Any Lexington mechanic that fixes "Hyundai Steering Clunk"?

Gotta think that some shops have more knowledge of Hyundai, maybe even specialize. If you don't know what the ubiquitous CLUNK is, your shop probably hasn't done of lot of them or you've never had a Hyundai.

Hyundai Elantra: Thoughts on Zerk fitting control arm?

I'm sort of resurrecting my daughter's 2013 Hyundai Elantra and one front ball joint was scary loose. I ordered a Mevotech lower control arm from Rockauto and the ball joint has a Zerk fitting for lubrication. Would you consider this better or worse than a permanently lubed, sealed ball joint?

Any way to avoid license plate toll "service charges" on rental cars?

We recently rented a car to travel to through Pennsylvania, New York, and Connecticut and just got a bill for $24 PLUS $14 "service charges" for tolls. These systems used license plate readers and there wasn't an obvious way to pay immediately. Any ideas?

Does anyone else not have a concept of "studying hard" or special mental effort?

I'm a very late diagnosed ASD engineer and recently met with an old friend, our valedictorian. He said I was "the smartest person he'd known" and I was shocked. He also said ".....well, I worked really hard in HS". I don't really know what this means - I apply myself to a problem and I don't sense any intensity of effort or study. In college I tried some all-nighters and I'm not sure they helped except when I needed time to get papers written. I do a lot of my own car repair and If I can't visualize a solution (or find a video) I'm really hesitant to attempt stuff. NT's seem to just tear into problems, expecting to figure it out.

So basically I just apply myself to problems and do the best I can, there's not a feeling of "thinking hard", just my processes to learn or search out information. Anyone else?

DAE anyone else "stalk" FB Marketplace sellers?

Not as ongoing stalking but some listings really arouse my curiosity and the person's FB profile is available. IE, who appreciates this obscure vehicle (like me!) and what else do they like?? Who has a tiny home for sale and what's the neighborhood?? Why is a soccer mom selling 5" platform heels??

Do autistics tend to ignore personally unimportant information?

I know my wife is going to an event this morning and she's told me 2-3 times but I don't remember exactly when - just that I get a day mostly alone. Another instance, I didn't know my months in order until 5th-6th grade when we had to start putting dates on our schoolwork.

I'm an ASD engineer - discovered as a 50+ adult - and think I read about Einstein saying "Why should I memorize (something) when I can look it up in a book?"

"Questions about movies" By mdx.ac.uk - Are you kidding me??

Is anyone REALLY supposed to know these 6 movie details? Are we supposed to Google answers? Am I that out of touch with current culture?

Really wonder what the point was; it didn't even ask for demographics...

Are Vevor mini-lathes any better than others?

Are these usable for hobby work? There are other brands - some that seem like a random combination of English letters - that look identical and are $100-200 cheaper.

For reference, in college 40 years ago I bought a similar Atlas lathe the seemed like a toy compared to even a South Bend No.9 I used in my part time job. But I've read that these can be cleaned up to be OK relative to taking a chance on another small South Bend. Thoughts?

2009 XC-70. Where to find "suspension type code".

Despite the online mentions, there is NOT an obvious indication of suspension option on either of our front door jambs nor do I see any "build tag" under the hood. I suspect ours is pretty basic, no self leveling etc.

It's supposed to be a 2-digit number that's important in ordering replacement shocks & struts.

ChatGTP says that it's not derivable from the VIN number?

Auction Score! I think.... 1970s Echo 301

Kioritz - Echo 301

Echo 301 - front

Echo 301 pull starter copied

Just now joined r/chainsaw to learn about my new acquisition. Found local "Echo 301 Chainsaw - has problems" on HiBid and I guess no other bidders found a Google example so I got it for $5! Has OK compression and looks like it was put away from light use. I have not tried to start it; what is the correct fuel mix? How would you resurrect it?

I've been an engines/motorsports enthusiast since primary school and I can't believe the quality of this thing. From the references I've found, the chain oiler lines are brazed copper with banjo fittings; I don't plan to tear into it, yet... The only problems are a missing "logging spike" and cracked rubber on the loop handle.

EDIT: Found some specs; 20:1 fuel ratio

Suppose I get a survey from Researcher = "Boondocks.edu". Does blocking that survey block ANYONE at Boondocks?

My recent experience was with a very reputable university and I wouldn't want to completely shut them out.

And PLEASE downvote this serious question to get your tiny shot of dopamine in your miserable life.

I like machinery and technology and I generally understand when I see something unusual on a large truck, or a performance car. My spouse usually doesn't even acknowledge, say, a Ferrari or massively oversize truck load. How do you feel?

For some reason I had gotten a bad image of "HBS" thinking it was Hong Kong etc. but today I tried one because of the payment - it's Harvard Business School. In the survey there were 1-2 pages of obvious screening but the at least TEN pages of "read simple instructions , answer question correctly", no clue as to whether this was more screening. Has anyone else experienced flaky screening from HBS?
