When Pralaynath Genda Swamy Sees Brigadier Suryadev Singh 🤣

Persian miniature art, Depicting the proper way of stoning a woman to death for adultery.

The illustration is rendered in a classic Persian miniature painting style. The men are dressed in traditional Safavid-era Persian attire.

While historical artwork like this reminds us of the long, painful history of violence against women, it also highlights how far we’ve come through generations of resistance.

People would guess my political alignment without ever looking at my posts !

There are many terms for it in psychology, such as "Implicit personality theory", "Halo effect", "Stereotyping", "Thin-slicing", All are covered under more general framework called "Attribution theory"

We need to do better at protecting and tolerating freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech is only as strong as our society's willingness to tolerate it.

Two examples of intolerance toward Freedom of speech -
Left : Neha Bora
Right : Kanhaiya Lal

Doctors per million Indian population: 931. NGOs per million Indian population: 2357.

There are more NGOs in India than there are doctors. If Each NGO sponsored at least one doctor
We would have much better healthcare system

Does Hinduism need a formal ordination process for sannyasis, so random people can't just wear bhagwa and call themselves Sadhu?

Genuine question, not trying to start a flame war.

The problem: Anyone can buy a bhagwa cloth, grow a beard, and start calling themselves "Baba" or "Sadhu". There's no body that can strip them of the title if they say something stupid or get caught in a scam. But when one of them says something outrageous or gets arrested for fraud, the backlash lands on the entire sadhu community genuine tapasvis included.

Why it matters: every time one of these self-styled babas makes a bigoted or embarrassing statement, "Hindu sadhus" as a category take the hit

What Christianity does:

Catholic ordination isn't casual. A man goes through years of seminary formation, is ordained a deacon then a priest by a bishop in an actual sacramental rite (Holy Orders), and is incardinated into a specific diocese or religious order. There's canon law that governs discipline, and a bishop can suspend or laicize (defrock) a priest, stripping the title, not just criticizing him.

What Islam does

Sunni Islam technically has no ordained clergy or priesthood at all; in principle any Muslim can lead prayer. But in practice, becoming a recognized alim (scholar) or imam of a real mosque runs through madrasa education and an ijaza, a certificate of transmission from a qualified teacher, essentially a chain of authorization going back generations.

Hinduism has The Dashanami Sampradaya, The Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad
it's just not centralized or enforced well

There's no legal or widely-recognized mechanism to publicly de-recognize a fake or disgraced "sadhu" the way defrocking or losing ijaza works elsewhere.

Self-declared "godmen" with zero akhara/matha affiliation get treated by media and public alike as if they represent the tradition, because there's no easy way for the public to check credentials.
