Where can I start working with no references?

Hey guys! My heart is set on doing seasonal work, but I have no references. Every seasonal job I‘ve found wants me to put down references, which is a problem. I’ve been out of a job for over a year, so I’ve lost contact with many of my former colleagues. I have a clean criminal record, college degree, and I’m willing to work any sort of job that would help get my foot in the door for seasonal work. If anyone knows anyone hiring, or has any suggestions for me that would be great. Thanks for reading!

Why are we suggesting young people to get in the trades, when there’s barely any entry level roles available in the trades?

Everybody wants prior experience in these roles. Additionally you have to have connections to get these jobs.

IBEW CW?

Hey guys, I am an aspiring electrician interested in getting into the IBEW. I know that my local isn’t currently bringing in apprentices, so I’ve been looking into a Construction Wireman (CW) role. What would the process be like for landing at CW position? What responsibilities does this role entail? Are these roles as competitive as the apprenticeships? Would I be able to travel for work? Thanks for reading!

IBEW Helper?

Hey guys, I recently got laid off from my nonunion job. I’ve been trying to figure out where to go from here. I am interested in the union, but I know my local is not currently hiring for apprenticeships. I would like to eventually get in an apprenticeship, but right now I’ll be happy just getting back in the field as soon as possible. Does the IBEW hire helpers, material handlers, etc? And if so, what is the process like? Thanks for reading!

What are my best options for moving here?

Hey guys! Trying to get my career started but I know that’s a no-go here where I’m at in small town America. As a result, I’ve been trying to move to Denton. I’ve visited, and I love the vibe, however the cost of living is crazy these days.

What is the safest, most affordable option for somebody trying to live here? I also have no connections here either, so I would obviously be open to roomates as well. Thank you for reading. Any suggestions any of your guy have are much appreciated. looking forward to meeting some of you guys in the near future! 🤘

How do I go about getting back in the electrical field?

Hey guys. I am an apprentice electrician that was laid off from a nonunion shop last year. I was bummed out, still am. I miss it. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss being out on a jobsite learning and challenging myself. I have been finding it so difficult to secure an apprentice/helper position. What are some good methods, tips, or tricks to get back in the grind? Thanks for reading, and thank you for your suggestions!

Anybody currently hiring for roles where no experience is required?

iI swear, every job I stumble across lately is gatekept from me: I gotta have previous experience, I gotta have verifiable references, certifications, etc. If I have no work experience, Where can I get started in seasonal work?

I can provide a resume, I can give a good interview, I can pass a background check with flying colors, heck I just want to work. I can start working anytime. Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks for reading!

Best resources for Running Conduit?

Hey guys! I am one year into my apprenticeship and am enjoying it so far. Everything is going great, except running conduit, which is like 90+% of what this job entails. I just cannot seem to wrap my brain around this concept so far. I know the best way to learn is on the job, but what are some of the best online resources I can use to better familiarize myself with running conduit?

Any opportunities available for volunteering around the country?

Hey guys! I am looking for volunteer work around the United States. There are zero volunteer opportunities for us young people in my small town, so I am dead set on uprooting and volunteering elsewhere. Is anybody looking for help in entry level roles? Ideally I am looking for manual labor positions, but I am open to any opportunity that'll provide me with new experiences out of my desolate hometown for awhile LOL. Thanks for reading!
