Hey guys! My heart is set on doing seasonal work, but I have no references. Every seasonal job I‘ve found wants me to put down references, which is a problem. I’ve been out of a job for over a year, so I’ve lost contact with many of my former colleagues. I have a clean criminal record, college degree, and I’m willing to work any sort of job that would help get my foot in the door for seasonal work. Hey guys, I am an aspiring electrician interested in getting into the IBEW. I know that my local isn’t currently bringing in apprentices, so I’ve been looking into a Construction Wireman (CW) role. What would the process be like for landing at CW position? What responsibilities does this role entail? Are these roles as competitive as the apprenticeships? Would I be able to travel for work? Hey guys, I recently got laid off from my nonunion job. I’ve been trying to figure out where to go from here. I am interested in the union, but I know my local is not currently hiring for apprenticeships. I would like to eventually get in an apprenticeship, but right now I’ll be happy just getting back in the field as soon as possible. Does the IBEW hire helpers, material handlers, etc? How do you guys get these travel jobs? it seems like lots of guys are getting them, yet they are seemingly heavily gatekept. I keep applying on online job boards like RoadDogJobs, Tradesman International, etc. but I never hear anything back. How do you travelers get these gigs?

How are the average people doing it? The cost of living is insane, the job market sucks, heck even the dating market is cooked. How are people still intertwining and financially affording having children??

iI swear, every job I stumble across lately is gatekept from me: I gotta have previous experience, I gotta have verifiable references, certifications, etc. If I have no work experience, Where can I get started in seasonal work?
