't need the fancy training metrics from the edge. I'm mostly looking for ease of use. is the explorer the go to model for a city bike? The 400 euro prices of the edge 550 is really to steep for my usage.

Dare not to ask on this sub, what about other brands? anything worth looking into?

Sundvall e-bike onbeperkt

what software (or site) to plan/combine cyling route

I'm looking for software where i can create a bicycle route. Meaning i want to for example combine parts of EuroVelo routes, regional Belgium routes and manually add some connection routes.
I found for example 'Brouter'. They have all the routes i want as underlay, but i dont find a way to copy section of them to my own track.

Any suggestions how to do this? or do i really need to draw over every underlay manually?

When can we expect introduction of '27 models?

I was looking for a new bike and my LBS told me he would be able to deliver it in like 2 wks already (2027 model).

when do you think Cube will announce the full 27 range?

E-bike cube Touring comfort slx 800

vent pipe cover/cap

In my basement i have 160mm pipes for ventilation, but at sometimes i want to be able to close them.
2 issues: on the inside its the male end (no rubber end) and while pouring the concrete the pipes became oval shape. So meaning not possible to find a solution in a DIY shop.
I measured the horizontal and vertical dimension and made an insert with an oval pipe end, inside that i put a cap with thread.

Interested: see makerworld (I made that uploaded model with a round 149mm pipe end, not an oval one so it fits in a normal 160mm OD pipe )

Cheap first drone

I can buy a DJI Mavic air (v1) for 210 euro (3 batteries, separate charger) . Is this a decent price for a first cheap drone?

I checked the local 2nd hand market and can't find anything below 300-400 euro.

I just want to play with it a bit, without spending much more money.

Is this thing still half decent? Or old fashioned technology.

I understand 2k will give me better Quality.

Also not really really the idea to use it for fancy video/photo, might take it on a holiday or hike to play.

For info I'm from Belgium.

How to create this kind of curved vanish edge?

Saw this on social media, and pretty curious about how to build this in Fusion, especially the curved vanish edges at the knob to the top surface.

The connection between the knob and the side rim also has a vanish edge, but I assume that can be built with split faces and loft?

Thanks.

what local AI mesh generator from photo or text?

hi all,

I want to start playing with local AI systems to generate mesh files from text and photos.
I have zero knowledge on things like this. Can you guys/girls advise on software/tutorials i can look into.
What software is the best currently?

Is this idea even feasible with my system: 9800X3D 64GB ram and 5800 16gb?

40yo what to do now?

I turned 40 last month so maybe a good moment to check I'm doing okay.

Current status.

I have 210k in ETFs (80% IWDA,10% EMIM,10% VWCE) and around 20k in ASML.

Around 20k in a savings account.

We own 2 apartments (estimate a total value around 400k), mortgage on these is done in a few months. The are rented out for about 1600€ total

On our new build home we have an open mortgage of around 350ks still to go.

I save/invest around 1500euro/month currently.

Any tips you guys have?

For example, all the ETFs are now at degiro. Is it okay to stay investing there, or should I start with a second broker (still have an empty saxo bank account from the past)?

Currently we are not thinking about FIRE specifically, just want to do the most smart things. We will reasses when we are both approaching 50years.
