The French Courtyard (Court of Miracles) on the Universal Studios Backlot

The French Courtyard (Court of Miracles) on the Universal Studios Backlot

One of my favorite areas on the Universal Studios backlot is this romantic French courtyard in the European Quarter, commonly known as the Court of Miracles. Over the years, this versatile set has appeared in countless productions and served as the backdrop for several classic Universal Monsters films.

It’s a great reminder of how the same backlot streets have been transformed into different locations for generations of filmmakers. What productions do you remember seeing filmed here?

Knott’s Summer Nights is one of the best reasons to visit the park after dark

Stopped by Knott’s Berry Farm during Summer Nights and snapped this photo of the Calico Mine Stage.

The atmosphere really changes once the sun starts setting—live music, specialty food, games, and lighting throughout the park make it a fun experience beyond just riding coasters.

If you’re planning a visit this summer, Summer Nights is included with regular park admission on select nights through August 30. Has anyone else gone this season?

What performances or food have been your favorites?

Supreme Scream looked incredible lit up in red, white & blue for the Fourth of July 🇺🇸

I caught Supreme Scream at Knott’s Berry Farm on the evening of July 4, and it looked absolutely spectacular.

The tower was illuminated in vibrant red, white, and blue, making it stand out brilliantly against the night sky. I’ve seen Supreme Scream countless times over the years, but the patriotic lighting gave it a completely different look and made one of the park’s most iconic attractions even more impressive.

If you were at the park on Independence Day, did you get a chance to see it in person? What did you think of the lighting display? 🇺🇸🎆

Original 1984 Battle of Galactica pin from Universal Studios Hollywood

I recently came across this original 1984 Battle of Galactica pin from Universal Studios Hollywood.

Battle of Galactica operated on the Studio Tour from 1979 to 1992 and was one of Universal’s most ambitious attractions of its era. Guests were transported into a battle against the Cylons using Audio-Animatronics, live actors, laser effects, and practical special effects.

After it closed in 1992, the attraction site was redeveloped for Back to the Future: The Ride.

Does anyone else remember riding Battle of Galactica or still have souvenirs from the attraction? I’d love to see what everyone has!

I Visited the 2026 San Diego County Fair at the Del Mar Fairgrounds (Full Walkthrough)

I went down to the 2026 San Diego County Fair at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and filmed a complete walkthrough of this year's event.

The fair features the "Once Upon a Fair" theme along with carnival rides, classic fair food, games, exhibits, shopping, and plenty of entertainment. If you couldn't make it—or you're planning a visit—here's a look at what you can expect this year.

I'd love to hear what your favorite part of the San Diego County Fair is!

10 Years Ago Today: The Walking Dead Attraction Opened at Universal Studios Hollywood (July 4, 2016)

On July 4, 2016, Universal Studios Hollywood officially opened The Walking Dead Attraction, a permanent walkthrough experience based on AMC’s hit television series.

Developed alongside Greg Nicotero and KNB EFX, the attraction featured authentic television sets, live scareactors, detailed makeup effects, animatronics, and iconic scenes from the show. It was built following the popularity of The Walking Dead mazes at Halloween Horror Nights and marked the return of a permanent horror attraction after Universal’s House of Horrors closed.

The attraction remained open until March 3, 2020.

Did you ever experience it? What were your favorite scenes or walker encounters?

Happy Fourth of July from the iconic 1980s Universal Studios Hollywood marquee 🇺🇸

Happy Fourth of July, everyone!

I stopped by the classic 1980s Universal Studios Hollywood entrance marquee. With the American flag flying overhead, it felt like the perfect backdrop to celebrate Independence Day and the America 250 commemoration.

Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday!

Two years ago I filmed the construction site for Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift at Universal Studios Hollywood

I went back through my archive and realized I filmed this on July 1, 2024.

It's amazing to compare what the construction site looked like then with where the project is today. Watching Universal Studios Hollywood's first outdoor roller coaster take shape over the past two years has been a fun project to document.

Did anyone else take construction photos or videos back in 2024?

The War of the Worlds airplane crash set is still one of the best parts of the Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour

Every time I ride the Studio Tour, I’m reminded just how impressive the War of the Worlds airplane crash set really is. Created for Steven Spielberg’s 2005 film, the production used a real Boeing 747 to create this incredibly detailed disaster scene.

It’s one of those rare movie sets that has remained on the backlot for 21 years, allowing millions of Studio Tour guests to experience it up close. Practical effects on this scale are becoming increasingly rare, which makes this stop even more special today.

What’s your favorite permanent set on the Universal Studios Hollywood backlot?

Bruce still gets me every time on the Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour 🦈

I filmed one of my favorite Studio Tour moments at Universal Studios Hollywood. The video starts with the original Jaws attraction sign before the tram approaches George’s boat. Just when it looks safe, the flammable barrels explode and Bruce launches out of the water!

This classic attraction sequence is based on the 1975 film Jaws, directed by Steven Spielberg, and it’s still one of the most memorable practical effects on the Studio Tour.

Does Bruce still make you jump, or do you know exactly when he’s coming? 🦈

Sometimes parking on Level 6 of the Jurassic Garage has its perks

Nobody hopes to park on the roof of the Jurassic Parking Garage, especially during the summer heat. But if that’s the only spot left, at least you’re treated to some pretty great views before making the walk into the park.

Anyone else find themselves parking up here more often lately?

Caught the sun perfectly framed inside the Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift scream shield at Universal Studios Hollywood

Stopped to grab this photo during my latest visit to Universal Studios Hollywood. The afternoon sun lined up almost perfectly inside the coaster’s signature scream shield, creating a unique perspective of the structure.

The coaster hasn’t opened yet, but it’s exciting to watch the finishing touches come together. Looking forward to seeing this view with trains racing through it.

What do you think of the coaster’s design so far?

17 years ago today, Creature from the Black Lagoon: The Musical opened at Universal Studios Hollywood

On July 1, 2009, Universal Studios Hollywood premiered Creature from the Black Lagoon: The Musical, a 25-minute Broadway-inspired rock musical based on the 1954 Universal classic.

Replacing Fear Factor Live in the Castle Theater, the show featured original music, elaborate stage effects, puppetry, aerial choreography, and a humorous reimagining of the Gill-man story. While its run was relatively brief, it has developed a loyal following among fans of Universal's classic monsters and extinct attractions.

Did you get a chance to experience it? What are your memories of this unique show?

Caught the iconic drop on Timber Mountain Log Ride at Knott's Berry Farm! 🌲💦

One of the most recognizable moments at Knott's Berry Farm. The final drop on Timber Mountain Log Ride!

Opened in 1969, Timber Mountain Log Ride is one of the oldest log flume attractions in the United States. Created by legendary designer Bud Hurlbut and themed around Knott's Calico Ghost Town, it's a classic that blends immersive storytelling, detailed scenery, and a splashdown that's still just as fun today.

This clip captures the boat emerging from Timber Mountain just before making its iconic plunge.

How many times have you ridden Timber Mountain Log Ride? Do you remember riding it before the major refurbishment in 2013, or is the updated version your favorite? I'd love to hear your memories! 🌲🚣💦

What goes up… must come down. HangTime at Knott’s Berry Farm

That brief pause at the top before HangTime tips you over the edge never gets old. Even when you know it’s coming, the anticipation makes the drop feel even bigger.

What’s your favorite coaster that has a holding brake before the first drop?

Comcast plans to spin off NBCUniversal into a separate company. What do you think this means for Universal Parks?

Comcast announced today that it plans to separate NBCUniversal into its own publicly traded company.

The new NBCUniversal would include Universal Pictures, NBC, Peacock, Sky, and the Universal theme parks, while Comcast would focus on broadband, cable, and wireless.

I’m curious what everyone thinks this could mean for Universal Destinations & Experiences in the long term.

Do you think having a standalone entertainment company will allow Universal to invest more aggressively in the parks, or do you think guests won’t notice much difference?
Interested to hear everyone’s thoughts.

The complete track layout for Revenge of the Mummy – The Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood

I’ve always found it interesting how different the attraction looks when you see the entire track layout. On paper, it’s easy to follow the launches, turns, and layout of the coaster. But once you’re actually riding through the dark ride scenes your sense of direction changes completely.

It’s a great example of how coaster engineering and themed entertainment work together to create an experience that’s very different from what the blueprint suggests.

What part of the ride surprised you the most after seeing the layout?

I filmed the complete Paint the Night Electrical Parade in 4K during Disneyland's 70th Anniversary Celebration

Paint the Night has officially returned to Disneyland, and I wanted to capture the entire parade in the highest possible quality.

This full 4K video includes every float, performer, and lighting sequence from one of Disney's most visually stunning nighttime parades. Whether you're planning a trip, couldn't make it, or just want to relive the experience, I hope you enjoy it.

Do you think Paint the Night is Disney's best nighttime parade, or do you still prefer Main Street Electrical Parade? I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts!
